  • @Sleazy and Cesium-

Great discussion guys. Wish more people were as reasonable as you two.

  • “Bruce,
How dare you come to this comment section and waste people’s time by spreading your lies and fallacies, and promoting doubt when, in the end, you have to admit that you are a complete and total ignoramus. And you don’t think you have an ego? It takes a level of arrogance and hubris that I can’t even fathom to perpetrate the masquerade you’ve put on. And then, on top of that, the audacity to challenge and mock those who DO KNOW.

I mean the logical failures, the obvious ignorance of Christian theology, the rant against the sky bully, and let us not forget the multiple examples of argumentum ad nauseum— it was all so utterly insane, Bruce. I’ve rarely seen a comedic send up of atheist irrationality so spot on as the one you have shown us.

Actually, you’re completely wrong about the negative affects of homosexuality upon Christians. It affected the Catholic Adoption Services of Massachussetts. They were forced to close down or give babies to homosexuals against their beliefs. It affected a baker in Iowa who didn’t want to bake a cake for a lesbian couple, so he and his business were threatened. It affected the Episcopal Wedding facility in New Jersey that didn’t want to host a gay receptions, so they were bullied and threatened. See here a pattern here, Brucie??

These examples don’t even begin to scratch the surface.

  • Very well said.

A desperately needed voice of reason among this breeding ground for ignorance and intolerance.

  • I must have missed the memo detailing our new slogan.

By the way, from what source did you get this riveting bit of information?

  • do best: Criticize without any alternative.

AIG and other creationist ministries want you to think evolution is a worldview. It’s not. The evidence speaks for itself, but in the creationist’s case, they speak for the evidence.

“and I recognize that following this false trail has still advanced science in many ways.”

Coincidence right? Really? Why would you go into a massive regurgitation of Answers in Genesis arguments and end with this sentiment? It has advanced science because it IS science. A scientific theory has testable hypotheses and can make predictions. Evolution makes predictions.

Evolutionary theory can make excellent predictions in gaps of time, but not so much in the future, given the nature of the beast. As for laboratory experiments: One cannot demonstrate millions of years of evolution, and no one expects any scientist to do this.

However, the DNA evidence for evolution is perhaps the nail in the creationist’s coffin. Using sequencing, we can trace the lineage and ancestry of organisms back generations: but I’m sure you’re familiar with this, seeing as how you “wager I know more about them, and their myriad associated problems, than you do.”

Buddy, I was a YEC for years. I read the same articles you’re reading. I read from the same association of creationists force feeding you individual bits of information to “refute evolution”. And not once, ever, EVER, did I see one of those “scientists” produce any kind of theory that can predict and unify. They just do what they

“Atheist? One who is certain there is no God is like someone declaring, like an ant, that no other planet carries intelligent life…like the ant? Many scientists aren’t that arrogant because they realize humans know next to nothing in relation to what need to know to fully understand our universe and the hidden dimensions still untapped by the human senses.

A declared atheist is the polar opposite extreme of the religious doctrinaire — they’re both cocksure about things outside their grasp.”

I’m a declared atheist. I don’t see the dilemma here. It is, simply, the lack of belief in god(s).

I lack a belief in deities. That doesn’t affect my ambition to learn more about “things outside our grasp.” If anything, it helps me understand more effectively; I’m not saying “GOD DID IT!!” when something unexplained arises.

  • When I’m exposed to ultraviolet light rays from the sun, I normally experience a warming sensation. I heard sunlight is actually GOOD for life on earth, or something like that…
Oh yeah, and I love garlic. It actually goes well with onions and the like in a variety of foods!

On the subject of the telephone poles: I have no idea what the heck that sentence even meant.

It’s kinda funny… Atheists are human beings just like you.

    Not vampires.

  • Hey, I’m an atheist, and I just wanted you to know that I exist.

Whew, glad I got that off my chest, proving that I actually have a place in the universe and all.

  • Everyone who Evangelical Conservatives dislike is the Anti-Christ. Why can’t you say “I don’t like him, personally” instead of slapping an apocalyptic, fearmongering label on someone?

    Oh wait.

That’s exactly why you say it. To invoke fear, apprehension, and a sense of “time is almost out” into every aspect of American society.
