‘You’re a Bum, Jew’: Jewish Man Berated by Wild Wall St. Protester, Told to ‘Go Back to Israel’

We’ve been reporting on the Occupy Wall St. protesters for some time now, but we haven’t seen any signs of racism. Until now. But are they the ramblings of a disturbed man?

National Review correspondent Charles Cooke posted video Tuesday of a young man berating an older Jewish man, calling him a bum (it seems in response to being called the same term), mocking him by asking him if he speaks English, and telling him to “go back to Israel.”

Cooke describes the exchange:

Moments after I arrived, I saw a Jewish gentleman being berated when he criticized a protester. (Shortly after my video camera was switched off, he (inexplicably) shouted the N-word at the same man.)

Here’s the shocking video:

As you can hear in the video, the man claims to be part of a local plumber’s union. But that could be erroneous, as Cooke notes he claimed to be a lot of things: “he told me that he was white, Puerto Rican, Jewish, and African-American. I suggested he was, in fact, Confused, but he didn’t take much to that.”

Also heard in the video is that the man goes by the name “lotion man” and tells Cooke to look him up on YouTube. We did, and what we found is quite disturbing.

According to one video, “Lotion Man” is actually someone named Danny Cline. In the video, he can be seen getting into another verbal argument, using extremely vulgar language, and repeatedly using racial slurs:

In a second video on YouTube, “Lotion Man” is seen trying to pierce his tongue with an earring and again saying some wild, whacky, and disturbed things (same CONTENT WARNING applies for language):

And finally, a third video shows “Lotion Man” actually harassing some people while later bragging about meeting some of the celebrities that came down to the park to join the protests (same CONTENT WARNING):

The latter videos raise the proposition that the first video could be the ramblings of a very unstable man.

      @platitude I think the difference is in the people observing the interaction. I don’t know about other people, but I found it disturbing how rude this little druggie was being and no one else even told him to knock it off. I suspect, certainly at the tea parties I have been to, the others would have told him to stop and then reasonably discussed the issue with the older gentleman (though in my experience at the tea party it is usually the counter protestors being rude). However, your main point is not without merit, I would like to see more examples than one (from his other videos) mentally disturbed person, though like I said, I do not like the reaction of the bystanders

      Does this article really say that this fellow used the N word to describe a J? Gee maybe we should have a ban on using NJ on the same person, unless of course, they really are an N and a J! Years ago, I heard an anti-semitic remark voiced at a club meeting! There was an outcry from the members to trounce the utterance; but then, the object of the remark, a Jewish member, quietly stood up and stated the obvious–No, let the man speak, for it is only through his remark that we know where he stands! So, for all you people of color out there, being outraged that a C would dare utter N to refer to someone that you might think of as yourself, whilst being proud that someone more of your heritage might rap N, N, N all night, is really not a good thing! Maybe the reason there is suspicion that the use of N is latent in every H (as in Honkey) is that the C that might use N isn’t allowed to display his true colors, so to speak! Better think twice about trying to erase a word, and with it a rich myriad of meanings having little or nothing to do with what offends! Speak up, all the biased and bigots, so that we can see who you are and have a civil dialogue about your problem, BEFORE it becomes our problem!

      I had an interesting dialogue, recently, with a woman of African descent, an American of African descent (which is not the same as an African-American)! In a discussion of leaders, she said that she didn’t think much of Malcolm-X, because he told the Blacks that they must hate Whites! She said she couldn’t do that, because how can one hate their own people–you see, her grandfather was white! I mention this, because I’d bet the fellow who made the anti-semitic remark probably has some Jewish blood in him, if he were to look back far enough! Be careful what you hate, because it just might be yourself!

      You are so right on so many levels. Using any of those racial slurs lets people know where you stand, and yes, he probably does have Jewish heritage. I researched my family tree, and I have some Jewish sounding names (could be fundamentalists, don’t know for sure, from the German area – Ishmael, etc.). I had a Russian immigrant at Kroger tell me I looked Russian (high cheekbones) and possibly Jewish. I always thought it was the American Indian, but that’s what got me looking. I always figured I had too many nationalities to be hateful of anyone. I’m American.

