I agree. Well said.
And it is sad to say it kept making me think of Amerika today and we are heading.
A similar question to the title of the story that I have always had is – Why do we struggle to remember Slavery today?
Is it really to remind us NOT to repeat or just to keep people pi$$ed off and angry?

Here’s your chance to be famous.
Make/Sell him some classy pictures yourself, take his money and wait for Playboy to call…
And you certainly don’t look like a little “kid” to me.
I’ve heard of guys paying for porn but this guy must be in LOOOOOOVE to pay that kinda money.
Get the money first, you know how those dimocrats are.

To be “fair”.
If a man shoots a .44 into the air on July 4th, should he be ALLOWED to own guns?
I don’t think so.
And I support gun rights.
Firing a gun inside city limits is outlawed for good reason.
Too many stupid people would do it just because they CAN, and people would
no doubt die oin occasion.
But if this was a BB gun, the cops were dead wrong.
Lack of detail on the story is probably done on purpose – to incite irrational
people who speak out angrily without all the facts.

you are correct, my bad.
MY point is that it isn’t about the minimum wage at ALL.
Its about sharing profits with the people that make the profits happen.
And the Gvmt should NOT be involved with the change.
In this “Free market” the top dogs must make that move because they CARE about
their employees and WANT them to have better lives.
And a LOWER min wage is even worse that a higher one – as long as their is still no sharing of stock/bonuses/etc..
Their should be NO MINIMUM WAGE at all – but that would have to include the insane thought that the top dogs would do the right thing ON THEIR OWN.
And we all know the liklihood of that…

I’m no Bill Gates fan but what he says will happen HAS BEEN happening for years.
ATMs eliminate tellers.
Self checkout eliminates cashiers.
Robots have eliminated 1000s of human jobs.
The list goes on and on.
America is awesome at automation – which is all ABOUT letting machines and
computers do work faster than people.
And most importantly – all at substantial saving for the millionaires/billionaires
running those companies.
But I disagree with his solution – raising minimum wage.
The solution that NEEDS to happen is that all employees share in the profits and decisions of the company instead of letting those select few at the top make millions while cutting hours / wages of those who actually do the work.
You know full well you are being asked to do MORE work with less help these days
with fewer preks – i.e free coffee etc. – while those at the TOP are making more than ever.
As are stockholders
I’ll NEVER be a Democrat but it is getting harder and harder to be Republican seeing what the big companies (primarilly backed by Republicans) are doing to the entire working class.
All us in the middle are heading downhill fast.

This story is about COGIC.
Memphis USED to host their convention every year. No More.
And you won’t find ONE DNAM waiter that is upset about it.
Groups of 20-50.
VERY demanding that they be treated like kings and queens –
while they all show off and compare their 300 dollar HATS.
And then leave a TOTAL of $5 after a noisy group of 20 occupies the room for 3 hours.
I have MANY friends in the restaurant business and they are ELATED that the
convention moved to St Louis.
Outside of COGIC, I have heard nothing…
Perhaps Ward, June, Wally and the Beav just don’t get out enough to know what a good tip IS…
You hit the nail on the head so hard you broke the hammer.
March 3, 2014 at 4:45am
yet clicking on YOUR name shows you post almost daily as well…
ME? Maybe once a month since I noticed a long time ago how your comments about the same people over and over are correct.
This one just amazed me how it was supposed to be SO important and yet I wouldn’t give ANY of them an autograph if they paid me…
March 3, 2014 at 2:23am
I am soooooo happy to say I don’t understand this at all.
Apparantly there are things about these people that other people know.
Other than Ellen being gay and all being actors of some sort, I know nothing about them
or why this particular group is “better” than any other particular group of actors/actresses.
And trust me – I don’t WANT to know – so don’t bother responding…
And yet you care enough to comment? This is just a group of folks who are among the best at what they do having a bit of fun with each other. Not interested? Fine, no one is forcing you to watch. Yet many seem to feel compelled to act all superior and snobby looking down on these folks and anyone who deigns to enjoy their work. Apparently commenting anonymously on line day in and out, (seriously some of you need to get a life in the real world. You comment on every story at all hours of the day! Go outside, get some friends who you can recognize on the street!) somehow makes you a better human than people who accomplish some pretty amazing things. It is kind of sad, I feel sorry for some of you. The hate, the paranoia, the sense of persecution. There are an awful lot of lonely little people posting here.

