Your Tax Dollars Paid To Learn That Cocaine Helps Rats Enjoy Miles Davis’ Music (& More!)

Politicians always seem to be confused as to why their work is not appreciated. Could this have anything to do with the endless parade of stories about government incompetence and waste?
Let’s review a few of the latest examples of elected officials throwing away taxpayer dollars in something we call “This Week in Government Waste”:
- It was just seven days ago that Glenn Beck reported on the $205,000 that was spent to “translocate” (definition: move) a single bush that was standing in the way of a $1.045 billion dollar, stimulus-funded highway construction project in California.
- The Department of Energy was called on the carpet for having almost as many taxpayer-funded vehicles (15,108) as they have employees.
- Washington DC catches a bunch of employees cashing paycheck while also collecting unemployment.
- One day later, the Obama administration is talking about a “Bridge To Work” that will allow people to continue to collect unemployment as they “try out” a job.
- A bankruptcy court approved $368,500 in bonus payments to 20 Solyndra executives. Taxpayers are on the hook for a loan of $535 million, and the execs who took lead the company are getting bonuses after the place closed down.
All of those stories are enough to make you want to slap a “Ron Paul for President” sticker on your bumper and start screaming about shrinking the size of government. However, they pale in comparison to the story about a government funded study from 2011 that gave cocaine to rats and then tested their musical preferences.

Albany Medical College received two grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to play classical music and jazz music for rats and test their reactions. And then they gave the rats cocaine and repeated the test. Apparently the little drug addicts found Miles Davis’ music more palatable when they were under the influence of coke.
The coked-up rat story was part of a list of 10 ridiculous studies on animals pointed out by a group that is against using animals in research called, In Defense of Animals (IDA).
The summaries of the studies that IDA is complaining about reads like a Letterman Top 10 list.

Just reading each one of those titles inspires comedy that practically writes itself. And then you realize that all of us were asked to pay for these studies! Tax dollars were used to fund each and every single study on that list.
Again, recent polls about the performance of our elected officials does not bring good news for any incumbent:
- Most Americans believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction.
- Congressional approval sits at 17%
- President Obama’s approval rating is still below 50%
Perhaps the people have caught on to the rampant waste, fraud, and abuse by many of those we have charged with spending our hard-earned money?

They came to the same conclusion I had as I read it. Toddlers don’t have good balance. Fifty years ago my buddies dad had a dairy and he had a radio turned up real loud with Gospel music and guess what – it calmed them down while the machines were milking them.

Every November and December they are scrambling to spend thousands and thousands of dollars they haven’t yet, even though they don’t need to spend it. Why? If they don’t spend it they lose that money in their budget the next year. Instead of getting commended for being resourceful and efficient they are penalized by not getting the money the next year. So some of them spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on stuff they don’t need.

I have been encouraging voters to vote. They, about 20, said their vote doesn’t count, but made the case to them to think about their grandchildren & they say they will vote Nov 2K12. Please…if you know people that are on the fence, please talk to them. It has helped, believe me, in many talks I have had with people who were NOT going to vote and will be voting!

The ones receiving these drugs shipments should be tried for treason with the death sentence on the table.
The ones distrubiting drugs should be charged with aiding and abetting treason and sedition with a life without parole sentence on the table.
Those on the street selling drugs who have no addiction themselves should get a minimum of 10 years the first time, no early release.
The ones on street level who are addicted and are dealing to supply themselves, after it is established they are in that position and not for gain of financial advancement and who really want help should have help available, thoroughly to what extent possible until it is such they will not allow themselves to be helped, or it is obvious they cannot maintain. Some decisions should then be made to evaluate their status and if the situations call for it, keep the addicted where they will not be in a position to harm the public. This last is the only one that should have any amount of latitude.

Voters/taxpayers believe these people & they go to D.C. and write laws to hog-tie us & keep demanding more tax dollars. Many voters/taxpayers have to work ONE YEAR to make $40K! The GSA story & some say, Bob (the 5) “can we talk about something else that are bigger issues?”. This is the defense of ALL politicians.