      If this unstable man is the example of “anti-semitism “ the Blaze is using for ”proof” then I can only laugh. This man is clearly not stable and needs a good person in his life to help him find God and resolve the many issues he openly shares subconsciously. I honestly feel sorry for this man for he is clearly lost. 

      There are much better examples of anti-semitism to be shown than someone calling a Jewish man a Jew…Or saying go home to Israel. Did the Jewish man begin this exchange and call him a bum? Calling these people bums and mocking them does no one any service, just creates hate and division. 

      These are the opportunities we believers should be using to share God’s Word. Something to ponder…..

Last count I heard over 700 have been arrested during this monstrosity (the moron above included) alone… with more to come directed by Van Jones and company. This guy is just one of many.       I am really sorry because in my heart I am peace loving, benign and most of all a lover of beauty and passionately for allowing freedom of speech but when I see these “people” who have occupied Wall St,, I must say that I see worthless garbage people taking up space and contributing absolutely nothing of value.
      I went from watching the video of Steven Lerner to this one…and I went from feeling good to feeling furious.
      As a Jew watching that little make up wearing worthless punk, I was filled with anger.
      The thing that angers me most is that these human pieces of *vile word here* affect me negatively and I feel like retaliating and I don’t know what I can do to affect any positive change against their poison other than to paint more, paint better.
      I don’t understand how inciting violence is just fine and dandy now…….

      Personally having not watch the video I suspect that these people are vile and slime but I would never threaten their 1st admendment rights. Why do so many Jews feel they have this authority to take away Rights which were given under our Constitution?       Go back and actually read the story, genius. Third sentence in, the author raises the point that it might be the individual rantings of a disturbed individual. This theme is revisited again near the end (and maybe once more, but I’m not scrolling up to check). Did you miss that they posted other videos of the same person?

      I’d agree with you that it was hypocritical if all they had posted was the original video and a condemnation. As it is, it is stated more than once that this might be one crazy guy (having watched other videos, he is not the only nutbag out there, but that’s neither here nor there). On the other hand, CNN would zoom in on one nutcase (at a Tea Party) and then outright say that everyone is like that.

      Completely unrelated, but I dislike this guy’s mannerisms. I wonder if he realizes how effeminate he looks to someone not from NY?

My husband was in the millwright union and lost his job because they found out that he votes republican. Funny, I always thought that the left was all about diversity and excepting those who are different or in the minority. The truth is they only except those who think the same way that they do. They will use any means necessary to get their way, and that definitely includes violence. On several different occasions when union workers went on strike at different plants, my husband refused to work at these places as a replacement worker because he would be threatened with violence. These are big guys who refused to work at these places. The union workers would carry guns to threaten anyone willing to come into the plants to work. The union, what a sad and sick joke. .

I doubt the brown shirts knew what was in store for them after the Nazis were done with thier “useful idiotness”. I doubt they realized they were simply tools of the very ppl who professed to be for “their” cause. I doubt these morons know that the very greed and cronyism they are protesting is being brought to them by Obama and the politicians they seek to reelect. I doubt they know their usefulness will end and they will be the first who will necessarily be erradicated by the very politicians they uphold as beacons of the change they seek. They have been taught about revolution in foreign countries, and how it was not a bloodbath with ppl like them being on the receiving end of the bullets. They perceive what they are doing as not leading to an actual end, and that end likely being their end. They haven’t truly pondered the possibility of a population filled with citizen patriots who have served in the military, and citizens who are hunters, and citizens who are experts with all manner of weapons and their bare hands who are suddenly thrust into poverty due to their actions and seek to retaliate. They know not the wrath that they seek to unleash upon themselves should the **** truly hit the fan due to their actions!

      By peaceful, I believe that Glenn means that we shouldn’t start anything. If a tea party member shoots someone or invokes riots, the riots and violence that comes after the incident will be blamed on the tea party. Glenn is not saying not to defend yourself or take their crap, but to not start anything and watch what you say, how you say it and know your facts.

      I feel sorry for these creatures. They will be the first to be killed in a communist/Nazi state. They are simply useful idiots and that have no clue on what they are doing or what they stand for. Class warfare is sad.