It was Bush’s fault.
Just like when Nagin refused to let the National Guard enter the city to help…
It was the Democrat Governor who refused to allow FEMA in. Katrina was a Democrat caused disaster.
Bush warned all residents for a week prior to Katrina to leave. We all ions who didn't leave. Democrat voters who can't do a thing for themselves. They sat third sand waited for others to evacuate them at taxpayer expense.

The fact that the markets have fallen over the last few days – as great profits and lower unemployment numbers have been released are a sure sign of bad things to come.
It is PROOF that the markets are being propped up by the GVMT’s 86B per month cash printing press.
Because good numbers on Wall Street mean the Fed is LESS likely to keep printing all that money, since this supposed market recover is well underway.
The funny thing is that high profits are being posted by companies not due to incresed SALES, but because of decreased SPENDING, and cost cutting measures – mostly at the worker’s expense. The big profit numbers – which have been hurting the workers are NOW going to hurt the companies and markets when the Fed quits dumping cash.
It would all be hilariously ironic to watch stock prices and corporate bonuses take massive nosedives – if it weren’t for the fact that 401ks and the entire world market are going to be the end recipient of disaster due to companies raping workers for the last several years, and ALL because the USGovmt is dumping cash to keep interest low due to their massive DEBT problem.
IF you are a convicted felon then you can not legally own a firearm.
@Chazzim, Thats antip's point. There does need to be some, I say some, regulation. Even the 1st amend. has regulations on it. You cant yell fire in a crowded theater. The constitution itself is a form of regulation. Believe me, I agree with the second amen, and believe there should be no limits on what you can get and have, (full auto, cannons, fully functional armor ect.) but there does need to be regulation on who can have them. That being convicted felons and the mentally unstable.
Please end it with the limit on free speech because you can't yell fire in a theater analogy....truth is you can yell fire! At that point you commit a crime (public endangerment)...however, in no way is your INNATE right to free speech restricted..If it were we'd all have our lips duct taped when when enter the theater.
Just like the moment somebody shoots someone...there are no longer exercising an INNATE right, but committing a crime! The difference is many consider it "reasonable" to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms because of what you might do...
p.s. based on fact that 74% of murderers have prior convictions it doesn't look like we're doing such a good job of keeping guns out of the hands of criminals..oh wait! The criminals aren't getting guns from Bob the FFL dealer, or Joe Citizen looking to sell his Browning Citori....over 90% of the time they get them from fellow thugs, straw purchases, theft, and gun/drug dealers (all illegal acts)...and they're not even buy Bushmaster's they buy (90% of the time) cheap, small, POS revolvers and semi-auto pistols ... easy to conceal, cheap and easy to pitch if they think the cops are near.
Well, yeah. But that's not the argument most use in support of gun control. They advocate regulating firearm ownership by law-abiding citizens. Of course if you commit a heinous crime you relinquish rights, that's fundamental. For the argument you're suggesting gun rights advocates support to be philosophically honest we would also have to advocate that murderers and child molesters not face arrest or sentencing.
Really? I don't see anywhere in our constitution that allows the governement to regulate ANYTHING specifically spelled out as off limits to them and I don't give a rats a$$ what some closet commie in a black robe says about it either. Yes, I think felons and anyone should be able to have guns and I think that if we handled things like we did in days gone by where we immediately hung people who commit murder and/or allowed for justifiable homicide for me to kill anyone who molests my child then you wouldn't see most of the crap you see these days. Please note the difference in crime rates between Chicago and Houston. What makes the difference? In Houston there are hundreds of thousands of CHL holders and many more who carry regardless. Crooks are much less inclined to mug you if they might get shot for their trouble. Also note that ALL of the mass shootings take place in GUN FREE ZONES. Schools and military bases mostly. Why do you suppose that is? Just like in the 1800's we would have a MUCH more polite society if EVERYONE was walking around with loaded AR-15's. You dolt!
I would have to agree with sapper and mgh. maybe not for immediate hangings, but a case could be made for justifiable homicides. Last time i read the 2nd, it did not end with "unless you..."or "as long as it's not this kind of weapon" or "you do ___ first".
I half agree with you violent felons should not be armed but who determines
mentally unstable that's a slippery slope right there
I'd be willing to drop ALL limits on gun control if we would start executing more criminals.
As long as the crime is on tape, has DNA evidence, or multiple credible witnessess, etc., I'd execute within 48 hours of a trial.
And that goes for ANY crime committed with a weapon, even if no one is injured in the process.
Guns, knives, bats, frying pans, cars, etc can all be considered weapons when USED as such.
Crimes of "passion" could be exempt, but anyone leaving their house with INTENT to rob, rape, injure, kill an undeserving/unwitting person should be executed if a crime ends up happening.
Yes, with that, NO limits on gun control whatsoever...
But that is not gonna happen due to the ACLU and such that give more rights to criminals than the victims.
Yes, there should be no gun laws.
And no problems with shooting those people when they get out of line either.
those are examples of being CONVICTED of violating some one's rights. not constitutional regulations.!!
I, E, due process.
what if he theater WAS on fire .should you keep you yap shut then??????????
In the 1800's, when one got out of prison they gave him back his guns.
That's how it should be now.

