You Need to Know About ‘Operation Blessing’

Glenn Beck and his charitable organization, Mercury One, has joined up with “Operation Blessing” in a massive food drive — one that has already filled 11 tractor trailers with food for the homeless. Operation Blessing member Bill Horan appeared on the program Wednesday evening to discuss all of the group’s different charitable and humanitarian initiatives.

Operation Blessing was founded as a way to match those who wish to give with those in need. Horan said he thinks of Operation Blessing as a “conduit to the poor.” Now an international organization, it delivers a staggering 2 million pounds of food per week.

“We are a pipeline for those who need to give,” he said.

I did some volunteer clean up work after Katrina. OBI supplied us with tents food shower and anything else we needed. I have no problem supporting them.

For those wondering if the charities they give to actually use the money for the purpose you give, please turn to your Better Business Bureau. Our local Bureau publishes a monthly newsletter in which they list all charities, grade them based on their % of using the money for the charities purpose, and just give the public general info about the charity. I look at it this way, when I give to charity or to a homeless person on the street, it’s the spirit in which it is given. I will research charities, but not worry excessively about their structure. I give because I want to and what the homeless or charity does with the money once it leaves my hand is up to them and they will utlimately be held responsible for their actions.

My husband and I use to give money to Operation Blessing, however we got real tired of them filling our mailbox with junk mail. Stuff coming almost daily. Made us feel like our donation was only paying for the cost of their bulk mail. The last straw was when we got membership cards (apparently to put in our wallets) saying we were Operation Blessing Members. WTF….never gave them another dime. Switched to Billy Graham‘s organization Samaritan’s Purse. Believe they are a better steward of our donations. They actually use the money as intended and won’t fill up the mailbox.

That’s the way most charities are, sadly. They try to milk their donors endlessly. I’ve donated a lot to soldier relayed charities and wondered if they actually profited, after the 2 year bombardment for more money.

What does this have to do with restoring the Constitution and Bill of Rights?

Is charity… lacking in America and in need of restoration?

Should we not teach a man to fish?

What does this have to do with REJECTING the two monopolizing, PROGRESSIVE parties?

Is Glenn Beck STILL supporting PROGRESSIVE Romney, who will only guarantee the reelection of Obama?

Does anyone (aside from me) see the similarities between Beck and a fake-benevolent dictator from a third world nation handing out UN food bags to coerce the hearts and minds if his serfs?

Does anyone else (aside from myself) UNDERSTAND… that a man who HAS TO TELL YOU “I mean what I say”… RARELY DOES?

Will I be cursed for “questioning with boldness?”

I believe that Beck is trying to show the American People that we DO NOT need the gov’t handouts. Only by truly convincing people will have any impact.

Further, giving blesses the giver. God loves a cheerful giver.

Apparently not, Winston. Sometimes people just want to help others–without the government muddling up the results.

(When did Beck become a “dictator?” I thought he was a radio and television personality–who is encouraging people to remember charity, and that the government doesn’t need to be involved. {in your “analogy” that would be the UN})

We used to be FORCED to give by our union company to the UNITED WAY. I hated that organization for skimming so much off the top for paid organizers and corporate expenses. Rip off. Go with the charities that give directly to the people, like this one.

I was at the warehouse opening today, and had lunch with Bill Horan. I worked for him after Katrina and he is a good leader of a great organization of people that really do care. It would take a novel to tell all that OB does around the world. You will find nothing but high ratings and your donation will be well used.

Not a “bad thing” .. but cities always get all the money and all the “help” .. I wish that they had found some small towns that are really hurting and helped them … it would have gone farther .. and more appreciated .. Detroit … Really ??? I know a number of small towns in northern Michigan who could have used and would be really grateful for the help.

Operation Blessing is part of CBN, Pat Robertson. It is a great charity. They are all over the world. They have a huge plane that flies to poor nations with the help of Dr.’s who donate their time doing cleft lip and palate surgeries. So so many kids have that problem from poor nutrition.

I understood it to be a congenital birth defect.. ‘Feed The Children’ — what became of that group?? Think they were based out of OKC, but it’s been a while.. irrespective — these semis ‘should’ be in the 100′s by now – DAILY. Might could even eliminate some of the ‘need based’ EBT people really DO NOT want…

Operation blessing is an amazing charity. It has been rated in the top five Charities in the world almost every year over the past decade +. They were the first to arrive in Haiti and remained there LONG after Haiti wasn’t the top news story anymore. See video below for an example.

pHew! Scared me for a second when I saw OB posted up with the daily list of l’enfant terribles on The Blaze….lol

We used to make monthly and weekly contributions to OB through the Robertson group because when we researched the effective use of charity money, OB was just heads and shoulders above the other legitimate charities we could find. Plus they were ALWAYS on the site of disasters days before the lumbering relics (red cross, united way, etc.) would make ANY sort of appearance, IF they ever made any attempt to help at all! It was just ridiculous!

Another interesting point…. Pat Robertson, contrary to all the terrible things people say about him, is an extremely Godly, faithful, and dedicated servant of the Lord. I couldn’t understand why everyone always had such terrible things to say about him after I looked into his local and financial reputations, so just for grins, I put a daily GOOGLE NEWS ALERT on his name in parentheses, “Pat Robertson.”

There is an apparently endless and evil attempt to run him and his reputation into the ground, as there is never a time when “bad” Pat Robertson news isn’t appearing someplace about something….all of it false, misquoted, quoted out of context….sort of like Glenn “enjoys” but even worse because it’s (naturally) tinged with atheism and used to “prove” that the Lord is just after money. (as if the Lord needs money….lol)

Anyway, glad to see this wonderful synergism about to take place.
