‘You Have to Pay for That’: California City Bills Obama $35K After Campaign Fundraiser

Newport Beach, California Bills Obama $35,000 For Extra Security During Campaign Stop

With California’s current deficit woes, it has seemingly become difficult to justify the tens of thousands of dollars it can cost the taxpayer in extra security measures for Obama’s campaign stops.

That is why, according to the Los Angeles Times, Newport Beach has billed the president $35,043.04.

The L.A. Times continues:

City Manager Dave Kiff said the invoice was his idea.

“I think it is appropriate to treat it like a private event — if another private event that large and which required that much police presence occurred, we would bill the event sponsor,” he said in an email. “If the president was here on presidential business, we likely would not have billed for that.”

[...]

The expenses include costs for a police lieutenant, sergeant, two officers, a reserve officer, a senior dispatch officer, a community service officer plus overtime.

CBS analyzed the bill, and interviewed locals on the matter:

The invoice, which is dated May 10th and is due June 9th, had not been acknowledged or paid as of Thursday, according to the L.A. Times.

“Our country is broke,” a man living in the neighborhood where Obama held his fundraiser said.  “You have to pay for that.”

What remains to be seen is whether Obama will actually pay off this debt…and with whose money.

Newport Beach has just made “the List”. Barry keeps one similar to Santa’s, but Barry’s is much more vindictive and nefarious.

In fact, according to Barry’s autobiographies, Santa is a typical white person who stole the idea of
“list-keeping” from him. Santa , of course, has been found to be a composite of kindly old marxist gentlemen that Barry mentored with throughout his formative years.

He has burdened the tax payers with his excessive vacations, which the American people think he did not earn or deserve…love to see him pay the bill on that …I don’t think we owe him a retirement pension either, may be that needs to be put on the ballot ,so the citizens can vote on whether a civil servant has earned their retirement…I vote no

He apparently does not care, as he has wasted billions of OUR money so far. Cannot wait for his concession speech soon. One term.

My question is did “o” pay the million he owed from 2008 that he owed Chicago or did it go into collections?
In California, we residents are being forced to pay on top of our taxes for every thing. if a cop comes to your house, you get a bill, if the fire department shows up, you are going to get a bill for their services. If the residents that actually Pay taxes in this state get double charged, then “o” should pay HIS FAIR SHARE………………….
Let us see how long it takes to recoup our money from the great black hype… Will the residents of California have to send “o”to collections or will he just write us an IOU, or badger the city’s bill for even suggesting he actually pay for his campaign trips……….
Let see how long it takes for “o” to pay his fair share…………. I say Cali will have to send him to collections to recoup our money and I still think he will pass a law to keep him from paying tax payers money back……… Once a cheat always a cheat.

After a month, send it to the meanest, most annoying collection agency you can find Mr. Kiff. (Would make great YouTube fodder if the agency were to tape the calls to the West Wing trying to get payment) If that doesn’t work sue him personally, not the government, or his campaign, but him personally.
