Man Arrested on Southwest Flight After Yelling Allahu Akbar

Angeles to Kansas City compelled the flight crew to make an emergency landing in Texas.

Ali Reza Shahsavari, 29, of Indialantic, Fla., has been charged with interfering with a flight crew, said Patrick Rhodes, Amarillo’s aviation director. He was booked into the Randall County Jail in Canyon, where he awaited an appearance before a magistrate.

Flight 3683 landed without incident and the man was taken into custody for questioning by federal officials. None of the 136 passengers and five crew members was injured, and the aircraft resumed its flight after a security sweep, said Brad Hawkins, spokesman for the Dallas-based airline.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports on what the Associated Press won’t, mainly what Shahsavari shouted:

“You’re all going to die,” a man dressed in black screamed at passengers Tuesday afternoon. “You’re all going to hell. Allahu Akbar,” translated as God is great in Arabic.

Initially, authorities said the man had tried to break into the cockpit but Amarillo Aviation Director Patrick Rhodes later said he was “not trying to break into the cockpit, but was unruly and had confronted the cabin crew.”

Passenger Doug Oerding told the Amarillo Globe-News that Shahsavari started screaming obscenities at other passengers during the flight. Attendants attempted to calm Shahsavari and then he went to the bathroom at back of plane and started making a commotion, Oerding said.

“All of us guys were looking at him like are we going to have to do something,” Oerding said.

He said a flight attendant got Shahsavari to calm down. The flight landed and police officers came onto the plane and took him into custody, Oerding said.

Father Mohammad Shahsavari confirmed the suspect was his son and that he understood his son was well, but he did not know what led to the incident.

“I don’t know what to say,” he told The Associated Press from his Indialantic, Fla., home.

The FBI said initial indications were that the incident did not appear to be terrorism related. The passenger’s identity was not immediately released.

“The FBI continues to investigate, but initial indications are that there was no terrorist intent. This guy is a U.S. citizen,” said FBI Special Agent Mark White in Dallas.

      Why are they targeting Southwest? I think, because Southwest is a “threat” (business wise) to all the other airlines. They are not charging for baggage, lower fares, etc. Gosh even the gays, radicals, etc have been “challenging Southwest.

      Let’s think this out. A man yells “You are all going to die” and “Allahu Akbar” and he is not a terrorist because he is a US citizen. What part of those rants is not terroist in the view of the FBI? WTF does it take to be a terrorist?

      I did a lot of business travelling and decided early on that I would use every combat skill the Army taught me to render a threat neutralized before I would be in a flying bomb. Was there not a single passenger with industrial grade clangers to neutralize this terroist?

      I know this much, if the guy started shouting “You are all going to die…” on the plane I am on, and I can stop him, I would do my best to do so…at that point I consider all bets off and the message he is giving to be a lethal threat to my and others safety…all bets are off.

      Agreed. If someone yells at me that I’m about to die, followed by “allahu akbar”, I take that as a threat of imminent lethal force, and will respond accordingly.

      Yelling “allahu akbar” is comparable to yelling “Fire!” in a crowded theatre, and then throwing a lit Molotov cocktail.

      The people that were on this flight were a bunch of idiots! This guy would not be walking off that flight if he yelled that while i was on the flight.This is the thing with alot of Americans these days. They don’t think another 9/11 could happen..Maybe not the same way as 9/11 but Islam is a credible threat not only to the USA but all over the world!       I was wondering when somebody was going to mention that – in his photo he appears not to have so much as a scratch – if I was on that plane this guy would have been taken out of the airport in a body bag. It is not because there were cowards on that flight – it because of the apathetic attitude of American’s today – they don’t want to get involved – too late, Muslim extremest have declared War on Not Some – but ALL Americans – Protect yourself and your family – starting now.

      FBI just arrested 3 Muslim Extremest last night in San Antonio at 2am breaking into a downtown building – photos of soft targets like Mall, Water Supply, Sport Stadiums, Grocery stores etc were found in their vehicle.

      If any American, uses electricity, or shops for food in a grocery store – your a Target – wake up and put your apathetic attitude aside. Protect yourself and your family.

      No Shiite! If I’m on a plane or train for that matter and someone says that, he won‘t hear the echo of his words before I’ve tackled and hog tied him (pun definitely intended!). PC be damned, just saying that on a crowded aluminum tube 30k feet in the air is prima facie terrorism!!       That would be inductive reasoning or probabilistic reasoning. It used by most living organisms.

      However, since it is not 100%, a person who uses it is dismissed out of hand by the left as not being LOGICAL. I have seen leftists posters belittle people before.

      But it is a very good way oof reasoning that with Decision analysis keeps people alive

      People need to know the limits of this type of reasoning, use it with decision analysis like they have since the beginning of time, & push back against the left.

      Why? Because they can only motivate people via EMOTION, because conservatives fight for THE TRUTH. Since they are determined to be POLAR OPPOSITES, then they must fight for LIES and DECEIT.       “There was no terrorist intent” authorities said. How do they know that? His actions certainly fit with those of others who not only had “terrorist intent” but also carried out the “intent”. People like this should be sent to Guantanamo for questioning and screening and kept there until they are either tried and convicted, or proven to be harmless or until the Global War To Defend Ourselves From Radical Islamist Jihadism is over, which ever comes first. Supreme Court Justices Robert Jackson and Arthur Goldberg have both written that the Constitution is “not a suicide pact”.
