‘You Won!’: Feisty Palin Fires Up Wisconsin Tea Party Crowd

MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Sarah Palin defended Wisconsin’s governor at a tea party tax day rally Saturday, telling hundreds of supporters that his polarizing union rights law is designed to save public jobs.

Braving snow showers and a frigid wind outside the state Capitol building, the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate told tea partyers she’s glad to stand with Gov. Scott Walker. Hundreds of labor supporters surrounded the rally, trying to drown Palin out with chants of “Hey-hey, ho-ho, Scott Walker has got to go!“ and ”Recall Walker!”

“Hey, folks! He’s trying to save your jobs and your pensions!” Palin yelled into the microphone. “Your governor did the right thing and you won! Your beautiful state won! And people still have their jobs!”

Walker, a Republican, signed a bill into law last month that calls for almost all public workers to contribute more to their pensions and health care coverage, changes that amount to an average 8 percent pay cut. The plan also strips them of their right to collectively bargain on anything except wages.

Walker has said the law will help balance a $3.6 billion hole in the state budget and give local governments the flexibility they need to absorb deep cuts in state aid. Democrats, though, think Walker wants to weaken unions, one of their strongest constituencies.

Tens of thousands of people descended on the Capitol to protest nonstop for weeks against the plan and minority Democrats in the state Senate fled to Illinois to block a vote in that chamber, drawing national attention to the controversy.

Republicans eventually passed the plan without them and Walker signed the measure in early March. Democrats managed to win a temporary court order blocking the law from taking effect, but tensions are still running high over the measure.

Capitol Police estimated about 6,500 people converged on the building Saturday, but said it was impossible to tell how many were tea partyers and how many were labor supporters. The Capitol Police is a division of the Wisconsin Department of Administration, a Walker cabinet agency.

The tea partyers appeared clustered in front of the building, waving “Don’t Tread on Me“ flags and signs that read ”Public workers—the party is over,“ ”Thank you, Scott,“ and ”Tax and spend brings the end.”

Counter-protesters surrounded them, banging drums, bellowing into bullhorns and ringing bells. Bitter arguments broke out along the edges of the two groups over everything from the size of government to corporate power. At one point conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart took the stage and told the labor supporters to “go to hell.”

“I’m serious!” he screamed. “Go to hell! You’re trying to divide America!”

The tea party crowd cheered and the counter-demonstrators booed as Palin stepped to the microphone. She said she was proud Wisconsin conservatives prevailed against union “hatred and violence”—even though none of the protests in Madison ever became physically violent and only one person was arrested Saturday, for disorderly conduct, police said.

Palin said Walker is working to solve Wisconsin’s long-term budget problems so it can honor pension commitments to public workers.

“This is where the line has been drawn in the sand and I’m glad to stand with you in solidarity,” Palin said.

She segued into attacks on President Barack Obama, accusing him of failing to control the nation’s burgeoning debt, leading the country into war in Libya on fuzzy pretenses and ignoring rising gas prices.

Jeff Kuhn, 62, of Chenequa, Wis., carried a “Walker Rocks” sign to the rally. He said Palin’s speech galvanized him.

“We’re not giving up,” he said. “The government union workers shouldn’t be entitled to more benefits than us.”

Kathy Abel, a 51-year-old nurse from Madison, held a sign that said, “I hated Sarah Palin before it was cool” and wore a button that read: “Proud to be a union thug.”

“They make me giggle,” Abel said of the tea partyers. “Their values are so topsy-turvy. They had to come because this is where it’s happening. This is the flashpoint for democracy.”

I love Sarah Palin and Rand Paul!!!
One picture is worth ten thousand words! For 2012 – TV spots and Billboards with side by side pics of areas after Tea Party rallies and Union rallies! Those pictures show the true story – one group respects property while the other destroys it! I do not know how any of the protesters in Wisconsin can defend the trashing and destruction of their own State House! And they have the audacity to call Sarah Palin trash! Just like the pictures of the White House after the inauguration (looked like bombs were dropped)and the Colbert Rally in DC – pictures tell the story of who is truly trashy! RUN SARAH RUN!!!

