  • My mistake, I thought it was God’s Bible. I now see that the importance is who owned the artifact and not the content of the book or the symbolism of the act.

    In reply to zdschultz.

@BehindBlueEyes – you diss the liberals making Microsoft in Seattle, but what about the communists making Apple products in China?

  • @Kickinback – priceless comment. I love it!

  • Unless we are cutting back on our excess in order to help our neighbors, then we are also saying we don’t care about the very poor. But the point of this statement isn’t that he disregards the welfare of the destitue, rather its not the focus, there are systems in place (thanks to our overreaching government) to provide for the very poor. Of course, we all ought to care enough about each other to want to help others instead of stepping all over them trying to get a little more for ourselves. Beck is right, the only answer is turning to God. Everyone, individually. That’s what I think. And you say “so what?” And we call it good. Carry on.

  • I don’t care about their billboard, and I belive in God. I’m happy to discuss anything with anyone. If this is what needs to happen so that people will stop complaining about saying Merry Christmas, then so be it. I’ll keep saying Merry Christmas and you keep telling me I have an imaginary friend. Seems a little different in the underlying message, but maybe that’s just me. Maybe we can go in on a billboard rental and split the cost, put both of our messages up together. I’m okay with atheists telling me what they believe. Doesn’t hurt my feelings at all.

  • This is a great depiction of the cycle of fear. Thank you for spelling it out. It isn’t very far to fall from where we have been in this country, with personal freedom and liberty, to where these predictions are pointing at. The solution has to come on an individual-by-individual basis. Every individual needs to break that cycle and embrace faith, hope, and charity. Whatever stage we are at, be it fear, anger, or hate, we can stop it and redirect. I think it has to happen on an individual level though.

  • That’s how I read it, too.

  • Newt is ridiculous. How is keeping an audience silent a limitation on free speech? Unreal! I can’t stand to watch the State of the Union address because all it is is a bunch of clapping, I just read the transcript the next day. The point of the debate is to hear what the candidate has to say, not to gauge public response. If he wants a sounding board he can go have town hall meetings. The man is not fit to be president if he can’t make it through a debate without wasting time with applause and getting instant feedback on whether or not the audience likes the way he is swaying with his opinions right at that moment.

Tithing settlement is a private interview between the individual or family and the Bishop. The purpose of the interview is for the member of the church to give a personal accounting for their tithes. Just as in the parable of the talents, there was an accounting for that which was entrusted to the servants. We are all God’s children and it is our privilage to serve him. Tithing settlement allows for the member to gauge and define their will to follow God’s commandments.
    I hope this helps.

Wha’ts so “scary” and “looney” about having a belief of life after death?
