You’ll Never Guess How Much These Young Entrepreneurs Earned Running a Lemonade Stand to Go to Restoring Love

Exclusive Live & On Demand Coverage of Restoring Love Available Now on GBTV Plus – Click for Details.

Marcus and Christoph Carola wanted to attend Glenn Beck’s Restoring Love event, but they just didn’t have the money to make the trip from Orlando to Dallas.

The two brothers had a few options: they could accept it or, as Americans have traditionally done, they could find a way to make it happen with hard work and a determined entrepreneurial spirit. They chose the latter and started a business, hoping to earn the money on their own, never once asking for someone else to give it to them — not even their parents.

They are just kids, you know.

The business owners, Marcus, 10, and Christoph, 13, opened up a lemonade stand in their backyard earlier this month, which just so happened to connect to a golf course that was hosting the Bay Hill Invitational of the PGA Tour. Seeing the valuable opportunity, they sprang into action.

Christoph said he and Marcus were up at sunrise and didn’t close up until the sun was on its way down, sometimes working about 11 hours each day, on their own free will. When all was said and done, the two boys had raised nearly $2,000 — more than enough to send them and their parents to Restoring Love. They even had money left over, but they say they plan on donating the rest to charity.

And the best part — they did it all without a government-issued permit.

TheBlaze caught up with the young entrepreneurs on Friday as they were working the Restoring Love lemonade stand at the Sheraton Hotel in Arlington, Texas where they agreed to share their inspiring story.

“I really look forward to it,” Marcus told TheBlaze, referring to the lemonade stand back home. “When you go outside, you‘re like ’yeah,‘ and you feel energized and you want to do it because it’s fun, you know… And we made all our money to get here by ourselves.”

The boys’ father, Dominic Carola, nearly let his emotions get the better of him when he talked about just how proud he was of his sons.

“It is pretty awesome, I’ve got to admit. They did it all on their own,” he said. “I have to try not to get choked up.”

He continued: “I was just super impressed because they would get up super early, set up the stand themselves and it was unlike anything I’ve seen them do before,” he said. “And they’d have crowds out there and they did really, really well and before I knew it i had to go to Costco to pick up $300 worth of supplies, and then another $300 worth — they were just going through the stuff.”

Dominic told TheBlaze that what his sons did to get to Restoring Love is exactly what has always made the United States the greatest country in the world. It’s not about relying on the government for everything, he explained. It‘s about helping yourself and helping those who can’t help themselves.

“They are learning everything about self-reliance, and if they need to purchase something or they want to do something, they’ve got to try to figure out how to get that money — no one is just going to give it to us.”

Even more impressive, Marcus and Christoph have also founded their own company “Marcus Works,” which develops video game ideas. Though the business has yet to generate any revenue, Marcus says they aren’t discouraged because even when you fail there is a lesson to be learned.

Dominic is the president of Premise Entertainment, a media-based production company specializing in story telling and character development for animation and live action productions, and though his business has seen tough times he wants his children to know that he did build his business, regardless of what President Barack Obama says — and they can build their own too.

(Related: President Obama: ‘If You’ve Got a Business — You Didn’t Build That. Somebody Else Made That Happen’)

“It was really hard to take,” Dominic said of Obama’s “you didn’t build that” remarks. “When you know what you’ve been through, the blood, sweat and tears, literally pouring your heart and soul into your business, it is just hard to hear that.”

He added that God is the only person who has a stake in his success, not the government and not the public roads, so he says the glory goes to Him.

The left overs they want to help others less fortunate than themselves. THEY ARE NOT SELFISH. Read what their dad says..GOD is the ANSWER. As for the kids, they’re living, breathing, proof of what two parents can offer America… and God.

Why not? That is the American way of saying thank you for helping me do a great business adventure and I want to give back some of those earnings to those who cannot do what I did.
That is America. We work hard, we make some money, we give to charity, our church, for cancer,
and for our friends who have less. Everyone gains in America when someone makes money.
That is why making money is not evil. Making money and sharing your good fortune is a moral lesson in giving back. By the way nothing about it is fair it is all about where your heart is and your good sense is. Got it.?

After the income tax, social security tax, unemployment tax, state tax, county tax, city tax, special assessment district tax are paid there shouldn’t be anything left for the charity part of their earnings. If they don’t plan properly they could start the lifelong enslavement to the US Govt because of a tax bill they can never pay off. This happened to Joe Louis who donated $100,000 to the troops from his winnings during WW II – he died penny-less owing the US Govt more than he could ever pay due to his act of charity.

The thing that sticks in my memory the most (though I have just looked it up to make sure I have my facts right), was when Joe Louis had retired broke and owing the IRS about $1 million, which mainly consisted of interest and penalties.

Mr Louis’ mother died and left him exactly $667 in her will.

      The IRS took it.

The way that Mr Louis, a true American hero who gave so much to his country, was treated by an American government agency is beyond shameful.

Really, SIMPLETRUTHS? The lemonade coolers, like the power plant, like the cups, were made by the private sector whom the government will gladly tax. What you marxist don’t understand is that the precious roads you speak of, where made by private citizens, using equipment made by the private sector, using materials mined and fabricated by the private sector, and last but not least, using money to pay for it all by taxing the private sector. Government can no doubt print money; but government – no government – has ever been able to produce money. As a Post Script, the roads would be so much better maintained by the private sector.

The “government” does NOT build roads, private companies do! All the government does is take money from US and channel it into road building, national defence, and other expenditures. In other words, the government creates NOTHING on its own!

As for being able to print money, the government is DESTROYING America by printing more money in order to fund deficit spending. The day will come, if it isn’t already here, when the US dollar will be worthless because the government is no longer to pay even the interest on the public debt, let alone any principle. At that point, investors will totally loose confidence in the dollar, and the economy will collapse like a house of cards.

