‘You Used Your Time to Slam Our President’: Boxer Gavels Down Inhofe

Barbara Boxer has had her share of embarrassing moments in the Senate – perhaps most noticeably, telling a Brigadier General to call her “Senator” rather than “Ma’am.” And as the Washington Free Beacon reports, she has apparently just added another one – that is, deciding to gavel down Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe when he tried to correct her regarding the Obama administration’s energy policy. Watch the exchange below:

Here’s the transcript of the relevant piece as well, with emphasis added:

BOXER: Well, do we—we have 2 percent of the world’s—

INHOFE: That’s not true—

BOXER: Proven, proven supplies. We’re not going to go off on this—

INHOFE: I can’t leave it at that, though.

BOXER: No, no, we’re not going to do this. You raised—

INHOFE: The largest recoverable reserves of any country in the world—

BOXER: [bangs gavel] Sen. Inhofe, my dear friend. [bangs gavel] I just want to say, this is not the Energy Committee, this is the Environment Committee. You used your time to slam our president, and I take offense at it. And I will tell you right now, if he’s so punitive, why are the oil companies making more money than ever before in history? Record profits—they’re singing in the boardroom. We’re going to move off this and we’re going to go to Sen. Lautenberg.

      They’re making record profits-Maam, because gas is over 4.00 a gal and has been for a very long time. Thanks to Prime Minister Obama’s actions.

      Does any one reemimber, how back in W.‘s day this deranged individual was so concerned about women who couldn’t aford to take their kids to the babysitters and go to work, because, gas prices were an outrage at 3.50 a gal

      Actually, if you believe in the theory of abiotic oil, then you would know that it doesn’t matter who has the most oil according to any current study because they are all a load of BS. Furthermore, abiotic oil theory makes far more sense than biotic oil from rotting detritus. Oil floats on water, water covers more than 70% of the earth If the oil was from rotting plants and animals, it would be higher in the ground and not several thousand feet down trapped under an non-porous rock layer. In some places it is on top, but that might just be because that land lacks any non-porous layer to keep the oil from floating up like it should.

    Fellow readers,

    It truly is sickening and rather disheartening to see our elected politicians so naive in the very matters they facilitate and make decisions upon. I have grown up my whole life in the Permian Basin in Texas, and have, as well, been working in and around the actual oil fields. The sole, somewhat valid, defense that Senator Boxer proposes in favor of the president is simply that the oil companies are making more profits now than ever before. Although this statement is indeed true, let’s observe WHY. Oil is now more scarce of resource, causing the supply to drop, therefore driving prices up. Once the price of oil, or the status quo of demand for oil, goes up, we all begin to go CRAZY drilling for oil to make more money. Who decides to drill for more oil? The president? Absolutely not! The oil companies themselves are the ones who see the money to be made. Therefore, the single argument that Senator Boxer has used to defend the president is completely wrong.

    So please try one more time and think reeeeally hard Senator, what has the president ACTUALLY done to help with the oil crisis?

      True you are, I work on the downstream side of it. Profit margins, EBITA and all the other BS. Oil copanines are not Saints either. They want to make profit. I want to make profit. That’s why I work for these people and they pay relatively good, not great. Had an A$$H@t at the company say that they could take a “Burger Flipper” do my job. He peeveed a lot a people off. They might run the company and make money for the investor, but we make the product. Not asking for the world, but respect, a good wage and a retirement. Proably like RaiderforFreedom, he’s looking for a future good job, wage and retirement.

      We will never in my day get off oil (Fossil Fuels), what do you think plastics is made out of, hemp? Today, even our waste is turned into energy. Methane gas land-fills, fracking, etc, etc. Hydrocarbons do no ever go away, they just take another form. What we need to conquer is turning the waste from hydrocarbons back into energy at a cost that will make investors want to invest in.

      Why do you think an energy city is so big, plants cannot run on their own, the need support staff and resources. You think these people live off the land? They need goods and services to support them. Take away the energy and see how the people with goods and services do, i.e. Flint, Michigan. Kill the energy and the town falls. Energy runs the motor of the world and Who is John Gault?

Barbara Boxer should be put out to pasture! I lived in CA and she was one of the major hands at making that place impossible to live in due to the rules, regulations and cost!!!
