  • WINEDUDE,

When do we tell the priests they can’t use a pubic drinking fountain?
Do you really think about the implications of what you wrote?
The Bill Of Rights includes freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Are you really advocating those rights be done away with if the speech is about religion? Also, this is a private forum, owned in whole by a private company which chooses its own rules. If it were a public forum, or a public space then they would have to allow religious speech.
The Government isn’t supposed to police religious speech, they are only to “make no law regarding an establishment of religion”.

  • Why stop there? All USPS mail should be opened and scanned, and we should all be required to wear microphones with a feed to a government data center so they can keep a log of all our conversations.
If we won’t allow that, then why the !@#$% should we allow storing our online communication? They do it because it’s easy, and our representatives are fond of passing bills they don’t read. They are treating us like criminals and telling us what they are doing after the fact.
    Revoke the Patriot Act.

  • So, JustSayin

Do crosses, stars, and crescents not belong in Arlington National Cemetery? There are appropriate public places for religious symbols. Banishing them is like telling a priest he can’t use a public drinking fountain. You are asking for two classes of people, with restrictions being placed on one.

  • Is there such thing as public property in England? Does the “public property” in fact belong to the Queen, who is also the head of the church?
What does this man propose to do about the cross (St. Georges) in the flag? The flag of England is a cross, and it’s included in the Union Jack at it the center.
What he has is a disdain and hostility toward his own culture, history, and towards religion in general. Such people believe religion is the the cause of all conflict in the world as a result of being less than honest with themselves. Some religions are just easily hijacked and used.

  • Encino man,
The Supreme court injected itself in this debate. If the Govt. doesnt own us, and we are free to make these choices then the decision should rightly have been left to the people and the state. When Roe vs. Wade is overturned we will have more freedom, not less. It never should have beenentertained as a constitutional issue. I’m glad to know you wouldn’t want the Govt. overreaching.

  • ENCINO MAN,
The constitution is based on principles which never change. The wisdom of our founders is still far beyond the understanding of the progressives who have been assaulting this country for a century. Modern technology illustrates the importance of, and the need for free speech, free commerce, and private property. Look up swarm, boids, and agent based simulations and recognize how independent actions of multiple free agents give rise to complex and wonderful behaviors. We are still learning with our advanced technology what Adam Smith told us 400 years ago, that the invisible hand (of free cooperation) blesses all of us. Don’t so brazenly dismiss our founders. What’s so progressive about control and confiscation?

  • The ignorance he displays is symptomatic of the main stream media, the Govt., and a large segment of society. It is extreme hubris, and it is ignorance.
They feel insulated from history, and from financial and geopolitical reality. They believe no threats are real, unless they are domestic. They believe that the nation most in debt is the richest. They feel so secure in their own little world that they don’t believe in any threatening consequences. Consequently cozying up to Islamofascism isn’t a threat, nor is endless and reckless spending. Apparently there is no law or consequence they can’t bend to their will.
Moral blindness will do that to you. We are being taught by the universe. We don’t make natural law, we can only beat ourselves against it. Tom, go read The Gods of the Copybook Headings again.

  • Why are we willing to pay a third party for taxpayer funded research? Sure he went about it wrong, and what he did was blatantly illegal, but he was stealing what should be public property.

  • Indeed, they need our support.
Since when is religious freedom reserved only to organizations. Freedom of religion, association, and speech are individual rights. What they are saying is we can’t hold all three at the same time.
We need to support Hobby Lobby who are merely exercising their freedom of religion, association and speech simultaneously.
This issue exposes the tyranny of the state like no other. In addition I’m sure these fines cannot stand as they violate the equal protection clause. Federal taxes are meant to be uniform. Giving the federal government the ability to directly tax was a huge mistake.

  • I hope people are smart enough to see that they created this cliff so they could go over it. Didn’t you think the original agreement was bizarre? They came up with a process and said if we don’t agree then this (the cliff) happens. It was obvious they weren’t going to agree.
Both sides get to blame the other when the inevitable occurs, and their constituents get to believe that their guy tried. No one is labeled as raising taxes on the middle class, and no one takes the heat for cutting the defense budget.
They are stupid when it comes to running the country, but smart when it comes to keeping their jobs.
