    Full Disclosure: I am a “troll”, if that’s the proper term for a person who visits the site every few mornings, over breakfast, just to laugh at the comments. On this day, however, I am going to post a rare comment, in honor of SATX 19, who clearly needs both a brain and a heart.

    First SATX 19, some background information. “Humanities” refers to a collegiate-level area of study, and a “Humanities professor” is someone (with a doctorate) who teaches the Humanities area of study. Sort of like the teachers you had in your sub-par secondary educational system (only much smarter), unless you were “home-schooled” by good Christian parents who wanted to shield you from the horrors of attending school with colored people.

    Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Even if Apollo18 is a troll, what did he/she say that could possibly be offensive? Apollo18 simply observed that he/she knows of someone who was on that flight, which was bombed during George H.W. Bush’s administration. From that simple post, you have somehow determined that Apollo18 is an anti-American “troll” who hates soldiers and law enforcement officers. That takes a real leap of “logic”, SATX 19.

    I have to leave for work now. SATX 19, have a nice day at your mother’s, (1) pretending that you are not carrying an extra 25-50 pounds of fat and (2) further pretending that you would not wet your pants if you were ever asked to don a uniform and serve this country. I hope mom makes a yummy soup fo

    How are you going to feel when your child is placed in the classroom with the Muslim teacher who praises Mohammed each morning, or the Wiccan teacher who explains the virtues of worshiping the Earth Goddess to your child? Why can’t we just let schools focus on reading, writing, and arithmetic, and leave the religious training to the parents and clergy?

    @Katzkiner -

    Are you really saying America would be stronger if we had never extended equal rights to women and racial minorities?

    I prefer that they both keep their personal lives to themselves.

    You folks who are so worked up about gay people realize you are on the losing side of history, right? Your predecessors were convinced that (1) giving women the right to vote would destroy the republic, (2) racially integrating the armed forces would destroy the military, and (3) allowing black people equal civil rights would destroy the society. They were wrong on all counts. Now, you are convinced that giving gay people equal rights will somehow destroy your marriage. You’ll be proven wrong, just like your predecessors, because human progress cannot be stopped.

    Fair enough, if you felt the same way about the kid in South Carolina who insisted on devoting his public high school graduation speech to his private religious beliefs…

    Didn’t this semi-literate hack, Jay Severin, pen a barely intelligible column, about two weeks ago, in which he invoked his alleged expertise as a political strategist to assure us that Mitt Romney was going to win? Nice work, genius.

    Yawn. Wake me when the smart people return.
