I wouldn't go so far as to say that I believe the guy is an innocent man. I suspect that he probably is a sex criminal, and that she is a genuine victim, but tough crap. This is a society based on the rule of law; we aren't supposed to punish people for things that you can't prove.
The president should have reacted like this!
Will she take it to work with her when she gets a real job. The 4 students who helped her carry the mattress through graduation are as sick as she is. Or this could be a new advertising technic..
My guess is that Emma Sulkowicz is a Rolling Stone subscriber.
Isn't the job of Visual Arts to be an attention whore? Well-played I say. She can take over the old McDonald's Advertising Director's job when he/she retires. (For those that don't know this is a jab to the attention seeking McDonald's for having a commercial during The Family Guy).
Soooo...she filed a complaint about a sexual assault that did not actually happens...ruined a man's repudiation with her false accusations...carries a matress around representing the rape that did not happen which makes the mattress represent her lies but she still proudly carries it even though it is basically meaningless based on facts. Sounds logical to the liberal mind.
I just hope those were clean sheets on it.
My bet is she will run for politics and outlaw men.
If she felt she was raped why didn't she go to the police? I'm pretty sure this is a "oh yea I'll call you" that didn't happen and now she is being vindictive.
Read her Facebook page postings. This is the typical Feminazi "look at me look at me" I'm a visual artist doing what?! Why what they taught her of course and shes putting it into practice. Who cares if its at her exes expense hes a "white privileged" guy he will get over it.
Shes a perfect example of the ugliness of liberalism. It matters not who is hurt as long as they get power and attention and they don't care who is destroyed in their wake.
Not only is she being a selfish brat but she is hurting the cause she is using to further her career. RAPE is a serious thing that should be reported to police immediately and prosecuted. She is saying by example "Women you are going to be raped so just stay the victim and use your victimhood" We know liberals love victimhood!
Well President Lee C. Bollinger...what did you expect when you took the job at Columbia?
Rape is a horrific crime.
The overuse of the term, though, diminishes the crime by diluting it, making any man the potential rapist, and ignoring the things women should not have to do to protect themselves, but in a real world should be mindful of for that very protection.
Her antics do nothing to bring attention to rape, by instead demonstrating the ability of self important self righteous tantrum throwers (of both sexes) to use the topic to bring themselves attention and to harm others by their accusations.
If she was raped, her rapist should stand trial. Her mattress display does nothing to improve 'support' of rape victims, to make the crime of rape more visible, or to prevent rape from happening to other young women.
The campus court is a student run organ. She is protesting the administration, why?
If columbia was a credible university, the perpetrator would have been detained and expelled without graduating.
There is a time and a place for things. Some of those students probably actually paid to go to school and graduate. This self centered selfish entitled liberal never thought of that. But then again, the president proved himself worthless.
Is that the same mattress she had consensual sex in on a regular basis with "her former sexual partner"?
If she was raped then why didn't she file criminal charges? Is it because filing a false police report is a crime? Hmm...
Unfortunately, there is a huge number of leftist companies or non profits that will gobble up her accusations and antics. No private, for profit company would come near her. Too bad she will not have to pay for her unfounded accusations and the ruining of a young man's life. Would be good to check back in 10 years and see what her personal life is like. Wouldn't it be fun to show her children pictures of her college graduation?
He’s no “innocent man”…She just got played and screwed by a White guy.
Apparently, he is not completely innocent but neither is she as he was "her sexual partner". What I don't understand is what college students think sexual activity is necessary or important instead of concentrating on the very expensive education their parents are paying for them. I concentrated on my studies and didn't even think about hopping into bed to prove whatever. Sleeping around still makes him an idiot and her a slut!
So nice to know that there are so many others like me who sacrificed to be there for their kids. I truly feel bad sometimes for working moms and seeing all the things they miss out on with their little ones. All I know is that Blaze moms rock. ;)

I work at home full time so I can be here for our kids. I have arranged my schedule so that half of my work is done before they even get up for the day. I complete the rest of my work day while they’re at school then I’m off to start dinner, clean the house, finish the laundry, etc. But I’m luckier than most in that I have a career that affords me the luxury of flexibility. I wouldn’t want to have any other type of job. I can focus more on my career when the kids are older, but I’ll never get back the early years of childhood or the chaos of the teen years.
The main reason I'm focused on writing/blogging right now is that it lets me be here for my kids. I tend to write a lot at night after everyone is goes to bed, and no one is saying I get enough sleep, but it's worth it.
Hi, Donna! Sleep? What's that?? LOL
You're right, though. The sacrifices we make now will see huge rewards later on. Hang in there and know you are certainly far from alone in this.
Hi Biohazard 23,
I just have to share this link to a 7-minute riff on kids (and no sleep among other things). It's a British comedian named Michael McIntyre who is my new favorite. I especially like his take on zippers.

There are no words to describe how this makes me feel. I can’t even tell you what I would like to see happen to the abusive monster because the mods would NEVER let it see the light of day. I’m thinking, though, that something medieval might be in order.

Thank you, travlman!

Too many kids of this generation wouldn’t have a clue what that all means, Sars. Nor would they care.
Morning Bio :-)
I know and it is so very sad. I was looking for a basketball fight video to put next to it as a comparison on what is worth fighting for but they all just disgusted me too much to continue watching them. Ugh!
And Common Core will see to it that future generations know even less about their sacrifice.