The point is self-respect and respect for property. My dad taught me to always leave a place better than I found it. I guess you do not agree with that trait. The referenced pictures show people who have it and those who do not.

Admirable concept/phrase MAMAWALKER. I guess this means that you support regulations limiting toxic/greenhouse gas emissions being released into the air/water to make the products you use, you embrace efforts to find alternatives to fossil fuels, you use the most energy-efficient appliances/autos, and of course you recycle those PAPER cups that you picked up from the mall. Btw, maybe you could let Rush know that you feel offended when he chortles about going out and running his car just for the “bend over” value he sees in it.

Hey Dawg, what you do for a living? I am a teacher and I have read many of your comments here and it seems you are always taking personal character jabs but do not offer ideas or engage in discussion.

Let’s say your side is correct and Obama needs to tax all the rich people and all the evil corporations at least 40% – no lets just say 60% because they have done well living the American Dream so they need to pay more! Great – Immediate tax revenue – YEA – that’s the ticket!!! What is your plan when every last one of the “rich” relocates to other countries? Where will you get your money then???

We are ALL responsible for this economic mess! Americans have been living beyond our means “on credit” for decades now and the bubble is about to break. It is simple household economics, just with more zeros at the National level!!! Intelligent people on both sides of the political spectrum continue to turn away from the truth because they do not want to give up their lifestyle. Our grandparents didn’t live beyond their means and I believe it is time to buck up and stop with all the silly fighting and name calling. We have to STOP spending money we don’t have – it is time to downsize personally and as a nation – period!

Neither Beck or Palin have been “benched”. That’s only what your wienie World tells you to think. The very fact that the Conservative WON the State Supreme Court position in Wisconsin, proves that the unions don’t have the support they think they have.

Yea, you far-left nutjobs are loud and obnoxious, but that just turns people against voting for the candidates you want.

As for stupidity, I believe that Barack Obama is one of the most stupidest persons on Earth. I also believe that’s the main reason that he hides his college and university records. He just doesn’t want anyone to know how stupid he is.

At least that’s what all the people here at The Blaze will tell you.

And if you’re a teacher, you might (or should) know that the 400 richest Americans paid an average of 16% income tax. That’s less than you paid.

Tell you what, you guys work that out, and when you’ve adequately rationalized your hypocrisy, give me a ringy dingy. Until then, quit being a socialist living off my hard-earned money.

Oh boy, you are kidding yourself if you think Justice Prosser “won” here in Wisconsin; more like “squeaked by”. Yes he may have won, but by less than 0.5% in a race, as an incumbent, he was predicted to win in a landslide victory less than a month beforehand. In fact, it is quite embarrassing that he almost lost with just weeks of campaigning by Kloppenberg’s side, when he held such a impossibly large lead. Had Walker attempted to destroy the middle class in Wisconsin a few months earlier, Prosser would have stood no chance with the liberal onslaught in this state. The Democrats have only begun mobilizing in Wisconsin and they show no signs of stopping.

So you don’t want to share how you contribute to society, but you must be middle class earning under that infamous $250,000 a year before you get hit with a tax increase per Obama crowd.

Let’s see. A “win” by the left-wing, nut job, woman, is considered to be an amazing victory when the difference is less than 300 votes. A win by the conservative man of over 7,000 votes is considered to be “squeaking by” by you socialist/communist fools.

The political pendulum has swung to the conservative side in this Country, but the far-left refuses to acknowledge this fact.

I’ll predict right now – that Obama will not have a second term, and both the Senate and House will be majority Republican in the 2012 elections. Just as the Socialists have taken over the Democrat Party, the Tea Party has taken over the Republican Party. The 2012 elections will be a battle between good and evil.

The Tea Party is against the murder of unborn children. The Socialist Party is for the murder of unborn children. The Tea Party supports vouchers for poor children to attend schools that are academically superior. The Socialist Party is against allowing vouchers for private schools for poor children. In fact, President Obama shut down the program in Washington, DC that gave vouchers to poor children to attend private schools. George W. supported this program, but Obama ended it because the Unions are against it. Why? The Union Leaders of the Teacher’s Unions get less megabucks, with less children in the system.

