As someone who has spent the last 13 years in service, I recognize your right to your opinion, but now I’m going to exercise my own rights and give you my opinion. Yes we expect to be taken from our families from time to time and yes I’ve missed a lot of events surrounding my two kid’s lives, but I gotta tell you, you’re missing the point of the story. His fellow officers stepped in to represent him as part of the family for a day that I’m sure his little girl views as important. That’s what those of us who “make our living off the tax dime” do for each other. Frankly, I feel bad for you since it appears that you don’t have anyone close enough to you who is willing to take their own time and effort to be there for one of their brothers when he can’t be. Some of the closest bonds I’ve ever experienced have been with the family I CHOSE (my brothers and sisters in arms), and I feel just a pinch of pity that many will never experience something so profound and fulfilling. In short, I acknowledge your opinion and respect your right to it, but frankly I think you’re a jacka$$.

It’s situations like this that have made me an admirer of Dwayne Johnson for a long time. Personally, I think the way he treats others, takes care of his family (especially his mother), and is genuinely interactive and outgoing with his fans are all aspects that add up to him being a great role model for others (young and old alike). Keep up the good work Mr. Johnson and congrats to the new couple, especially Mundy. Yowza!

I don’t think the officers did anything wrong leading up to the shooting, or the act itself, but I do have a problem with their actions following the shooting. I may be mistaken, but I’m fairly certain that they are required to perform life saving measures when an injury occurs. Shouldn’t they have attempted to stop the bleeding or at least attempt to save the man’s life? Again, I would have done the same in their situation, but I’m pretty sure they should have at least attempted some life saving measures after the fact.
The guy didn’t charge the cops or nothing. Surely they could have rushed the guy with one cop going for the hand with the screwdriver. Once that hand was secured the threat to the cops was eliminated. Don’t they teach cops unarmed combat any more? It’s just shoot, shoot, shoot!!

The correct answer would be “because the Constitution says I can”. Case closed.

Well since this study was done in Israel, you’ll have to do some travelling to get your money.

If I’m not mistaken, it was Mark Twain who said “The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog”. Sad but true state of reality nowadays.

Bear, like I said…kindred spirits. Well said and I’m in total agreement with you on all points. Stay sharp and safe my friend.

I bet the Ranger is there to protect any naysayers or trolls from the likes of Taya. I’d put money on it that she can probably protect herself quite well, thanks to teachings from Chris. I know my wife can…

What constant sinning are you referring to Boy? Mourning? Or perhaps you’re referring to Chris’ attempts to work with veterans who needed help dealing with the demons they bring home with them from being exposed to some of the most horrific things imaginable. Speaking from personal experience (3 tours and counting), some require a little more help than others when they come home. Fortunately for me, I have a rock solid wife at home (whom Taya reminds me of) who keeps me from falling too deep into the darkness and letting it overcome me completely. So unless you have something constructive to contribute (like experience) you should shut your mouth, let this woman mourn in peace, and let the fine State of Texas deal with this murderer accordingly. Arbrne2001 OUT!

But they aren’t black and therefore aren’t as dangerous. Also they are bolt-aciton, so not “assault” models. Everyone knows that even though these rifles are effective at over a mile in the right hands, they are way less dangerous than those scary, black, assault models that use high-capacity “clips” and kill hundreds with a single pull of the trigger. Come on John…you’re better than this. (sarc off)

After visiting the site semi-regularly and seeing most of the posts by The-Monk, I can honestly and plainly say that he is not opposed to differing points of view, so long as they are fact based and intellectual in nature. When people resort to petty squabbling, name calling, and the like, he generally will do his best to discredit or simply ignore the ignorance. While most of my views are pretty conservative in nature, I do have a few points of view that are more liberal in nature. I am a God fearing man who raises his family in kind, but I don’t have a big issue with same-sex marriage, as I don’t really see how it affects my life in any way. My sister and aunt, for example, are both in same-sex relationships and are happy, well-adjusted, productive citizens, and conservatives to boot. So as long as you keep your arguments valid and on point, you shouldn’t have any issues with The-Monk or most of his friends. Good to see you on here again buddy. Keep up the quality contributions. :) Stay safe everyone.

That’s what separates us from God. He possess infinite forgiveness and love. We, on the other hand, are flawed creatures who have only a finite amount of both and should probably only expend our limited supply on those deserving of such gifts. This troglodyte deserves neither in my opinion and LWOP is far too good of treatment for him. Now we get to spend the next 40 or 50 years paying his way to 3 hots and a cot as well as all the other niceties that prison has to offer. .22 slugs are cheap, so just saying…
These are the first to go when the people set the country straight.

You’re a little twisted…I like that. Kindred spirits :)

Not to go too far off, but I’m going to play devil’s advocate here. Perhaps that is the child that was sent to the hospital, and for all we know, that kid could be Autistic or some other form of special needs. Kids react in weird ways when they are faced with unusual circumstances, and as a youngster a car accident fits the bill for unusual. At the end of the video, you can see mama holding and trying to comfort him, so I wouldn’t doubt if he was some form of special needs and needed the reasurrance after an event that no doubt upset him quite profoundly. Like I said…Devil’s advocate. You could very well be right and he was reacting this way as a way to uptick the insurance claim for personal injury in some way.

$3400 a year for my $130,000 house in NC. Freaking insane…

Valkaneer…you just described Florida’s “squatter’s rights” laws that allow exactly as you described. Good times.

Irish, That is NOT the offer they made him. They offered to let him pay a fee of $15,000 up front, then $16,000 annually. That’s only slightly more than the $1 that JBARRANCHAZ recommended (which I agree with you JB). This man is aged, unhealthy, and has been living in relative isolation for the past 30 years on land that he purchased in good faith, albeit from a crook, and probably won’t see the next decade. LET. HIM. BE. Once he’s gone, go in and collect your land and if you so desire, tear down his small structure. Like there isn’t enough land out there already. geesh…