I would suggest citizens STEAL them if that type of thing weren’t possibly illegal, so I WON’T.
They would then have to be replaced with new ones, and are also “collectable” since the passage of the new law.
Now remember, I am NOT suggesting people STEAL THEM just because they might be valuable…
I also would not suggest anyone STEAL them...but they could just disappear and since the law is changed...just don't replace them...duh...no cost
Agree. First of all what would they re place them with? All the city has to do is take them down. Two bolts and they are gone.
October 12, 2013 at 3:28pm
from an Email I received a while ago –
You always hear about Social Security running out of money.
Why do we never hear about Welfare running out of money?
October 2, 2013 at 3:38am
I would have done a doughnut in the crowd of bikes in my rude a$$ pickup.
Take out as many as possible.
I always though it was handled pretty well in Smokey and the Bandit
with dude’s 18 wheeler as well.
Just no bikers on the bikes…
And to the story itself, it sounds like something happed PRIOR to the “slowdown” and resulting
What happened is the real question.
That camera was only turned on after there was a reason.
Something happened prior.
If that camera caught EVERYTHING, then yes, run them ALL over.

I’m proud of her for speaking out about the all too common way of life around here…
September 27, 2013 at 4:30pm
I love this town.
We always get in the news for the most amazing things.
I don’t know either of these folks but the story is all too common here.
Bad or no parenting, grown folks acting like children.
No acceptance of responsibility, bad work ethics.
Financing $300 tennis shoes when you can’t pay rent…
I don’t know if “merely” the lack of a father in one’s life can be held to blame for all of the above
– and this about people I know personally, not this young lady – but the lack of 2 parents constantly being there for the kids can’t be good.
We have churches on every corner and yet shootings and drivebys almost daily.
People go to church just to SAY they go to church but learn nothing.
Boys still walk around with one hand holding up their pants trying to look “tough” because that is all they have.
When you have no education, no car, no home or homelife to be proud of, you end up ganging together with others like you and claiming your “street” to be your property, resulting in turf wars and hoodrats.
Females without fathers cling to any man they know due to a need for a strong male voice in their life,
Boys act out in anger.
This goes for ALL RACES in this country – so don’t misunderstand me there…
This young lady’s letter proves she DID get an education, as she sounds very schooled.
And the uneducated in this town would say she is trying to be “white”, and scold he for it.
