It’s actually common for any LEO involved in an Officer Involved Shooting, whether on or off duty, to be placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. If you shot a home invader the police would investigate but you would not be able to control the investigation. If a LEO shoots a home invader he has the oppertunity to influence the investigation. That is why they do this. He still gets paid and it doesn’t count against his vacation time.

@TURKEY13, the first amendment does not protect freedom of speech once you are in custody. You DO have the right to remain silent, which she was informed of when she was arrested, but she DOES NOT have the right to tell the judge “**** YOU.”
