‘You Hate Jews’: Screenwriter Pens Epic Letter to Mel Gibson Accusing Him of Making Movie to Hide Anti-Semitism

Joe Eszterhas Pens Epic Letter to Mel Gibson Accusing Him of Anti Semitism

Actor Mel Gibson

The drama surrounding actor and director Mel Gibson never seems to subside. In a nine-page letter written to Gibson by Hollywood screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, the actor is accused of “hating Jews” and of using Eszterhas to temper his anti-Semitic reputation.

The actor and screenwriter were, until recently, partners on a new film about Jewish revolt and heroism called “The Maccabees.” In the epic letter, which can be read in its entirety here, alleges that Gibson never intended to make the film.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that the reason you won’t make ‘The Maccabees’ is the ugliest possible one,” Eszterhas wrote. “You hate Jews.”

The note, written on April 9, makes some other disturbing allegations. He claims that Gibson has repeatedly called Jews “over-dodgers,“ among other names and that he has called the Holocaust ”mostly a lot of bulls*it” in the past. Eszterhas labeled many of Gibson’s comments he personally heard “looney, rancid, anti-Semitic stuff.”

He also took issue with Gibson’s purported claim that the purpose behind making “The Maccabees” was “to convert the Jews to Christianity.”

Joe Eszterhas Pens Epic Letter to Mel Gibson Accusing Him of Anti Semitism

The first page of Ezsterhas' epic letter to Gibson

“You were raving at Oksana even after you’d reached a custody agreement over Luci. And then you were even more explicit about your threat,” Ezsterhas also wrote in the note. “‘I’m going to kill her! I’m going to have her killed!‘ You said you’d become friends with two FBI agents (or former FBI agents) and they were going to help you kill her.”

In the end, Eszterhas challenged Gibson by invoking Jesus’ name.

“I believe in Jesus Christ and you say you do too…but Jesus Christ teaches love, not hate,” the letter concludes.

Following the note, Gibson’s response to media, as published by the Huffington Post, among other outlets was as follows:

I have your letter. I am not going to respond to it line by line, but I will say that the great majority of the facts as well as the statements and actions attributed to me in your letter are utter fabrications. I would have thought that a man of principle, as you purport to be, would have withdrawn from the project regardless of the money if you truly believed me to be the person you describe in your letter. I guess you only had a problem with me after Warner Brothers rejected your script.

According to TheWrap, Warner Bros. has decided to put the film on hold and and rejected Eszterhas’ script on the premise that is allegedly lacks the sense of “triumph” that the company is looking for. While the screenwriter wants the script returned to him, technically Gibson has the option to take it to another studio.

think Mel’s oppinion of Jews was influenced by the fact NOT A SINGLE STUDIO (ALL JEWISH OWNED) would help him make the Passion. More over they actually tried to stop him through attempting to keep union workers from working on his film.
The Jews in Hollywood drew first blood from Mel attacking his Christian beliefs and his ability to tell the final days of Christ’s life here on earth

Look Mel just needs to bow down, cry real hard, plead for forgiveness from the ADL, and make a large donation at the nearest Holocaust museum and maybe just maybe this chosen race will find it in their hearts to forgive him? lol But don’t hold your breath Mel!

If you found someone guilty of murder who managed to escape justice, how many years must have passed before you‘d say that it’s been too long to prosecute him? How old must he be before he can no longer be brought to justice? True justice doesn’t make exceptions Tech, it’s unbiased and unforgiving.

Update: Gibson responded in a letter to Eszterhas:

“Both Warner Brothers and I were extraordinarily disappointed with the draft. In 25 years of script development I have never seen a more substandard first draft or a more significant waste of time. The decision not to proceed with you was based on the quality of your script, not on any other factor.”

Gibson also apologized for using “colorful” language, but said that much of Eszterhas’s observations were “utter fabrications.”

      Eszterhas declined to comment.

In my eyes, yes. I hate visiting Germany as long as that generation is alive and walking the streets. I did once, and saw a Russian icon at the Bed&Breakfast I was staying. My first thought was how did these Nazi pigs get their hands on an icon. I love German culture and history, Bach is my favorite composer, and I know that the Russians and the Americans are responsible for just as much suffering and death. Still, while that murderous generation remains alive, I will never step foot in that country or spend one dime on their products.

