Just a few notes:
The majority of the negative comments above are just from the “in mommas basement” types with no credibility and as such are ignored by the majority of readers.
This Giant Blue is awesome, a fish of a lifetime and a magnificent catch well appreciated by those who have spent fortunes and lifetimes dragging lines across oceans never getting anything even close to such a fish.
The vast majority of Billfish caught by sportsmen with rod and reel are tagged and released in hopes of better understanding them to insure healthy populations are maintained.
I understand that some people would see the loss of a fish like this as tragic but they are misinformed of the value that this catch brings to the people of Cabo who are good honest fishermen who rely on and love the ocean far more than the losers that post negativity from mommas basement could ever understand.
This old fish will not be eaten for several reasons. It is old and tough- and marlin are not the most palatable to begin with. More importantly, with photographs of this fish now going around the world Sportsmen will flock to Cabo seeking similar fish while following their dreams resulting in prosperity to many in the local economy which is badly needed due to the fear propagated by the narcos. Would you prefer these people just trying to make an honest living follow another less honorable path? I think not.
So to the negative basement boys- take your idiocy and shove it where the sun don’t shine.

Buying more ammo and sheet metal for ballistic and drywall reinforcement. I live in Los Angeles and have only seen two Obama/Biden bumper stickers since June.
Last election in “08 the 405 fwy was a streaming field of Obama bumpers you could easily count 20 or 30 in a morning just running to work in the AM.

All of these so called experts are attempting to influence and shape public policy using what can only be described as a guess. Lets look at the actual timeline of earth’s history in regards to global climatic change- I’ll use 3 billion years- Now, the croc o’ crapola that these so called scientists want us to believe is “based on temperature data historically recorded in ancient writings and combined with the more recently collected atmospheric and temperature information.” I’ll be generous here and say that we have 500 years of data to analyze. Using logical thought, (something completely lacking in the modern academic socialist) we compare the 3 billion years of constant climatic change (one example of is the 14,000 year ice age cycle) to the 500 years of “enlightened” data. Simply put, using 500 years of data to definitively explain 3 billion years of cyclic temperature change is like saying; Since it was really too warm for one second of a thousand year period it must be mankind’s fault. Therefore the American taxpayer needs to admit its guilt- because being the most successful nation it must be their fault- and give hundreds of millions of dollars to the poorer countries so they can modernize their societies. This will enable the third world to magically reverse centuries of despotism and internal conflict allowing them with their innate moral superiority to repair the damage and heal the earth.

Try doing some real research sonny boy before flapping your gums and making a fool of yourself. Regardless of what you seem to think you know <5mW PEAK is not a powerful
Laser. Yes, if you shine a 532nm diode pumped laser DIRECTLY in someones eye damage can occur. But that is not the subject here. The question is regarding the real danger to a pilot from one of these low power devices. They are driven by 3 volts (2xAAA batteries)
So get a text book out and actually open it- Wikipedia is only for the Obama sheeple so they can read how great their leader is over and over again.
