I do my banking with a community bank as well as my mortgage. I have never had any interest in banking with multi-national conglomerates. I’ve recently started seeing Bershire Hathaway commercials for real estate. Why would I go with them when there are local realtors who do just fine. Its all advertised online anyway. Local is always better.

Walt Disney must be rolling over in his grave.
Disney and the Second Red Scare
Disney was a founding member of the anti-communist group Motion Picture Alliance for the Preservation of American Ideals. In 1947, during the Second Red Scare, Disney testified before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), where he branded Herbert Sorrell, David Hilberman and William Pomerance, former animators and labor union organizers as Communist agitators. All three men denied the allegations and Sorrell went on to testify before the HUAC in 1946 when insufficient evidence was found to link him to the Communist Party.
Disney also accused the Screen Cartoonists Guild of being a Communist front, and charged that the 1941 strike was part of an organized Communist effort to gain influence in Hollywood.

He is an embarrassment to every man, woman and child in this country. That includes his own family.

Dear Kate, you should be embarrassed for saying no to your parents. They wanted to be there to see their little girl sing for the president of the united states…not see the president of the united states. This shows an obvious immaturity and lack of understanding of parenthood. Do us all a favor and wait until you become an “actual” adult before becoming a parent. Signed, a parent

I tried it once. JUST once!

Dear Lord! What is wrong with kids today? It’s like their parents raised animals. My heart breaks for the abused young man. I wonder how long this went on for all these things to occur and why would he wait to report it? There must be more information to this story.

The message is: You are not a princess.
What I hear is: Love, be loved, be strong and you deserve what you earn in life. Life is neither kind, nor fair. It just is. Face it with love, compassion, reality and God’s grace. You may not go far but it will get you through.
When I first became a Catholic, the priest teaching the class I was taking told us something I consider one of the wisest things I ever heard. To paraphrase: Everyone today thinks you have to love your job. That it must fulfill a dream. It doesn’t. What you do from 9 to 5 puts a roof over your head and food on your table. It is what you do with the rest of your time that is important. The love you have for God and your family; the way you treat your fellow man; your honor and responsibility. These are important.

Dear Lord, please forgive me. I knew I would do this once Dems started complaining about the ACA…
Actually this is probably the first time some people will be learning this lesson. We live in a society where every housing project apartment has a Dish network satellite perched atop it.

“Quit talking to me about his unsavory character,” he said.
I’ve never understood people who say such things. It’s like saying “He’s raped three women, but he could never kill anyone.” “Sure she beats her kids, but they are well fed.” or “Don’t talk about the banks he robbed, it has nothing to do with the murder.” People please!
My land line is 55 cents a month on my bundle.
My long distance bills are never itemized. Gone are the days of $200 long distance phone bills.
Yes, it worked.
That is a utter, complete lie. The breakup of Bell led to vastly cheaper telephone service. Are you really against the free market? You prefer monopolies that fix prices and squash competition?
Read some history and learn what gave rise to the Sherman Act of 1890.
No, simple truths, the cheaper rates came about after cell service nearly killed landlines.
The honest assessment... Honest because the authors set out certain your point was right, and looked at the data fairly, was that cost and service quality were not improved.
It was a minor version of the rape of gm stockholders and their dividends going to the unions... Southwestern bell/at&t invested time and resources stringing the line... Not the fEd, not local government, not competitors. And the competing interests had free use of said lines.
Another example is cable tv... Despite competition, which is in many places laughable before dish/direct/satellite tv since only one provider covers many areas, costs were fixed and high. Only with competition from new technology was there a price reduction.
Don't agree? Your 55 cent line is an Internet line. How much s the monthly Internet cost? Is it fair you SE phone service but don't pay into the slush fund for the poor that has morphed into obaaphnes?
You always have the choice to switch service... You just have to pay penalties you agreed to if you violate your CONTRACT...
If O can do this, what contract is safe? I think I want to pay my home off without the interest I signed to pay. And I think the student loan should be forgiven. And the Constitution? It's just a guideline, not really inviolate rules... Wait, what? The bank is taking 60% of my money??
The book is 'the cuckoos egg' I believe I'm not just making it up.
Omabaphones? Do you know where government subsidized phone service for the poor originated? Ronald Reagan, not Obama.
The rest of you post makes more arguments for my point than I made myself. No one is saying we should break contracts, the break up of the Bell monopoly resulted in free market competition. Competition that literally wasn't allow to exist before the court dissolved the stranglehold Bell had on the telephone communications marketplace.
This is not about breaking contracts, it's about the freedom to choose your network and use your paid for phone when you are out of the contract, once you have completed your old contract. The library of congress, at the request and lobbying by the cell companies, outlawed your freedom and ability to unlock your own phone, it is against the law and carries a substantial penalty. This rule change is common sense and needed for our personal freedom. The govt does not need to be dictating how we use our phones or protecting the monopolies of the cell carriers.
@mule... You HAVE that freedom. And free or cheap smart phones when you switch.
@truth... Never claimed the program was an Obama invention. Try democratic congress during Reagan. New admin is however who is pushing the application as free smart phones over subsidized landlines.
Sprint and MCI ad access to lines placed and maintained by AT&T; there was no 'stranglehold' on access or customers.
Whereas gm was 'too big to fail' along with the banks, AT&T were singled out BY their competition and were dismantled by the government as being too big to survive. Both were unfair application of Federal power.

I would normally agree with this statement…however…I’ve known too many older women working in diners that are basically existing on their tips. Waitressing is a tough job I would never be able to do and getting paid below minimum wage plus tips. Don’t tax their tips…but if they are then I expect every prostitute, pimp, illegal and drug dealer who is arrested to be investigated by the IRS. Toss them in the clink until they pay the bill.

Apparently, this police force is a problem. Where is Eric Holder on this? Read this link, there are many more stories as well as a copy of the letter this man sent.
Only deport them like president Eisenhower did in the 50's. Put them on a train to the southern most edge of mexico. operation wetback, and yes it was really called that.
It has to do with having water on your back, I guess that is not allowed here even though a former president used that term. it had to do with the fact they swam across the rio grande river.
We have to close our boarders. Then deport them. But my fear is the IRS spying has gotten some dirt on McCain and that is why he is caving on the immigration bill and it is being slow walked to the finish line. By finish line I mean America will be finished if it passes as it is written. There are far more good people here illegally that need and respect the American way and will do the right thing if given half a chance. Give them that chance just do it in a responsible way. This bill went wrong when the removed the close the boards from FIRST, from the bill.
Anyone in Government have a brain? Not many. They are as dumb as a box of rocks. My apology to the box of rocks.

You have to read about the mess this has made in the UK. Read the Daily Mail some time. You buy a home for $500,000. The government buys the house next door and remts it to a welfare recipient. There was a story not to long ago in the UK where a successful, single woman was driven to suicide by the violent, drug dealer the government had moved in next door. He tormented her for years and the government would not help her. Her parents were beside themselves.
