taking your thoughts and making them captive to…. more thoughts?? (if thoughts can be captive why cant the thoughts that keep thoughts captive be made captive as well? the devil can quote scripture remember)
it sounds like you are saying that it is OK to think about killing your neighbor, or sleeping with his wife.. as long as you suppress those thoughts by thinking about Jesus after you have them.. it would certainly be better than nothing… but if you can silence those thoughts and keep them from ever returning by experiencing your connecting to god (religion isn’t all brain remember, its heart as well) then they are truly captive ..captive to Christ conciseness not just to more words in your head…

  • March 14, 2013 at 12:16pm

you should look up “gnostic”…. and yes there are and have been gnostic Christians, the words we let rattle around in our heads are like filters or lenses which color and influence your perception, emptying your mind is a practice that removes those filters and allows a “direct knowledge” …. guess what the you end up having direct knowledge of… god

the only trick demons have is to influence the words in your head, experiencing a state of no thought doesn’t put bad thoughts in your head or open you up to them.. it is an exercise in clearing them, and a way to do battle with them. a noisy mind is a demonic mind, only quiet and prayerful minds are safe…

BS nothing wrong with emptying your mind.. this study is bunk, for one it doesn’t identify the use of the word liberal.. do they mean “classical liberal” in the wanting liberty libertarian/conservative tradition, or being a statest idiot in the modern liberal way? did they take into account the fact that there is a large tradition of leftest nutters who call themselves spiritual but really have their heads up their ass? vs real spirituality? this is a religious right, theocratic hit piece on a harmless and often beneficial practice..

THERE IS NO CAUSATION BETWEEN MEDITATING AND BEING A LEFTEST.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized

don’t waste your vote on Paul .. as much as i like him and what he has done and is doing, he is not in the race!!. if you are in an uncontested state vote Gary Johnson if you do, your vote helps get him over the 5% barrier and gives a third party a voice in the next election… that means your VOTE COUNTS FOR SOMETHING..
for the few who live in contested or close states hold your nose and vote Romney even if it is for no other reason than Judaical appointments..

    good movie!!

  • November 4, 2012 at 4:16pm

the 5% solution… if you live in a state where your vote wont count (any uncontested state) regardless of whether you like Romney obummer then you should vote Gary Johnson. if he can get 5% or more of the vote they can get financing and debate time in the next election,… face it the two party system is broken! they support the same agenda with minor differences.
in red and blue states your vote doesn’t count and a vote for getting alternatives views heard and debated is the only vote that will count….

if you live in a close/contested state vote Romney to get better judges nominated. it is one of the few important differences between them..

F: On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people.
A: Odd, I thought you said it was a democracy.
    F: I did. It is.
A: So why don’t the people get rid of the lizards?
F: It honestly doesn’t occur to them. They’ve all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they’ve voted in more or less approximates to the government they want.
A: You mean they actually vote for the lizards?
    F: Oh yes, of course.
    A: But why?
F: Because if they didn’t vote for a lizard, the wrong lizard might get in.

i don’t entirely disagree with this article…. at the very least it is nice to see a vote for Romney appeal being made to libertarians that isn’t insulting or disparaging..
personal i would make the decision based on what state you are in, if you are in a red state or battle ground then hold your nose and vote Romney, if you are in a blue state where the obama win is set in stone, then send a message and vote Johnson… Ron Paul is out, a write in for him is OK but = a less powerful message than a Johnson vote imho,
also changing your voter registration from republican to libertarian or undeclared is another way to send a message to the GOP, after the rules change at the GOP convention every tea party/libertarian/independent should drop the republicans on principal and only switch back right before the next primary ….. they need to see how many of us there are.
