I wonder why I don’t hear of many atheist against other faiths, some of who are allowed to have their prayer in some public schools, Are they against the Koran as well? Or is it a christian intolerance. And if these folks do not believe their is a God, then why fight so hard against Him. I would be like me waging an agenda against the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy….why would i , if I don’t believe them to be real.
The easter bunny or tooth fairy don't actively attempt to tell you how to live, then tell you that "you're an evil person if you don't believe in them", . . . and say "the fool says in his heart, there is no tooth fairy and easter bunny". Christianity is about putting people down, . . . then offering them "the cure" of [even though you're still an unrighteous sinner] "being okay to the one who would otherwise send them to an eternal torture chamber for not being perfect".
@DeavonReye Are you kidding me? Christianity appeals to the lost in heart and injured soul, offers them consolation, and redemption as a final closing stone. Just because you feel you're fine and dandy, and your coming death does not concern you, doesn't negate the fact that millions have accepted faith in Christ and changed their lives for the better. You ignorant self righteous atheists, or 'agnostics', are the ones who put people down after knowing fully well these same people do have hope in something bigger themselves, and a new found desire to put others before themselves, by which realizations many come to find the pure essence of love. Just because your 'journey' or 'path' didn't end so well, or go as previously thought or planned, you arrogantly believe it is now your duty to ruin their joy or faith because of your failures, misfortunes or shortcomings in the same fight or struggle they might be in. You don't offer them encouragement or an alternative to reform their lives or redeem themselves but ridicule and mockery. Furthermore, you arrogantly believe that you yourselves have used reason and logic alone and wherefore your beliefs must be true and others publicly scorned, dismissing the possibility that others that have faith in God might have also used reason, logic and compared information to make an educated decision, but no, you believe you are inherently more righteous wherefore they must be wrong.
I am aware that christianity appeals to people who are hurting. It doesn't make it [therefore] true. Regardless, it is the people who are the ones who help such people out, ultimately.
Not sure where you get that I am "ignorant" of this topic. I express my informed opinion. And if someone's joy is ruined by what I post, their "faith" wasn't very strong to begin with, was it? Furthermore, where you see "arrogance", . . . it is merely resolve. Why would I not be honest in what I post? It may come off as "arrogance", but I have said before that I do know "know all".
Anyway, . . . yes, I use reason and logic. What else is there? What I state here are not "beliefs", but are based upon years of study and testing done in various professional fields. . . .and none of them have discovered any credible/compelling evidence for a supernatural agent. When someone can point to relevant evidence that their "faith" is right [and all other "faiths" wrong], then I will better understand their use of "reason and logic" for their position. If their position is merely a "this is what I believe . . . because I believe it" [for example], then they are free to hold those beliefs and even cherish them. But they won't have been due to reason and logic. If you can point me to examples of reasonable "faith" examples, feel free. I'd like to see them.
I was making some broad and general statements not specifically aimed at you, but may have in some way been towards you in that you align with most of their beliefs.
You said, "Anyway, . . . yes, I use reason and logic. What else is there? What I state here are not “beliefs”, but are based upon years of study and testing done in various professional fields." As if I, or others of similar faith, have not also done likewise and made our own conclusions based on the same dedication to research. Which was my point. You guys feel like you've achieved such a level of enlightenment that is yet unknown to us "believers". At the arrogance I speak against.
You further said, "and none of them have discovered any credible/compelling evidence for a supernatural agent. When someone can point to relevant evidence that their “faith” is right [and all other "faiths" wrong], then I will better understand their use of “reason and logic” for their position." As If I, or others of similar faith, must appeal and make our case to you, as if somehow now you guys are the arbitrators of truth and logic. BTW, your use of "reason and logic" is ba5tardized as it is based on the 'most current scientific data', which is not exactly absolute.
And yet, you continue, "But they won’t have been due to reason and logic. If you can point me to examples of reasonable “faith” examples, feel free. I’d like to see them". Who made you lord and judge over me or put me on tria
And, what is “reason” and where does it come from?
In the words of Jefferson’s Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom, 1779, ME 2:300, Papers 2:545, “Well aware that the opinions and belief of men depend not on their own will, but follow involuntarily the evidence proposed to their minds… Almighty God hath created the mind free, and manifested his supreme will that free it shall remain by making it altogether insusceptible of restraint… all attempts to influence it by temporal punishments… tend only to beget habits of hypocrisy and meanness, and are a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, who being lord both of body and mind, yet chose not to propagate it by coercions on either, as was in his Almighty power to do, but to extend it by its influence on reason alone… truth is great and will prevail if left to herself… she is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict unless by human interposition disarmed of her natural weapons, free argument and debate: errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them.”
Blackstone, one of the leading legal commentators during the Revolution, said, “For as God, when he created matter, and endued it with a principle of mobility, established certain rules for the perpetual direction of that motion; so, when he created man, and life, he laid down certain immutable laws of human nature, whereby that freewill is in some degree regulated and restrained, and gave him also the faculty of reason to discover the purport of those laws.”
The same Creator who governs the universe, and established the Laws of Nature, also endowed man with the power of reason.
The Bible says, “When the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.”
My belief in God does not come from the revelation or profession of other men, but from reason alone. It is a self-evident truth to me. (BTW, I do not consider "faith" as being the same as “belief”.) No man is naturally born greater or superior to me. We are all by nature equally free and independent. We were all made in the same Image, and are all accountable to the same Creator. I detest the ludicrous presumptions of liberals or atheists who believe themselves to be morally superior or better enlightened because they alone somehow posses or have achieved the gift of "reason". They’re idiots. They pompously proclaim to be wiser because they, apparently, use their heart and mind alone, so they say, without “outside influence”. What foolishness. No man lives in a bubble. They erroneously elevate the fallen state of man, and presume that man may become perfect or without fault or "good", through his own virtuous acts. They’re a disgrace, and spout this nonsense out of ignorance. I have witnessed that out of man’s heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, thefts, false witnesses, and perversions. Man’s heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. I will never trust in man, or in his words or opinions. I will trust in nature and that which has been endowed to me by the Creator of the universe I live in. To see where my reasoning leads to read this:

don’t you get it…EVERYONE is being bought.
Wishing this president would run out of ink signing all these executive orders.

I say let us put these politians up for review. WE, THE PEOPLE, should be able to see what they are doing. We should be able to see who is tryin, who is lyin, and who has got to go. If we did what they did we wouldn’t be employed too long. I say give them only 4 year terms. then they skip 4 years. No more life long career senators or congressmen. Thats part of whats wrong now.
Really? I wouldn't blame the old-timers. Its seems to be the new batch from 2010 that are creating a stink.. they are also the sole reason our credit rating was dropped.
I think we need to go back to the days where the state paid the representatives and paid for their pensions.
At least they kept the promises they made to get elected, not unlike the President who claimed he would cut the Bush era deficit by 50% not increase it by 400%, he even called Bush "UnPatriotic" for the deficit that he created over 8 yrs not in 4. Obama promised to get Immigration fixed he has yet to do that through Congress because Executive Orders only last as long as the President that creates them is in Office it is not considered the same as Laws passed in Congress, so the next President can just wipe out the so called "Dream Order" by not renewing it during his term. That is something that Latino's did not see he lied to them even this election cycle.

So sad for this young woman and her family. I am glad this story is in the public eye. Hopefully the news will stay on it to do some good for a change. Maybe this will save other women from this horrible madness of hell this woman endured.
