After Bill Maher debuted a clip last week from Nancy Pelosi’s filmmaker daughter interviewing stereotypical “redneck” Mississippi residents about their political views, Alexandra Pelosi unveiled a new clip during his HBO show Friday night, this time exposing so-called “welfare queens” in New York City.
The latest clip, which Maher predicted was “the thing that will make liberals go insane,” featured Pelosi’s interviews with a series of people outside an inner welfare office, most of them black and unapologetic about taking their government handouts despite being able-bodied and physically able to work.
First, here is the portion that aired last week, featuring white Mississippi residents calling President Barack Obama a Muslim and admitting to not liking him because he’s black:
There was a strong reaction to the clip last week, and Pelosi readily acknowledged that the people shown were stereotypes.
“They’re just snapshots,” she said. “Now, by Monday morning, you’re going to have the left-wing feeding frenzy attacking you for making the Democrats look bad.”

For the latest clip, Pelosi said, “It’s not as if I have to go too far to find the freeloading welfare queens,” noting that the welfare office is across from her home.
She began by interviewing the doorman, who said he sees people every day who “don‘t look like they’re handicapped in any way, they just look like they don’t want to work.”
A sample of the responses she got from the welfare recipients:
- “I’m here trying to get some Obama bucks. That‘s what I’m doing, trying to get some Obama money.”
- “I want a check.”
- “Tell me why you like Obama.” — “Because he gives me stuff.”
- “Who you going to vote for?” — “Obama.” — “Why?” — “Because he’s black.”
- “When was the last time you actually worked?” — “About half a decade”
- “You’re a perfectly healthy young man, why aren’t you working right now?” — “My background. Once you go to jail it’s hard to get a job.”
- “Why should my tax dollars be going to you?” — “My ancestors came here to help build this place — my ancestors, slaves.”
- “Do you really want to work, or do you just want to get a free check?” — “I just want to get a free check.”
After the clip played, Pelosi noted Maher’s studio audience “didn’t laugh that much” compared to the Mississippi clip, and said some of her colleagues at HBO said of the footage, “You can’t put that on TV.”
“Somehow you were allowed to do that to the toothless rednecks but when it was our neighbors — ” Pelosi said.
Of the doorman, who she said comes from a family of Democrats, Pelosi said, “the entitlement culture‘s gotten so big that we’re losing our people.”
But Maher said the points made by some in the video, particularly about slavery or having been to jail, were legitimate, saying there’s a stronger “legacy” compared to the white Mississippians who are merely carrying “a chip.”

They then pay for the food stuff with their Government credit card. I can see the cashiers don’t like the fact that they are working for $8.00 an hour and put in 8 hours. I saw a male cashier turn red in the face when the two women that just did this were talking about going to the Chickasaw Gameing Center.

I have a sinking suspicion it‘s because helping out combat veterans won’t necessarily translate into votes for the Democratic party. There aren’t any programs to help combat veterans who are underwater in their mortgages or anything like that, no special educational benefits for soldiers who have served in combat. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any Government funded programs specifically to help combat veterans? Why is that? I really would like to see someone ask Obama about this. Sure there are programs to help wounded warriors with rehabilitation but that’s it. It would be great if a congressman or senator would author a bill to refinance combat veterans who are underwater in their mortgages, they have given all for us and we should give something back to them instead of spending billions of dollars to help people who admit they don’t want to work and just want a hand out, how is this helping our country? We are giving nothing to those willing to sacrifice everything and giving everything to those willing to sacrifice nothing. To all of the politicians out there are you listening? How about some benefits/entitlements for those in our country who have worked hard and risked their lives for us, lets give something back.

Report Post »With that said….I am a non Combat Perm/Total 100% Disabled Vet. I blew 3 discs L4-L5, L5-S1, T7-T8. During our “mock-up NTC” at Ft.Hood 3 weeks before deployment. My MRI results came back 1 week before Deployment. My tank and my Gear was already in Iraq. Folks in my Position have ZERO benefits outside of VA. No case managers ,no OIF/OEF program we have nothing. The Question I have been wondering is how do Vet‘s in my position ask for much needed help without down playing or taking anything away from Combat Vet’s? ARMY sent me out with a 10% while VA and SS gave 100% First time around. The Director of ABCMR (ARMY Board of Corrections for Military Records) admitted that my case had been filed and completed improperly but I am not a Combat vet so I can’t get any reprieve. They created a new board just for these cases (PDBR) yet the 6 year Statute Of Limitations has run out before it was created it in my case. The ARMY has the worst rate of proper percentages given out of all the branches. The PDBR has a greater than 50% turnover rate. Meaning more than half of the Service members who were put out of the military with a 20% or below rating have been given 30% or more therefore qualifying them for Medical Retirement. That is a huge injustice. Any rating below 30% means they cant get any benefits from the Military only the VA.

