Two items.

1. I spoke with a USBP agent last week who was off-duty and mildly ‘under the influence’ at the time. He informed me of the following; he was originally told that he was going to be furloughed 21 days over the next 12 months, but that it had been reduced to 14 days. He also told me that his base salary was $100k, but that it was going to be reduced to $60k.

Then he tried to hit on my married friend.

2. The border patrol needs this action to help them consolidate their activity; when they are conducting non-border checkpoints upwards of 100 miles from the border, then they aren’t doing it right. They need to use this opportunity to get those agents back on the border instead of harassing citizens who are traveling on roads that are far from the border and don’t even cross the border.

The sequester is likely a good thing for border patrol.

I propose the ultimate conclusion.

Let them engage in their irrational pursuit of further institutionalizing marriage for same-gender people, and even let them succeed.

Then when they’ve accomplished something that has absolutely no value to anyone, we should engage in a nationwide campaign to return the institution of marriage to it’s “pre-license” roots, where it was a religious sacrament, where it most closely followed the tenent of equality, and where the gov’t didn’t control our relationships.

Then everyone would be equal, the gov’t wouldn’t be getting money from us every time we buy a “permit” to get married, and the divorce-lawyer industry would have to find something more noble to do.

The most satisfying conclusion will be that we can all still build the relationships and families we want without the gov’t sticking their incompetent nose into it.

If you argue against this idea on the basis of taxes and inheritance, then you don’t truly understand the issue (specifically as it relates to equality), and you don’t know the difference between rights and ENTITLEMENTS.

The shotgun demo and the Mini14 demo were useful.

I’m not sure the magazine comparisons were helpful. What was essentially demonstrated was that our level of effectiveness with a 10-round mag X3 was not much different than with one 30 round magazine.

We now need to be prepared to defend why we want to keep our standard 30 round mags when we’ve just shown that having a few 10-round mags instead of a 30 round mag does seem to limit our ability to defend ourselves.

I have no intention of giving up my sizeable stash of both 30-round Magpul magazines or my 10-rounders, but I think I’ll stick to pure Constitutional arguments instead of the last part of this demo. It was well done, but it doesn’t really help us.