THAT is what the government is doing to us! So, please DON’T give me this “you didn’t do that,… the government did it” BS because it’s just NOT true!

      @liberalcountry aka encinom.
Ok, once again you parrot something from media matters, or huffpo of some libturd blog.So lets analyze your statement, which btw came from a blog. First, yes the gov’t prints “money”, this was to “standardize” currency in this country,in reality, it gave the gov’t direct control over all moneys and the gold it took to back it up.Second, yes the “gov’t” built roads, but NOT with gov’t workers, but with independent businesses, using gov’t funds.

Now, lets examine the Thomas Payne quote,it is true that without society, the product or service i sell, from a company “I” created and built, i would not be able to aquire the personal property that someone else sold me, from a company “THEY” built. You little libturds always like to quote either the founding fathers or other person of that era to try and prove a point, and as always, it unravels before your eyes. encinom, stick do smoking pot, huffing paint and playing WoW, and let the big boys deal with reality.

here is something that Liberals do not understand. Before cars, there was things called wagon trails, when cars came about and owners found that cars were getting bogged down, some people built roads. Now what the President is talking about was the Federal Highway system, and that was done to allow for the military to move men and equipment in case they were needed. The deal was that the Feds built the highways but the public could use them only if the states maintained them. When neighborhoods are developed (by the private sector) they plan roads so people can have access to their homes or businesses. As people purchase these properties, they pay property taxes which goes to maintaining the roads. So when the President talks about roads and bridges, in most cases he is talking about highways, the average road, county roads, Farm to Market roads, and State Highways are built at the local level either by the local municipality or the state, the Federal Government does not manage, maintain, or build those roads. If you go back 150 years when everyone used horses and wagons pulled by horses, there was not any “Roads” but there was paths. Go visit an old town during the wild west, one road into and out of town, everything was built on that “road”. enough of my ranting….

They did do that , with a little capital backing from a silent partner that covered expenses in a free market . The roads had been paid for long ago , the lemons& sugar they bought gave a profit to the vendors and their cost of the water was negligible . If this was to be an on going business the boys would have to get a tax number and an account book , and learn basic bok keeping :-)

      @LiberalCountry, You are quite stupid.
We live on a small 10 acre farm. We make almost everything ourselves. We cut our own trees for firewood and building materials, grow all our own food (meat, veggies, fruit, grain). We trade with neighbors for the things we cannot make, but they can. This is how it used to be. The only government involved is when we pay taxes. I don’t think the government fed and clothed those first people who moved from East to West…or moved from Europe via the Mayflower to the Americas. The government did not help the Indians build their homes and grow their food. The Government only gets in the way, and taxes everything. People have for centuries protected their own homes with whatever weapons available. And to prove you wrong…just you wait awhile. The way things are going…we’ll all be back to the basics. And the government will NOT be able to help everyone. Katrina magnified a million times.

My bet is that they’re gonna hear from the IRS demanding that they pay income taxes on the net profit. As we‘ll they’ll probably hear from the local public health inspector about selling a food product without a proper permit. Next, the zoning bylaw folks will contact daddy about allowing his kids to operate a business in a residential zone. They’ll also hear from the business licensing department about their failure to purchase the appropriate business license.

I hope these kids and their folks enjoy Restoring Love because when they get home they‘re gonna be swarmed by upset bureaucrats who didn’t get their pound of flesh! When it’s all said and done, my bet is that the fines and penalties will add up to more than what they made in the first please.

It‘s a shame our kids can’t do anything without a permit or? When I was about 12 I’d cut my moms flowers and take them door to door to sell, then I’d pick a few veggies to do the same thing. I’d buy soda pop, put them on ice in a little cart behind my bike and take them to a close by construction site to sell, then I’d go back in a few and collect all the bottles and return to the market for refund on bottles.
No wonder obama thinks you can’t do it on your own. He grew up when they discouraged kids from making money, mowing lawns, etc.
These two boys have a good start to making it on their OWN, after they bow down to the gov’t for all the stupid permits (taxes), etc. No wonder so many kids get into trouble, they have nothing else to do, having to jump through all the hoops to make a few bucks. No wonder it’s easier to knock over old women and grab her purse etc., that way they don’t have to go get a permit first.

Why don’t you check the facts before you make of the top of your head comments. This is what is so sad about some people in America. These people make comments just to hurt people in stead of building up people. I think these kids are wonderful kids with working brains….Rah!

I guess you don’t like Mr. Beck? Well…one can look at several things…..

Mr. Beck has brought together 30,000 Americans to volunteer in one location. (Can you say that about any Hollywood person? Can you say that about Rev. Al Sharpton? Can you say that about TV anchor Anderson Cooper? Can you say that about Congressman Charlie Rangle?)

Mr. Beck has organized (11) 18 wheeler rigs to bring donated food to twelve US cities. How many 18 wheeler rigs have your pulled together to help others? How many such charitable efforts have included the Navajo Nation? (I can tell you VERY few organizations ever remember Native Americans but — bless Mr. Beck’s heart — he did acknowledge and see the need to help the Navajo people.)

People from 20 nations from around the world have been seeking help to have freedom in their countries. Where did they turn to? To America’s politicians? No! To America’s mainstream TV anchors? No! To America’s entertainment folks? No! They showed up on Dallas, Texas at Restore Love to learn about FREEDOM.

I think simpleton misses the whole point. He is one that gets on these sights and tries to make himself look like he knows something and ends up making himsel look like and asx. Obummer did not say it was because of manufacturing. simpleton I hope you have no kids because I don’t want to be paying taxes to try and educte them.

Yeah, other private companies did. Nice try though.

Obama was talking about private companies supplying other private companies??
