  Kenya was called Kenya in a book I have, part of a set called ‘Lands and Peoples,’ printed in 1957. However, I am curious about his father being referred to as African. All the references I can find from that time use the word *****.

  This exact scenario happened to us, and we did NOT have 30 days. We had seven. We had always paid the rent on time, or early. We lived there a year and a half, and our granddaughter came home from high school to find a note taped to the door. It was not a happy time. We discovered that renters don’t have very many options.

  Actually, Jehovah’s Witnesses are the ones who fought for and legally established the right not to salute the flag. The first case was lost in 1940, but won on appeal in 1943. There was a great deal of persecution heaped upon us in 1940 after the court ruling, not only the expulsion of our children from school, but beatings, tarring and feathering, lynching and attempted lynching and castration. Since the court ruled in our favor in 1943 we have won many victories for freedom of speech and worship, not only here in the U.S., but across the globe.
