‘Zombies’ Confront Westboro Protesters as They Trample the American Flag & Picket Against the Military in WA

Westboro Baptist Church, a radical group that is no stranger to controversy, has had a busy few days. We already told you that, on Saturday, members showed up in Dallas, Texas, to protest Glenn Beck and “Restoring Love.” Just 24 hours before this spectacle, eight participants in the hate group stood outside of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, a military facility in Dupont, Washington, to allege, as they have before, that soldiers‘ deaths are a result of America’s tolerance of same-sex marriage.

While counter-protesters are a regular occurrence at these events, there was something more unique about the individuals railing against Westboro’s message on Friday — many were dressed like zombies. While the anti-gay protesters slammed America and claimed that God is punishing the nation through soldiers’ deaths, the zombies held signs, made noise and attempted to overshadow the group.

“Amazon’s founder said today he’s going to put $2.5 million in the kitty. Amazon.com’s founder [donated] to push for [same-sex] marriage in the state of Washington, and you think God kills soldiers because of that?,” asked Steve Drain of Westboro Baptist Church. “Absolutely, he does.”

The zombie protesters were joined by others who wished to support the military and who stood firmly against Westboro’s words and actions. The Huffington Post has more about the protest:

After members of the controversial Kansas-based church announced plans to picket Joint Base Lewis-McChord, a military base south of Seattle, 27-year-old Melissa Neace decided to organize a counter-protest, launching a Facebook group titled “Zombie’ing Westboro Baptist Church AWAY from Fort Lewis!”

“We wanted to turn something negative around, into something people could laugh at and poke fun at,” Neace told the News Tribune. “It was the easiest way to divert attention from something so hateful.”

About 300 counter-protesters showed up in varying degrees of zombie garb, far outnumbering the picketers from Westboro.

“I think that their message is very hateful, and Jesus was not a hateful person,” counter-protester Ashley Winslow told KIRO-TV. He loved everybody.”

I will say this though and this is the ONLY threat I have ever given. If you EVER come to Daytona Beach and I hear about it I will be there. You can let me know ahead of time by calling 386-682-6108 if you dare. STAND ON THE AMERICAN FLAG IN MY PRESENCE. Unless it is an underage person, which would be your cowardly ways, but an adult, standing on the flag will get their jaw broken. If you dislike this country that much then GET OUT.       I went to school with a young man, fro 12 to 17. Everyone knew he was gay. Nobody hated him for it. We all razzed each other about being gay but we NEVER spoke of him. NOBODY messed with him. He was who GOD made him. I cannot speak for all gay people but GOD made him the way he was and is.

I TRULY believe in GOD, I truly BELIEVE Jesus died to save me from my sins, but a person that is honest with themselves, and HONESTLY looks at the world as it was and as it is today understands that MAN while truly inspire by GOD was the one that wrote the bible and as such is FALLIBLE AND EVIL in a controlling way.       I will tell ALL of you this. All of you that think this way are just as disgusting as the Baptist church that wouldnt allow a black couple to be married in their church. I am a white man and I in Jesus name, I find ALL of you Disgusting.

      White or black doesnt matter. Chinese, Oriental, or Mexican doesnt matter. GOD MATTERS, JESUS MATTERS. Let us say you are from Pluto, you have 12 arms, 6 legs, your orange with purple polkadots. I DONT CARE. Are you an adult? Are you WILLING to WORK for a living? Do you believe that others should believe the same. Are you willing to accept a paycheck from the government the first time you get the chance?

      I have carpal tunnel syndrome in BOTH wrists after 4 years in college and 7+ years in the field as an electrician. I TRULY LOVED my job but was told by doctors I had to stop or I would never regain strength in my wrists. So I became a home improvement contractor. Then I blew my back out for the SECOND time. L-7 and L-8. I was hit by 1-1/2 TON truck from behind in 1986. I recovered but under stress the disc’s blew out again in 2006-7. So I tried tile work. I got bursitis. So now I am wittled down to the ONLY thing I can do. Buy an sell. However there is a problem. While I have been doing this for YEARS I am no longer allowed to buy and sell because of a new law. Oh and Obamacare wants 35%+ of the profit that feeds me for the job I am no longer allowe to do. You have it tough? My living is OUTLAWED but i still have to pay taxes

    The WBC has a congregation of about 40 total members, and receives an excess of media coverage as though they represent Christianity. They clearly do not, much in the same way secular leftists do not represent the poor and the disabled. Westboro BC uses Christianity as a cover, just as the atheist, materialist left uses the poor and disabled. Both are models of institutionalized hatred of humanity,

    But no institution hates humanity more than the secular left. Groups like Westboro shout and march, and as disgusting as they are, shout and march is all they do and all they ever will do.

