Chicago Robbers Steal $230K of Human Hair Extensions from Beauty Salon

Three Chicago thieves battered through a wall and crawled close to the floor to dodge motion detectors, the Chicago Tribune reports, to steal six duffel bags-worth of human hair extensions from a beauty supply store.

Peculiar as the theft was, it was likely easier than robbing a bank, and the hair extensions were reportedly worth roughly $230,000.

“This is an investment for me,” the store’s owner Don Shin said. “It’s hard to find the natural hair right now, it isn’t always available. So when I have a chance, I buy it.”

He said the criminals took his best merchandise, and thinks the culprits will try to sell the extensions on the street or to salons.

One commenter wrote: “Even hair is on the black market now.  Wow.”

The Chicago Tribune elaborates:

Leaving 35th Street Beauty Supply, Karina Edingburg said hair weaves are becoming more popular as they lose their stigma.

“It used to be embarrassing, but now everybody just does it,” [she] said. “Women with long hair even use extensions now, to make their hair even longer.”

And the natural hair is by far the most in demand because it just looks more natural, said her mother… “It’s all about looking good and feeling good,” she said.

The theft reportedly occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday, and is one of the more peculiar robberies in the crime-stricken city.

Last month, the Huffington Post reported that there had been more murders in Chicago than in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Shin says the thieves didn’t take any of “the cheap stuff” and that they “knew what they were doing.”  Though no arrests were made in a similar robbery last year, Shin is hoping that it will be more difficult to sell such a large quantity of hair.

“It’s going to be hard (to catch them), but they are probably going to try to sell it quickly,” he predicted.

The Inquisitr jokingly writes that the “windy city” may not be safe for humans or human hair extensions after the “Mission: Impossible-style” robbery.

    What we need is ObamaHair!! Everyone needs to donate hair or be taxed into oblivion. We need hair distribution for those who are too lazy to grown their own hair. I’d write more but I have to go stand in line for my new Obamacare appointment.

    This is all part of Filthy Obama Chicago Politics. These items will be added to thousands clothing and makeup items to provide costumes for Democrats to vote numerous times around the country.

    The only reason President Obysmal and all Democrats don‘t want people to have photo ID’s is so they can commit federal crimes at the polls to keep King Z on the White House. They can only win through fraud.

    Saying that congress needs to fix things is suggesting that Obama’s acting alone without a pre-decided agenda or outside support. To say they don’t have a standard process of deceiving the masses while manipulating special interest groups is to say you’ve no clue of what’s going on. Lying & deceiving America without guilt or conscience. For them, lying is a way to manipulate people to carry plans forward. They’re enemies in a world of self-seekers bent on worldly greed. Class warfare has become ignited. Mandated Nat’l Healthcare has divided the masses. Decreasing/Automating the military decreases the human element of Nat’l Security. Decreasing nukes weakens our ability to defend ourselves. Infrastructure upgrades look productive but drains the US bank. Food stamps & unemployment create citizens dependent on Government Aide. Gays & lesbians, pro-abortionist, & American Indians have all been stirred to awaken US discontent. Illegal drugs feed the lower class strung out on drugs. The constitution’s at a place of debate. The US financial condition is faltering. When there’s no money, a weakened military, & we’re stirred to civil unrest, will we not be vulnerable to attack? Will we be divided so that we may fall? Is there an agenda? Are we United Now?

    I believe they should be looking for women disguised as salespeople reselling the hair. Men don’t shop at wig stores. The store was cased by covetous women, who absolutely knew what the good stuff was.

      Those weaves cost 3-6 thousand dollars each. AND they are redone every 6 weeks. Thank God they accept EBT cards.If Al Sharpton shows up with a new weave, it will be suspect.

    Comrades these folks did good honest work, well maybe not honest, but at least it was work. Perhaps Dear Leader will give them a medal for their brave redistribution of the hair!
    You know the British had a General known as the hair buyer, perhaps he is these guys fence. Of course, since General Hamilton died over a century ago they may need another fence.
    Has Dear Leader apologized yet to the Socialist Peoples Republic of Chicago for allowing this hairy theft?