The Socialists must be made obscenely wealthy during the Obama Regime.

We need Sarah Palin to be our candidate. Palin/West in 2012. That will bring victory to America and the Republican Party – they’re really the same thing.

@Lollypoppy338: In the District of Columbia, after the outrage of the Republican congress members of the “million man march” the National Park Service is no longer allowed to make estimates of crowd sizes. The “capitol police” do not have anything to do with major events, except to protect the congress, and they do not make crowd size predictions.
These days, journalists make crowd size estimates by analyzing aerial or satellite photos, and use empirical estimates such as parking levels at regional metros, occupancy at regional hotels, numbers of tour buses licensed to enter Federal parks, and saturation of locations such as the Mall or the Reflecting Pool. They are really really good at this, since there are small and large crowds in DC 52 weeks a year.

SARAH needs an awakening? You cannot be serious!

over at America’s Right, Jeff Schreiber started out a commentary:

Modern Day Slavery, 150 Years Later
April 12, 2011 by Jeff Schreiber

I’ve heard it described as “The War Between the States,” “The War for States Rights,” “The War for Southern Independence,” and even “The War of Northern Aggression,” but until last night–the eve of the 150th anniversary of the first shots being fired–I have never, ever, ever heard the Civil War referred to as “The War of White Supremacy.”

But that’s exactly what the Rev. Nelson B. Rivers, III, vice president for stakeholder relations for the NAACP, called it during a press conference yesterday afternoon as he and his associates voiced their discontent over the upcoming sesquicentennial celebration. See the report from our local CBS affiliate here in Charleston:

“Of course, the NAACP’s view is not that the war was about states’ rights, but rather that it was about states’ wrongs,” Rivers said. “Where would we be if the South had won the War of White Supremacy to maintain slavery?”

Want to continue reading? Well, let’s see if THIS works.

The liberals who do not understand what is going on are sliding down the slippery slope that the Progressives are setting up for the eventual enslavement of the people by their own government. They are doing this with raised debt ceilings, excessive spending, and by purposely — yes, PURPOSELY killing jobs in order to make everyone DEPENDENT upon the government. Then, when everything that everyone has saved or is making is gone, there’s no money to pay off the debt. The economy collapses, chaos prevails, and our REPUBLIC IS OVERTHROWN.

And yet we take all this verbal abuse at rallies and here on the Blaze while we are trying to save the sorry butts of the Progressives‘ CHILDREN’s futures and our own children’s futures from Socialism, Communism, whatever George Soros has in mind.

Yes, Obama “heard the voices of the Egyptian people; he saw what was going on ion Libya, but could he give the Republicans half a minute of his attention and cooperation in his thus far two years and a few months and days? No. The Leftists will not compromise. They have the attitude that it’s their way or no way!

WELL, GUESS WHAT, PROGRESSIVES — Our ancestors gave their lives for our freedom, and we just are not going to hand it over to you so we can go back to what Americans were before we revolted against the British. We won then, and we shall OVERCOME and WIN AGAIN!

Well, I figured I would have to break down my comment since people dont really think about what they read anymore.

What to do to keep alll the unwanted people out of the state? Hmmm.. I could build a wall like the one along the southern border of the states.. or enact a huge discrimination bill like SB1070… that would work to. So what if it has no ethical value.

The cotton comment – It has been found true that a lot if not all of Tea Party people are a bunch of old school angry white people still upset that they dont have their slaves anymore to do everything for them . Pffft.

      @338lapua

I am from Wisconsin. I have lived here since I was a teen ager and I currently live in Green Bay. Old school republicans are now classified as democrats. Sorry sir. Early version of Tea Partiers? KKK.

Its scary to think that some poor children are being raised with the views of the tea party… god protect them.

