Young Grizzly: Bristol Palin Blasts Olbermann for ‘Worst’ Person Label

Bristol Palin must be taking some lessons from momma grizzly. Palin the younger has taken to Facebook to fight back against Keith Olbermann, who labeled Bristol a hypocrite and the “worst” person in the world for advocating abstinence while also being a teen mother.
Here’s what Bristol had to say in a post titled, “Mr. Olbermann–Sorry We Can’t All Be As Perfect As You”:
Recently, a left wing commentator named Keith Olbermann attacked me for being a spokesperson for abstinence education and for being an Ambassador for the Candies Foundation, which promotes teen pregnancy awareness and prevention education. He went so far as to call me “the worst person” he knows, apparently, for my efforts to educate teenagers about the real world risks of premarital sex.
Accusing me of hypocrisy is by now, an old canard. What Mr. Olbermann lacks in originality he makes up for with insincere incredulity. Mr. Olbermann fails to understand that in order to have credibility as a spokesperson, it sometimes takes a person who has made mistakes. Parents warn their children about the mistakes they made so they are not repeated. Former gang members travel to schools to educate teenagers about the risks of gang life. Recovered addicts lecture to others about the risks of alcohol and drug abuse. And yes, a teen mother talks about the benefits of preventing teen pregnancy.
I have never claimed to be perfect. If that makes me the “worst person in the world” to Mr. Olbermann, then I must apologize for not being absolutely faultless like he undoubtedly must be.
To Mr. Olbermann let me say this: you can attack me all you want. But you will not stop me from getting my message out about teen pregnancy prevention. And one day, if you ever have a daughter, you may change your mind about me.

When my daughter became pregnant in college, I immediately took her out of college and put her to work so she could take care of her child. I told her that time for school learning was over and now she was going to have to learn OJT. She did pretty good for the most part. Hopefully her son will not make the same mistakes that she did.

Posted on December 5, 2010 at 6:28pmSo you ruined your daughter’s economic opportunities, her educational prospects, you doomed here to make tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars less over the course of her lifetime, all because you were too much of a prude to let her get an abortion (which are often available at little to no cost from nonprofits) or pay the few hundred dollars it would have cost her (which she could have paid you back, if she had a decent education to get a decent job, you’re THAT much of a hard-ass). No loving parent would willfully diminish their child’s future in the way you have.
This kind of behavior is exactly the reason why women haven’t had as much access to education or economic opportunities to further themselves–women are expected to “accept the consequences of getting pregnant.” Let me ask you a question, if your daughter had instead been a son and he had gotten one of his classmates pregnant, assuming you even heard about it, would you have pulled him out of college? What is his classmate ended up getting an abortion–would you still punish your “son” the way you’ve punished your daughter? They both have equal responsibly in both scenarios, the only differences is that biology inherently places a greater burden of responsibility for the child upon the woman, and, rather than recognize this and make social arrangements to compensate, we as a society legitimate and instutionalize these burdens and expectations–well OF COURSE the reproductive labor, which is not counted in the formal economy, of society should fall to women, right? Of course they don’t need economic autonomy, because they shouldn’t have any political rights that they would need economic autonomy to support anyhow.

And, as for Bristol’s post…it‘s a great post with a great message and she’s doing great work as an “teen activist” but I find it hard to believe she actually wrote that statement after hearing her speak on DWTS. He actually knows the definitions and connotations of all the words he uses in his commentary. Bristol Palin and her sister couldn’t use “You’re” correctly on their Facebook page. She didn’t write that response, any more than her mother writes her screeds.
Question, why is it okay for Bristol to go out and tell about her choices, but a fictional character, Murphy Brown, is responsible for moral decay? Murphy Brown was an educated, self-supporting professional and an adult nearing the end of her reproductive years when her characater decided to keep a baby?

In that time, Republicans controlled the White House for 28 of the 42 years, for 12 of those 28 years, the Republicans had control of the Legislative and Judicial branches of Government. For 6 of those years, Republicans controlled all three branches of Government. In those years, the average real wage for workers went down and then stablized at about $250 a week, and the debt went from less than a trillion dollars, to at least 9 trillion dollars. The Republicans wrecked the economy, but convinced you folks that the Democrats did it.
Yesterday, you told me that you thought it was terrible that foreign born terrorists would be given the same rights as a citizen when accused of crimes in a court, you felt it was destroying the Constitution. Sorry, that’s where you are wrong. The Constitution guarantees the same rights to any person charged with a crime in the U.S. or in a U.S. jurisdiction. An act of terror commited by someone on U.S. soil is under U.S. jurisdiction. A person who commits a crime against a U.S. registered ship can be brought to the U.S. for trial. A person who tries to explode a bomb on a U.S. plane or in U.S. airspace is under U.S. jurisdiction. That is the thing that makes our Constitution so good and so strong and so fair is that it is blind to who the accused is. For you to claim you love the Constitution but then say you‘re offended when it works the way it’s supposed to is not someone who loves the Constitution.
Yes, I watched this clip the other day. Newt Gingrich made a horrible, disgusting mess of his time as Speaker of the House, he is one of the most divisive figures in American politics. He is part of the reason the Government has become so partisan and militant. You probably won’t believe me, but read up on what he actually accomplished as Speaker. If you really want to live in a country with only one party and one political opinion, I don’t think you want to live in the United States that I know and love.
And lastly, you repeated embrace of the phrase “Victory or Death” might be interpretted as sedition, and if you actually do take up arms against the Government, then you will be guilty of treason. I spent 28 years of my life holding my tongue while Republicans ruled and ruined the country. President Obama is the head of a duly elected Government. He has precided over the biggest increase in jobs in nearly a decade, in one of the worst economies in generations. He has not abused the Constitution as President Bush did. I have always worked within the system, I don’t say I love the Constitution and then say I want to do away with several amendments. Be careful with the matches you are playing with, you might get burned. Glenn Beck isn’t telling you the truth, he isn’t giving you all the facts, neither is Fox. Turn off Fox and start researching, and forget looking at the bogus books that Glenn assigns, you are being sold a sham.

Believe me, no one becomes an accomplished dancer in a couple of months. She did very good and a quick learner.

Do you see how, even when Sarah Palin’s face was on the show, everybody was fairly OK with it, so long as she kept her mouth shut about Politics. Well done, Sarah Palin – Politics is VERY important, but that was not the venue.
But then the viewers kept bringing her back! It was like watching Kate Gosselin (sp?).
DWTS has a way of bringing people together from various backgrounds, and it’s great to watch them develop as dancers – or sometimes not. For example, Kelly Osbourne was lovely, and became sexy instead of an obnoxious brat.

Will someone over at MSNBC please explain to Keith Olberman that the most effective way to NOT get pregnant is to NOT have sex. If the lesson of abstinence is applied as taught, it works each and every time.
Next, Jennifer and Lawrance evidently know each other well because of a long time friends of the family type of connection, and I’m guessing she knows he is an admitted Socialist. Can you imagine if this info had been known say a week prior to the finale, people would have called-in for Bristol double the amount they did.
I was glad to see Jennifer win the competition solely based on her dancing, but if I had known about her friendship with Mr. Socialist, and her attitude towards Bristol, I would have picked up the phone and voted for Bristol. As it was, I only watched the finale show to see if she would win.
Although I hate it for the Palins, all the lefts hatred for anything Palin is a very good sign for all of us Sarah-for-president fans. Maybe its time for some of these dirt-bags to go to Alaska to have private one-on-one chats with Todd! Out behind the woodshed.
