    Winning comment of the day. I’d stay put too.

    @Xander

    Thank you for your insight. That is my biggest disappointment as well; now how many millions of young men won’t be able to have the experiences I did? I can say without a doubt that Scouting has had a huge impact on my life (for the better), and I still try to live by the principles Scout Law and Oath. Oddly enough, for all rank advancement in the Boy Scouts, it is a requirement that a Scout demonstrates to his Scoutmaster that he lives by the Oath and Law and applies to them to daily life. I wonder if this requirement will go away as well; I think it will. Seems too contradictory now.

    I earned my Eagle in 2009. I am proud of what I accomplished in Scouting and look back fondly on the memories I have of the places I saw and people I met, many of whom remain good friends of mine.

    That being said, this is abhorrent. Scouting will never again see my time, effort, money, or (if I am so blessed in the future) my children. To me, this is like watching a family member kick out the chair from under themselves, and I am powerless to stop it. It saddens me that Scouting would turn its back on Duty to God, one of the very core tenants of the program.

    Does this come off as dubious to anyone else, or is it just me?

    Take a good look at the belt worn in the photo. If that picture is indeed of the teen, then he is a Boy Scout, with a good chance he’s an Eagle. It reads “Cimarron, N.M.” Cimarron is the home of the Philmont Scout Ranch, a high-adventure base where scouts go on 10-day backpacking expeditions in the Sangre de Christo Mountains. There they teach you to be self-reliant, strong, brave, and all 12 points of the Scout Law. Most likely, he also earned at least one Shooting Sport Merit Badge; these are popular.

    Progressive. Scratch him off the list.

    Mr. Huntsman Sr, where did Junior go wrong?

    Anybody find it ironic that the malcontents reside in Castroville?

    No other book has made me as emotional as Lone Survivor did, and I’ve read scores of books. I did cry. The actual events, combined with the way Lutrell wrote about them, are VERY powerful.

    God bless the SEALs and all military personnel, active and retired.

    A drop in the bucket. Social Security and HHS are HALF of this year’s budget. Up and at em.

    Is Jeopardy all it does, or can Watson do something more… productive?

    We don’t necessarily need Orrin. However, his budget amendment is crucial to the financial wellbeing of our country. Support it.

    Nah Bill, Obama is a Christian.

    He’s also the Gipper.

    I was born well after Jimmeh, but my parents both said when Obama won the election that it would be Carter all over again. Now they say they would rather have Jimmeh back, believe it or not. He was merely an incompetent boob, whereas we have a very destructive incompetent boob right now. I can never quite figure out though if Obama is an evil mastermind who plots what he does, or just so much of an idiot that he stumbles through everything and that someone else calls the shots through the Blackberry.

    …assuming this was a public school in the commercial, I am very much afraid that the kids don’t know much of anything.
