  My point with the faster than light particles was that many scientists thought that FTL travel was against the laws of physics until it was proven otherwise. And many theoretical physicists have spoken and given lectures on the possibility of other dimensions or universes where the laws of physics as we know them do not apply. Stephen Hawking is an example. Now he was in no way promoting God but the possibility of an entirely different law of physics that most people couldn’t understand.

  I understand where you are coming from and I have a counterpoint. Scientists just recently discovered the faster than light particles that were thought not to exist before, disproving one thing and proving another. My point here is that we are only able to understand that which we can comprehend. If science has proven anything it is that science is constantly wrong. The continuing pursuit of truth is what drives science, and honestly I am all for it. But when science lays something out there and says “this is fact” when they honestly do not know they get proven wrong all of the time. I love science, I think humanity is better because of it, but to assume that a species as young as humanity (in the grand scheme of things) has figured out the secrets of life and humanity is arrogant presumption. I honestly believe all of humanity throughout history believes they are smarter than they actually are. Those who were on the cutting edge of science 100 years ago would just be wrong today (in a lot of cases).

  First of all nobody has the right to try to tell anybody else what they should believe. Everybody should be free to believe, or not believe, whatever they want as long as it does not promote harm or violence. I do not try to force my Christian beliefs on anybody. I will openly share my beliefs and pray for those who don’t believe. However if you claim that the “reason for the season” is the winter solstice you are off by a few days. Christmas is a Christian based holiday just like Hanukkah is a Jewish based holiday. Go ahead and start a “Winter Solstice Day”, celebrate it, send out solstice cards, and put up solstice decorations. Nobody would stop you. Why do you feel the need to attack Christians? Why does so much hate seem to come from your point of view? I believe in God, you don’t…so what. And the scientific arguments make no sense. Scientists won’t discount the possibility of aliens because you can’t prove they don’t exist, but they want to discount God because you can’t prove he does. How does that make sense?

  Anyway, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Winter Solstice and Happy Anything Else I Might Have Left Out.

  I am a Christian conservative with traditional values and I have absolutely no problem with this add or with Ellen. She is a kind person who seems to be a genuinely good person who doesn’t make a spectacle out of her sexuality. Honestly I think that if more gay people behaved like Ellen they wouldn’t catch the flack they do. I do not agree with homosexuality, but I do respect everybody’s right to chose for themselves without persecution. I believe every person will have to answer to God for what they do with the time they are given.

  Just throw in a menorah and put it back where it belongs. The government then has no power because it “no longer promotes one religion over another.” Having nothing there at all is letting the anti-religion win. I have no problem if an atheist wants to put up a “happy winter solstice” decoration that is there right, but don’t take away our rights because of your own intolerance.

  @ Thomas: The reason they don’t create their own organization is because that would reveal how few of them are actually asking for it. When their low numbers, as compared to the actual scouts, show how few of them there are people would be less inclined to take them so seriously.