What are you talking about, mutant? Yes, the Russian army committed war crimes at the end the war–as a group, and completely given license to do so by the rest of the civilized world. So did the Americans, by bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So did the Allies when they bombed Dresden in revenge for a medieval church in England being bombed by the Nazis.

Russian Jews were in the Soviet Army, of course, and they were active in the resistance partisan movement. They are honorable people and Russian patriots who defended their country and their families. How in the world are you laying the excesses of the Red Army’s advance on Berlin at the feet of Russian Jews?

I know why it is true. Because in every age, life’s problems are complex and difficult to understand, let alone overcome. people do not want to think and suffer. But there are rebel rousers who reduce complex problems to simple solutions that say–hey, it’s not your fault, it’s the fault of all the people with red hair, or big noses, or who wear glasses, or who have a different skin color.

And people who are tired from life to begin with eagerly line up behind such an explanation. it allows them to feel self-righteous and divide the world into us and them, good and bad, wash our hands of problems not ours.

Like Martin Luther, or Torquemada, or Reagan, or Glenn Beck, or Mel Gibson.

This is why most Jews do not subscribe to your weird ideology and vote Democrat. They know that while today your objects of hatred are Muslims or Blacks, they will easily become Jews tomorrow. Because it is how you guys think.

Historically, Jews have lived among the many different nations of this world. In each, they treat the indigenous population as the “you guys.” And, it is precisely this cultural changing, initiated by you, upon the ‘you guys,’ that brings much of the historical discontent by so many differing cultures.

The red army crimes against innocent Germans inspired by the Jew propagandist Ehrenburg.

Typical life in the Russian prison camps (gulags), invented and run by the Jews like Naftali Frenkel
The indiscriminate allied bombing of Dresden.
The deliberate sinking of SS Gustafson, a vessel evacuating CIVILIANS sunk by a Russian sub.
Communist life in East Germany, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland or any of the Eastern block countries.

Heck, even we Americans have stories that need to be told.
The attack on the USS Liberty.
      The Lavon affair.
Espionage by Julius and Ethel Rosenberg passing nuke secrets to Russia. They were the first Americans executed for espionage and they were Jews.
The tale of Jonathan Pollard another Jew spying for Israel. Bibi Netanyahu is demanding his release by the way.

No. You called everybody else, “you guys.” If that is true, then you must be, “us guys.” If I am to believe your logic, and I do, then you have described the “us guys” against the “you guys” cultural isolation, that I believe has led to the nearly universal historical discontent that has befallen the Jewish people.

Historically, when “us guys” live in the nations of the “you guys” we are a priori isolating ourselves. When “us guys” have more in common with “us guys” living in the other nations, than we do with the “you guys” living in our own chosen nation, we breed our own discontent that fosters the historical oppression that is the Jewish reality.

      @Jerk
Your entire argument breaks down to a “chicken or the egg” scenario. You claim that Jews are hated because they see the world in an “us and them” way. That may be true in certain cases but then you have to ask why the Jews are that way. The answer is because they have, for centuries, been treated as different. You trace the cycle back far enough (and you don’t have to go that far) and you get to a time when EVERYONE thought that way. How long ago was it that the French and English hated each other? 200 years? Even today you have people like techyboy here, who sees the world that way. His “us” is white Christians and everyone else falls under “them”. Just look at where he talks about Russian Jews: he categorically paints them all as murderers simply because they aren’t WASPs.

Take a look at the current Democratic party. Never has their been a more divisive, hate-filled bunch of proud socialists making policy for this country. Obama himself stated Isreal should go back to pre-1967 borders. You think Jews as a collective are safer under neo-socialists, you must have a very poor recollection of history.
Other posters are correct, Gibson’s “Passion..” movie was denied distribution by Hollywood. Prominent Jews denounced it without having seen it at all, and they were “afraid it may bring about anti-Jewish sentiment and cause backlash”. What a crock.
Gibson may be anti-semitic, a drunk, an a-hole or whatever. Frankly I don’t care, but one man doesn’t paint a brush over all Germans, Australians, Russians or whatever.

