If you thought a double barrel handgun was cool, you’ll salivate over this triple barrel revolver.
As Gizmodo puts it, if you have an issue hitting your targets, your odds could drastically improve with this small firearm. It notes, aside from being made in Spain, little is known on the “mad gunsmith” that created this revolver. Here’s the description of the gun by Horst Held, an antique handgun dealer in Texas:
A revolver made in Spain probably as a single piece because none of my friends and I remember ever seeing one, nor did I find something in the literature. To adapt the 6.35 pistol cartridge the cylinder has two connected rings in which one can insert the cartridges and closing the second ring, the cartridges are safely stored — similar today’s speed-loader. On the back of the strap is a switch, center position will hit the inner circle, left position six hits skipping one in the outer circle and after pushing to the right the firing pin will hit the remaining six cartridges. Under the switch is additional a safety blocking the hammer. It is a tip-down or break-open system similar the Smith & Wesson models. The 3″ barrel has a fixed front sight and the above pictured description. The cylinder and barrels are blued, the frame is nickel plated, the checkered hard rubber grips are crisp. The former owner doesn’t know about the background, only he claims it is an unique revolver. In good working order and fine condition.

According to the website, the gun is no longer available.
Neatorama calls it “inventive but impractical.” Check out more photos of the gun here.

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 3:49pmNothing new here. BIG DEAL! In the 19th century, there was the Pepperpot revolver. It had SIX BARRELS! Mark Twain said of the Pepperpot: “The only safe place to be with Pepperpot is in front of it.”

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 4:12pmNot really the same thing. The Pepperpot only fired single shots, not three at a time.

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 4:51pmThe pepper box often shot all barrels at the same time, thus M. Twain’s comment…

Maybe it’s for a safer version of Russian Roulette. :P

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 2:34pmWow….a “triple tap” with one trigger pull! Far Frakin’ Out! Some gunsmith had waayyy too much time on his hands…or really had an active imagination that became real. :-)

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 2:31pmI would call it… a Pepper Box… not a Revolver!
Report Post »Gumbercules
Posted on May 11, 2012 at 1:23amNo, it is a revolver. The barrels revolve on a pepperbox, while the cylinder does the revolving on this monstrosity.

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 1:10pmIt appears to be intended for use against body armor. The combined shock wave of impact of three heavy bullets will break bones and injure organs. Even if the bullets cannot penetrate the body armor it will cause bodily harm.

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 3:20pm@ PAP PAP : Balance is not always important: (1) Mulitple attackers from different directions. (2) One attacker that already has you down and is a great deal bigger and somewhat younger than you, plus they are pounding your head. In either case you can: (a) Die ! or (b) Fire center mass at each attacker as in situation (1) or Go for a gut shot at close range as in situation (2). Three shots with one trigger pull per attacker could be quite effective.

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 12:25pmIf you look closely, the barrels are NOT rifled, therefor, you would be lucky to hit a dang thing past 15 yards, regardless of how mant rounds it fired at once. A collecters item, maybe, a practical weapon, nope.

Posted on May 9, 2012 at 10:48pmDetail to me how many handgun fights occur past 15 yards please?
Most handgun fights have a range of 15 feet or less.
That said, this is a novelty, and cute, but I’ll stick with a nice semi-auto 1911 or a reliable single action .45 Colt for personal defense.