part of the problem is that there are just to many turds in the Army looking for the permanent profile, and the eternal pay check. Back injury is the number one way they look to get it. Too many folks raised on welfare, and have bought into the OWS mentality. It is all about trying to get something, because they think someoe owes it to them.
I have 25 years in, and I hate when people always say “make sure you get everything medical on paper” what they are saying, is make sure you get on the system. You know what? I do not need thier system. If you get on the system, you owe them your soul, and your vote. They can not get either of mine. I now have arthritis in my hands and elbows, degenerative disks in my back, and steel screw in my wrist. I volunteered for this, and it is part of the package. When I retire, I will get my retirement check, I earned it. I will then go out and get a job, and continue to be productive.

Wow. There is a Huge difference in Back pain and MRI Verified Herniated discs. I guess this is where the problem is, People with real injuries treated as a joke because of people with fake injuries. I volunteered too, I didn’t have a choice in getting injured but I sure have dealt with the whole “Suck it up” mentality. Were not talking about a healed injury. This is a permanent life altering event That I didn’t ask for. I guess I deserve nothing of the promises made to me when I signed up because of cheaters and folks who have healed? It is precisely this mentality that kept me pushing myself, and being pushed by the “Suck it up” crowd that prevented my injuries from healing. I am glad you can work with your injuries, I would love nothing more than to be able to work. But that isn’t my choice. Fact is had I been injured 3 weeks later I wouldn’t have any problems getting the benefits I earned. Maybe I read your reply wrong but it sure sounded to me like you are being very condescending. I have worked since I was 14 years old when I was kicked out of my house by my mothers boyfriend. I had 3 kids by the time I was 19 and I raised and supported them myself without a handout. I also put myself through college at the same time. I worked full time and went to school full time. Most days I only got about 2-3 hours of sleep. You are correct. The problem is that the only way to fix it is for the economy to reset. Unfortunately, by the time that happens, the politicians would have made 75% of the population dependant on Social Programs. The 25% remaining will be rounded up and executed. The only way to have a chance is for as many non-politicians as possible run for elected offices everywhere. If enough normal people are elected, we may get to turn this thing around. If we keep electing the same people because they have a “D” or “R” next to their name, this country will go the way of the Dinosaurs.

Everyone who wants to take money from the taxpayers should be REQUIRED to work 40 hous for it.
You can sweep a floor, even if it was swept 7 times already. This teaches people to WORK for money.
Plus, when a job comes along, they will take it because it pays better than welfare. Right now, welfare pays INFINITY as opposed to $10/hr. (A welfare check of any amount, divided by zero hours worked, equals INFINITY per hour!!)
Also, payments should decrease with time. You get 60 days, then, it drops 15% every 2 weeks. YOU get to choose when it is too painful and when to get a real job.
Physically disabled would be an exception, but, none of this, I’m too stressed to work crap !

And I applaude Pelosi for not laughing at the degrading comments Maher was throwing out after the “welfare Queen” segment. While we all know that both sides have extremes, it does no good to keep running the same thing over and over again. It simply fuels both extreme sides. And for danylion, I think what Beck talks about has absolutely nothing to do with 90% of the posters here. If you would even bother to check to see what Beck has been doing rather than assuming you know because of what other people say to you then you would know the truth. I haven’t seen any TV or radio personality talk more about God, family, and country then Mr Beck. If you are in the Texas area July 26-28, you should check out the “Restoring LOVE” rally that Beck is paying for out of his own pocket. The Ph.L. (licentiate in philosophy) is a pontifical degree licensing the folder to teach philosophy in Catholic seminaries, colleges, etc. It requires two years of academic work beyond the M.A. and includes a moderated thesis. My specialty is philosophy of science and philosophical theology.

I’m thankful for being on welfare and being able to have food, pay the bills, etc. All kinds of people have it though in the U.S. But there are many people; not all Black or minorities, just want “free money” or hand outs. There have been times my mother said “it’s free money!”. I would have to say yes and no. This money is a blessing but it comes at a price in making us lazy and looking for work more difficult. It’s a long and boring story on why my family is on welfare and government programs. Even though I’m thankful for all the benefits I can get I know they will not last forever and I have to make something out of myself. It is sad to see how many people only want “free, free, free“ or ”cheap, cheap, cheap” hand outs and bad quality items.