Accurate definition of the Tea Party? So glad I found this.
      1. Tea Party Patriots 418 up, 88 down

buy tea party patriots mugs, tshirts and magnets
A small group of trashy, uneducated, hypocrites who wave signs in protest of things they do not understand. A lot of these people will believe anything you tell them about the government as long as it has to do with taxes and conspiracies. They are constantly concerned that people are coming to take their guns and cite their own made up facts to convince you of it. Fueled by racism, this group did not exist prior to the election of our first African American President. These people share many similar traits to your common Wal*Mart white trash yet have the uncanny drive to create sharpie signs with words on them they will never understand. Their cultural icons are Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Sarah Palin. While most of these toothless rejects don’t possess the mental capacity to blink while walking without falling down, at some point they’ve been made to feel that their ignorant bigoted opinions are worth something more than the welfare checks they receive monthly. Which has led to many comical protests that resemble a trailer park circus. They are not to be taken seriously considering there are currently no professional wrestlers currently considering a Presidential bid. If you do come in physical contact with a Tea Party Patriot be sure to wash the affected area immediately. Lice and stench are the two most common symptoms people report after coming in contact with these brainless, white trash, morons.

Not saying its 100% true but its close. Thats why no one in Wisconsin wanted them. Anti-Culture, Anti- education, anti- everything else that means something to someone else.

I’d trust Sarah with my family which is the most precious thing I have. She’d take away their toys, give them all the spanking they truly deserve and put them all to bed! Sarah has the courage and the strength to do it too. She‘s a survivor who keeps coming back for the fight because she knows it’s the right thing to do.

Washington, D.C. needs a feisty Mom to go in there and straighten them out and clean up the mess. I saw her when she was running as McCain’s VP and wished she was at the top of the ticket. The girl’s got growl!

Some of us are getting all wee-wee’d up and it only makes us look cruel and close minded. The fact is, the people have spoken in Wisconsin. The bill is Not Law, because it is still being held in Court. The Governor admitted under oath that removing Union rights was not an economic decision. Wisconsin senators are on tape saying busting WI unions will hurt the President’s reelection.
Meanwhile, the Tea Party is losing ground, and not gracefully. It turns out many Tea party members have too much class and conscience to support the most egregious overreaching, and it is interesting to see them explain why their being “outnumbered” at rallies is NOT the “voice of the American people,” when every time they had a get together in 2009, they claimed “America has spoken!” They apparently are too insecure to die by their own sword.
Like Mr. Trump, Mrs. Palin, is in it for money; just like Beck, Limbaugh, O’Reilly and Hannity (who are all union members). No ratings, no money, no support; honey.

I’d like to know how the union thug thinks her values are better than the tea party. You either embrace the constitution and what it stands for, or you don’t. AND she votes. No wonder this country is in trouble.

I was about 20 feet from the stage today so I saw this personally.

For me, today was one of the saddest things I’ve witnessed in my life. I’ve NEVER seen this country so divided and so much hatred from the left. The Anti Tea Party people had us outnumbered 10-1 and they were pounding on drums, yelling into megaphones and constantly screaming/chanting over the speakers. It was a disgrace.

I was also in town when a hundred thousand union people were protesting the budget bill and they had Jessie Jackson, Micheal Moore, Ed Shultz, Susan Serandan etc..etc..etc.. as speakers and NEVER once did a conservative try to disrupt their speaches. It’s really a contrast in right or wrong, good vs evil, decent vs disgusting. If I was one of the people on the left I’d be ashamed of myself.

Indeed Sarah, Wisconsion was the first step, the line in the sand. We need only look at the other States that followed suit, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, and these States are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Obama woke us up, he started a fight he can not finish, and all the “proud thugs” on earth together can not stop us, GOD so willing. We won a battle, now let’s win a war.
Let‘s never go to the recesses of hatred and slovenly acts exhibited by the socialist’s, let’s try to avoid being vulgar (yea, that’s gonna be a tuff one for me too!) back at these “takers”, let’s show them like we did on the Mall, we came, we listened, we acted, we left, and we left it better than it was before we got their…that’s love for country…Tea Party patriots ROCK and I thank my GOD for them!

Sorry, he didn’t save any jobs and he admitted than before Congress. The exchange:

Rep. Dennis Kucinich: “Can you please explain to me and members of this committee how much money this provision saves for your state budget?”