Jews vote Democrat for the same reason everyone else does: Either they have been made dependent on government handouts or they have been guilted into believing they are heartless if they do otherwise. The media convinces the Jews of their own status as victims in order to enlist their “support” for other “victims” (sort of a kinship-type thing).

HE will protect HIS CHOSEN people. Christians MUST be aware, that OUR salvation comes through them, as stated in John 4:22 Jesus was Jewish through Mary. As I Christian, we ARE to talk to Jews about Jesus as coming as their Messiah as Messiach ben Joseph, the suffering Messiah, through Mary, as their Torah/Bible predicited. He will RETURN, ans the CONQUERING Messiah, Messiach ben David, next time. Also as predicted in their, and our Scriptures. Mel needs to REPENT and believe, before it is too late. We are told that when Israel became a nation, in 1948, the Generation that witnessed this will not pass away, until he does so.

Being an anti-Semite and a Christian cancel eachother out, IMHO. However, tell that to Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Father Flager, etc. etc.

Well Tech, considering that the words of Martin Luther became reality by Hitler’s hand, I wouldn’t be surprised if many believed that. He was the one who called for the burning of every Jewish text, Synagogue, house of study, etc. And let’s not forget, he hated the Jews for one simple reason: he thought reforming the church would result in all Jews converting. When they didn’t he began demonizing them. Martin Luther believed he could eradicate Judaism “peacefully” and when the Jews just tried to be true to their beliefs he took personal affront to that.

Sawbuck, I believe you are correct about a drunk man‘s words being a sober man’s thoughts. However, WHO WE TRULY ARE should NOT be judged by what we say when in a drunken state. WHO WE TRULY ARE is when we are SOBER. That is when we exhibit the fruit of the Holy Spirit, when we exhibit that person made in the image and likness of God and Christ His Son. Of course, the premise of what I am proposing is that one believes in Jesus Christ. But even if one doesn’t, one’s authenticity still can be considered. E.g., I am assuming that you work for a living. Do you go to work drunk or sober? If you go to work sober–and are able to hold your tongue regarding what you might be thinking about some of your coworkers–are you being yourself?

I think Mel’s oppinion of Jews was influenced by the fact NOT A SINGLE STUDIO (ALL JEWISH OWNED) would help him make the Passion. More over they actually tried to stop him through attempting to keep union workers from working on his film.
The Jews in Hollywood drew first blood from Mel attacking his Christian beliefs and his ability to tell the final days of Christ’s life as a man.

Since People are all born from the earth, then we all have a little more or less Satan dust. The thing about Jesus is that when Jesus hour had come, Satan one last time stood-up in Jesus to tempt Jesus, and Jesus crucified Satan – cutting off Satan from his own spirit. Now Satan was so mad, that Satan stood up in the Romans and the Jews so to crucify Jesus. Therefore it is that the Jews did not crucify Jesus.

Like many other Hollywood “stars,” stardom went to Mel Gibson‘s head and he doesn’t handle criticism or failure very well. Now in his “golden years,” he pictures himself as some type of intelectual and wants to bless the rest of us with his wisdom. He should have stuck to acting which he was good at and should not have entered into politics which he has miserably failed at with his controversial comments especially against the Jews. Maybe he needs to go back “down under” to Australia before he goes down under completely in his career.

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley long have lobbied for climate legislation because they would reap huge fees in brokering the trade of energy-rationing coupons (a.k.a. carbon credits) under a cap-and-trade scheme. By 2020, the global carbon market could be worth $3 trillion, according to London-based New Energy Finance. http://spectator.org/archives/2010/06/03/john-kerrys-big-business-buyof

No wonder Romney once said, “I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that. It’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors.”

“I am afraid the ordinary citizen will not like to be told that the banks can and do create money. And they who control the credit of the nation direct the policy of Governments and hold in the hollow of their hand the destiny of the people.” Reginald McKenna, Chairman of the Midland Bank

No faces without tears running down them, and when we left, not a word was spoken, even outside people left quietly. I would love to see the story they don’t want to do, and if it is the same quality as the passion, it could bring many to understand God’s chosen, and the things throughout history they have suffered. I am willing to give Mel a pass for a bad time in his life, and when people get crazy angry they say stupid stuff. Let he without sin cast the first stone, etc. I do not believe he is evil.
