    Ummm… actually we do have a pretty decent understanding of the universe. We have a good enough understanding of it to cure ourselves of ailments, send robots to other planets, and keep tiny, powerful computers in our pockets. There’s still a lot to be learned, and our current knowledge is constantly revised and altered to fit new discoveries. But that’s how science works, and it’s been doing a damn good job so far.

    Alright, I’ve narrowed it down to one of three options.
    1) You are a skilled troll.
    2) You are really dumb.
    or
    3) You live in some conspiracy-filled fantasy land fueled by your distrust and/or dislike of anyone whose opinions differ from your own.

    At any rate, I literally cannot both argue with you and keep my sanity. That’s simply asking too much of one man.

  • July 10, 2012 at 8:16pm

    @Git-R-Done

    Yes, you are exactly right. Everyone who has different religious views than you or whose politics are a little more liberal has embraced Marxism. We are all the exact same, and by that I mean each and every one of us hates freedom of speech and religion. I swear you just type down whatever Mr. Beck has spouted off earlier in the week.

    I want actual evidence of a broad, nation-wide atheist/liberal conspiracy to tear apart the Constitution and remove the freedoms of speech and religion. I doubt you’ll give me any, as your go-to method of arguing is simply making grand claims with no facts to back anything up.

  • July 10, 2012 at 8:06pm

    @Git-R-Done

    First and foremost, Reason didn’t insult you. You, however, accused Philly and Reason of being ok with child molestation simply because they’re atheist and more liberal than you. And to be honest, I don’t really trust your opinion of what constitutes “radical left wing” or “Marxist.” Is it because they are in favor of public schools? I’m gonna drop a bomb on you here, but the vast majority of Americans are fine with public schools. And just because someone is ok with public schools, it’s a pretty big leap to say they don’t care about any molestation that has happened there.

    And finally, you’re not giving anyone a dose of their own medicine. You make grand, unsubstantiated claims and resort to ad hominem attacks, but you make no actual points that any thinking person would take seriously. Now I’ll sit here and wait to be called a Marxist.

    I’m glad I’m not the only one! Once I understood that “only four possibilities are allowed if the scalar decays to pairs of gauge bosons, as exemplified by a dilaton/radion, a non-dilatonic electroweak singlet scalar, an electroweak doublet scalar, and electroweak triplet scalars” everything became so clear!

    @NJBarFly

    The thing is, I really don’t know if he is or isn’t trolling. Sometimes I think everyone here is trolling and then I remember, oh yeah, I’m on The Blaze.

  • July 10, 2012 at 12:34am

    @NJBarFly

    Haha, that makes sense. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen some intelligent debaters here (on both sides of the atheist/Christian argument), but as soon as I see someone say something along the lines of “Have fun in hell,” I call their debating skills into question. Liberal use of words like “Marxist” are another good indicator.

  • July 10, 2012 at 12:21am

    No one said anything about making it illegal to believe in god.

  • July 10, 2012 at 12:18am

    Seriously, you are just the worst. They’re little fricken girls. They probably have no control over this. And removing the word “God” from a pledge doesn’t make someone evil or wicked. I don’t know you at all, but I usually am not so sure about the character of people who are so quick to condemn others to hell. Is it all fire and brimstone with you?

  • July 10, 2012 at 12:10am

    Ah, Git-R-Done has resorted to his most feared insult: “Marxist!” How is Trollmonger to recover from such a vicious (and intelligent and well thought out) insult?

  • July 10, 2012 at 12:06am

    @Git-R-Done

    I don’t usually resort to flat out insults, but you just seem, well, stupid. Do you ever back up anything you say with some sort of evidence? You repeatedly make the claim that because guys like Reason and Philly are atheists, they’re Marxists (which makes no sense). And apparently because they’re atheists and Marxists, they must believe that children are just sexual play things, right? Seriously, do you ever actually think before you type anything?

  • July 9, 2012 at 11:53pm

    Why are people here at The Blaze so quick to pull out the “you’re going to hell” card? That’ll really attract people to your religion!

  • July 9, 2012 at 11:50pm

    @Prosecute

    Jesus, man. You are either a troll or a very dark, twisted human being. You almost seem to relish the thought of god murdering young girls.

  • June 9, 2012 at 6:15am

    @PaleRider
    Oh look, another Christian threatening an atheist with damnation in hell. That’s sure to converte people! Nothing makes us say, “Wow, this is a god I should follow!” quite like the threat of eternal, ruthless torture because you chose the wrong belief system.

    @Gunner
    Just because you choose to close your eyes and put your fingers in your ears does not mean there is no evidence for evolution. Paleontology, biogeography, genetics, and morphology and physiology provide so much evidence for evolution it’s astounding. And to not believe in evolution, you’d have to believe in some absolutely ridiculous premises:
    1) That the earth is only a few thousand years old, which has been proven false over and over again.
    2) That the climate and ecosystems never, ever change.
    3) That organisms never, ever change and are not prone to the effects of genetic mutations.
    4) That every single species that has ever existed, both currently alive and extinct, all lived together at the same time early in earth’s history.

  • June 5, 2012 at 5:14pm

    An individual organism does not evolve throughout its life. A single ape will not change into a man. That’s not how it works. So no one can show you a human that is evolving. Although humanity as a species has been growing taller as a whole and I believe our brain size has been increasing as well over the past few hundred years.

  • June 5, 2012 at 1:05am

    No, evolution does not violate the Second Law of Thermodynamics. That law states that entropy cannot decrease in a CLOSED system, meaning no additional energy input in the system. But the earth is bombarded with light and energy from the sun, so our planet is far from a closed system. That being said, it is possible for order to arise spontaneously. You clearly do not undersand evolution nor thermodynamics.

  • June 5, 2012 at 12:57am

    I would just like to point out that evolution by natural selection is almost universally accepted by chemists, biologists, geneticists, archeologists, and paleontologists. You know, people who devote their lives studying fields related to evolutionary study. Just look at this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Level_of_support_for_evolution#Scientific_support

    Modern biology and genetics absolutely revolves around evolutionary theory. It is central to what we know about life and the natural world. Very few people here have any deep understanding of evolution, or science in general I would wager. Just because something is complicated and is difficult to learn does not mean it’s wrong. Seriously, just do a Google search of “evidence for evolution.” You will be bombarded with information.

    No, you do not understand genetics or evolution. Most mutations are bad or have little to no effect, that is true. Evolution proceeds via the rare mutation that is beneficial. This particular bird just happens to be an example of a dramatically bad mutation. This disproves nothing.

    You guys are clearly missing the point. The point of government (at least as most Americans and Westerners understand it) is to protect the rights of people to live how they please as long as what they’re doing isn’t harming anyone. Of course murder, theft, kidnapping, etc. are illegal, because those have clear victims who are harmed by the action. Gay marriage, on the other hand, harms absolutely no one. I live in Iowa, where gay marriage is legal, and my life has not been affected at all by the legality of gay marriage. It’s legalization has given a group of people more rights and has not subtracted rights from anyone else! That is why people like SPQR1 and I are in favor of gay marriage.