    The secular left has a legacy of murder and loathing of humanity that is beyond compare in human history. See:

      You read it, Piehole. Deuteronomy had nothing at all to do with God hating “non-virgins” – those passages were about laws dealing with adultery, rape, promiscuity, and a husbands abuse. Was it rough treatment? Yes. It was rough treatment for both men and women and it was a rough world in general in those days.
      When you’re done with that, please parse the difference between Old and New Testaments.

      Either the bible is the word of god, or it isn’t. The world was a very different place. People were less educated, and morally disgusting. For that reason, we shouldn’t take dogma created by these people as anything more than law blended with sky worship for the purpose of social control. If the bible is the authoritative word of god almighty, there is no reason for a sensible, moral person to worship that god. Period. If you think it makes sense that an all powerful being would tell people to kill nonvirgins with stones, only to send his son (which is actually him) in human form to earth to kill himself so that we can all ignore those doctrines that he originally gave, and continue sinning because we can repent as long as we recognize his son (him) as lord and savior, that is a YOU PROBLEM.

      HARP First, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” is the doing of the commander-in-chief BHO and not DOD. Marriages on military installations are driven by local laws. I personally don’t agree with this but somehow a small percentage of our society has more political power than majority. The morals of our nation have slipped so far…….

    The problem would go away if the media would stop feeding these idiots. I rode with the Patriot Guard in Beaumont Texas at a soldiers funeral a few years ago. The Westboro group had announced they would be there. When we got to the church we found out the Beaumont police had made the group set up about a half mile away. THey could not be seen or heard from the church. As far as we or anyone else was concerned they weren’t there. However the news went out to interview them resulting in them overshadowing the soldier’s funeral. Had the news people not come no one would have cared because no one saw them in town. except the police.

    I want to see the Westboro cult protest at a funeral for a cripp,blood or ms13 gang member,the cult could exercise their first amendment right and the gang members could demonstrate how they feel about the situation. Hell I’d pay to see that.

      The zombies are too much like the OWS crowd which I think will infiltrate and manipulate the dewy -eyed idealists of the young and then use them to be soldier tools of their wacky, hate filled anti-capitalism . ( I think there are many of these “innocents” already conned by the international Lefties into the OWS Movement which has a nasty, angry, anarchist core to it .)

      The zombie movement has nothing to do withpolitics of any kind, and everything to do with zombie movie affictionados who enjoy getting together in costume and walking around to the bemusment of everybody else, all while celebrating the zombie movie genre. We’re no different than “trekkies” or any other group of fans. Two words: First Amendment.

      The thing about Zombies, and those who dress up like that, . . . .though is it a type of “shock expression” people STILL like that far more than those in the WBC. I’d sit down and eat with Zombie role players, . . . maybe even don a costume as well. What I WOULDN’T do is sit down and eat with WBC folk or hold up one of their signs.

      I respect your opinion on ignoring the Westboro Baptist Church group, in theory. The media SHOULD ignore them. But I‘ve also been a part of the Patriot Guard Riders when we’ve staged a mission to block these irrational and horrible people from the view of grieving families at the funerals of our fallen soldiers. So in that respect, ignoring them is not an option for many of us – I can’t imagine being a parent dealing with the grief of my son or daughter dying in a war, only to have anyone picketing at the funeral, telling me “thank God your son is dead,” etc. The WBC is one of the sickest groups of people I’ve ever heard of, short of people like the Manson family who actually inflict physical harm on innocents.

    God doesn’t kill soldiers. Jihadis kill soldiers. They‘re doing what they’ve been doing for 1,400 years: attacking, oppressing and murdering everyone who isn’t like them.

    Westboro reminds me of how that mass murdering, pedophile “prophet” called Mohammed started out. He, too, started as a “spiritual” leader, but was utterly unsuccessful. He managed to recruit a couple of dozen people. Only when he turned to violence, pillaging, plundering and murdering his ranks swelled. Who knows, these nutters will eventually go down that road too. The chance is there.