Gov. Scott Walker: “That and a number of other provisions we put in because if you’re going to ask, if you’re going to put in place a change like that, we wanted to make sure that we protected the workers of our state, so that they had a right to know what kind of value they got out of it. It’s the same reason we gave workers the right to choose, which is a fundamental American right, a right to choose whether or not they want to be part of a union, and whether or not they want up to a thousand dollars taken out”—

Rep. Dennis Kucinich: “Would you answer the question? How much money does it save, Governor?”

Gov. Scott Walker: “That particular part doesn’t save any.”

Sorry folks, Walker is following the marching orders of his rich benefactors and has saved zero jobs. He gave his political donars a fat tax break and wants teachers to pay for it. He got his way for time being, but he paid a huge political price for it.

We the people are going to win ultimately, because people are going to start realizing that supporting the politics of billionairs don’t make your life better. They just make them richer, and you poorer.

JZS correctly quotes a passage from last week’s State Government Budget Crisis hearings run bu Rep Daryl Issa, who invited Governor Walker to take a victory lap for solving his Wisconsin budget crisis. Gail and other ‘true believers” can watch it on C-SPAN if you have the guts. The questioners are majority republicans, but they could not manage to make Governor Walker look effective or fair and they could not embarrass the Vermont Governor who was also a witness. C-SPAN plays the entire tape without comments or edits, so what you see is what happened on the record. Click: State and Municipal Government Debt, Governors Panel April 14, 2011

Its awesome being from the state of Alaska and being able to talk to Sara Palin and just see her before she became so massively popular. I enjoyed having her here and she would have my support for this next election. Lets just hope Glenn Beck isn’t joking too much about getting involved in politics;) For a man to have so much clout with so many people, i pray he sees that even if he were not able to win an election (he would have my vote) I know he would bring so many issues to the table and place our future politicians on the spot to answer our most dire questions with Honesty and integrity, two of Glenn’s biggest attributes that he has developed.

      Koolaiders;

I know you would like her to disappear. Admit it, she terrifies you! I am reminded that I have the second most beautiful pitbull in America (although she doesn’t wear lipstick), and I can see oBOMAa cowering beneath our desk in the oval office. I would not want to be on the receiving end of her oratory, like the mendacious would-be-in-chief. Go Sarah.

I really love this sweet lady. She is such a wonder human being and really loves America. Compare the richness of her soul and spirit to the vile scum we see among the Oregon socialist protesters and that shows the difference in the quality of people on both sides. Glenn Beck is right it is now a war between the forces of Good and the forces of evil. God Bless you Sarah Palin, you are a such a treasure and Godly woman.

She is an excellent example to us all of the vigor, determination, and vigilance that each one of should have in fighting for our country as citizens with a righteous cause.

It has become clear that quislings like 1/2 term Palin and the rest of the tea party are lost. As it becomes clear that they do not stand with Americans, but with their corporate masters, the American people are abandoning the traitors.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It’s a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering! 545 vs. 300,000,000 People -By Charlie ReesePoliticians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does. You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does. You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank. I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes. Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red. If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it’s because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan … If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way. There are no insoluble government problems.Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,“ ”inflation,“ or ”politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper. What you do with this article now that you have read it… is up to you. This might be funny if it weren’t so true. Be sure to read all the way to the end: Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax the table, At which he’s fed. Tax his tractor, Tax his mule, Teach him taxes Are the rule. Tax his work, Tax his pay, He works forpeanuts anyway! Tax his cow, Tax his goat, Tax his pants, Tax his coat.ax his ties, Tax his shirt, Tax his work, Tax his dirt. Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink,Tax him if he Tries to think. Tax his cigars, Tax his beers, If he cries Tax his tears.Tax his car, Tax his gas, Find other ways To tax his ass.Tax all he has Then let him know That you won’t be done Till he has no dough. When he screams and hollers; Then tax him some more, Tax him till He’s good and sore. Then tax his coffin, Tax his grave, Tax the sod in Which he’s laid… Put these words Upon his tomb, ‘Taxes drove me to my doom…‘ When he’s gone, Do not relax, Its time to apply, The inheritance tax. Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. What in the heck happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’I hope this goes around THE USA at least 545 times!!! YOU can help it get there!!!