Posted on March 17, 2012 at 9:13amWhere do I began? Growing up my parents were in their 40′s; my dad became 50 when I still a kid. My mother was a house wife and my dad was a carpenter. Many family members were/are carpenters. During my schooling I was in special education. Many of my friends were on welfare and their families were receiving food stamps. I can recall when the early years when my family struggled to have basic necessities to provide for us and also pay the bills. Over the years my parents got sick My parents are diabetic and my dad had a kidney transplant which he needs to take all kinds of medication. To be honest I do not know everything I just understand that they’re getting older and sicker. Both my older brothers are also on welfare. My older brother Peter is on welfare and is living with us to help pay rent and my oldest brother Paul has two kids and they’re all on government pay. So, over the years with the raising cost, family having various problems (sickness, drugs, etc), low employment, etc we really are in a bad situation. As I mentioned I’m blessed to be able to be on welfare and still be able to enjoy my life. As you can already tell I have a computer with internet connection. I’m able to use that to communicate and study various subjects. But my main goal is the enlist in the Marine Corps. I do not want to be on welfare my entire life. I cannot control the actions of my family. If they need to welfare to provide for their needs then I will accept that. But I’m more then ab

Would they have found another way to provide for their needs if they didn’t receive welfare? The system has been horrifically abused with no signs of ending. Sure there are individual cases out there but, more often than not, the hand-out provides for lazy people who choose not to work.

Posted on March 17, 2012 at 10:33amAs for me, I worked two or three low-level jobs for over 8 years to provide my own way starting at the age of 16 as well as graduating in the top 10% of my class. I never would have considered asking the government or anyone else to provide for me.
As to welfare versus charity, the HUGE difference is voluntary giving. The government NEVER spends tax money wisely which is why there is so much widespread abuse of the system.

If the military didn’t work out I would do everything I can to become independent. There are a few road blocks in my path before I enlist. I need to get my GED and enough credits from college before I enlist in the military. Even though I’m 23 I feel I can earn the title of the Marine and have a great life in the Marine Corps. My father was a Green Beret in the Army during Vietnam. He is one of the many influences for my choice in the military.

Getting into better shape and eating healthier, making sure all my business is took care of, learning more and more about the Marine Corps and military lifestyle, etc. I would imagine it was different for a lot of people to enlist. When I asked different recruiters they all told me what I need and I’m going to get what I need to enlist.

Your story fascinates me. First, your literary ability and use of the English language is better than our current President’s command of the language. If you were in special ed, you were either really REALLY BAD, OR, you have ADHD! It was not due to lack of intelligence.
I take issue with your presumption that you cannot stay on Welfare forever. WHY NOT? Most people with a family history of welfare carry on to become second and third generation welfare recipients. The fact that you are intelligent makes me suspect you will perfect the knowledge required for remaining on public assistence. This is why many Americans resent welfare recipients. Most needy working families don’t have the knowledge of the Welfare system possessed by second and third generation Welfare recipients. They rarely have access to the same help your family has, such as your luxury of being able to “wait” to take your GED and your 16 college credits, while gaining your own type of knowledge in your free time from the Internet.
I’m curious – if your father was in the Green Barets, why would you be on Welfare now? Didn’t he take full advantge of the programs open to him, including medical treatment through the VA?

Is it because you found out that with one semester of college you can go to officer’s training school, avoid the worst assignments, and be assured of the best possible career the armed forces has for you?
Poor working families don‘t have such options because they don’t have the background knowledge from manipulating the Welfare system for generations to get the most benefits they can, whether or not they are needed or deserved.
Our own president is an affirmative action recipient. and unlike his wife who is genuinely smart, the president had none of the credentials or the smarts to get into Harvard. Once accepted he never would have passed his courses if Harvard didn’t have a Pass-fail and “composition” system set up for affirmative action students. As for his appointment to head the Harvard Law Review, that too was an affirmative action appointment. The editor of the Law Review is supposed to be the brightest Harvard student, NOT a political affirmative action appointee.
You can see how a person with inside knowledge of the system can parley what he has into a position he didn’t earn and was never qualified to hold.
You are easily smart enough to use the system and to do well to make the best of your life. People of working families, equally as smart resent they can’t get the same benefits as you because of their color or because they aren

If EVERYONE who needs free programs to get ahead had access to these programs we wouldn’t have such anger and resentment in this country.
