‘Media Whoredom Has Hit the Church’: What Has Some So Angry Over TLC’s Reality Show About Pastors’ Wives?

Thank you GREENWOOD.
I would like to say though, I simply meant in the grand scheme of things I don’t think it really matters and something that should be debated and dwelled upon by Christians. Regardless, we would both agree they will not be with Christ and our goal as Christians is to spread God’s word that all might be saved.

@ALINMATT
True, he did refer to himself as a Christian. Only in the respect of following the moral teachings of
Jesus though. Which he highly respected—Jesus and Christianity.
Yeah, he did believe religion was a private matter between a man and his God.

I see. So you say those who died without Christ will simply be left dead. I think there are plenty of Biblical verses showing that there is very much a real hell that those who do not accept Christ will go to. However, I won’t debate it with you simply because I don’t think it matters. You say they will stay dead and I say they will suffer a 2nd death by spending eternity without God and in an actual place called hell.

Are you trying to say there is not a “physical” lake of fire? By that I mean where those who do not accept Christ will be sent (their spirit/soul) and that’s it’s simply symbolic?

@CHECKINGBOTHSIDES
Jefferson was not a Deist, and certainly wasn’t an orthodox Christian. He most likely was a Unitarian.
He had a monotheistic concept of God.
He did not believe Jesus was the Son of God.
He also rejected the Bible as the inspired word of God, and that it only contained basic moral teachings
Jefferson held freedom and human reason above all else.
All this comes from “Christianity and the Constitution: The Faith of Our Founding Fathers” by John Eidsmoe.

I was using it to refer to the lake of fire in what typically people do call hell…the place those who did not accept Christ go.

I’m assuming you’re talking about when we are judged; those who are saved through Christ will not experience the 2nd death, i.e. be sent to hell and instead will be welcomed into heaven?

I didn’t see this till after I replied.
Of course not. Scripture can’t contradict itself. The verses I listed are not listing SOME of the steps; they are listing ALL of the steps, more importantly the REQUIRED steps. Why would it tell you how to become saved, yet leave off baptism? Makes no sense. It doesn’t’ have to say you don’t have to be baptized, because it never says you must in the first place. Baptism is something we SHOULD do, not something we MUST do. A very big difference.

That was not my question, nor had anything to do with what we were talking about. However, I will answer it.
The Bible does not mention anything about this specifically. However, there could be a couple of answers: One, it could be possible that those who have never heard of Christ will be judged in a different way, and make it to heaven. Two, they could end up in hell. We know that no man can get to heaven without 1– Going through Jesus ONLY, and 2– It cannot be based on what one does (works).
Having said that, since we know you can only be saved by accepting Christ then we can probably assume (safely) that those who have never heard of God will go to hell; thus, why we were commanded to preach the gospel. Remember, however, what is said in Romans 1:20.

This life or the next? So in order to support one false teaching, you must use another one. Once someone dies that’s it…no chance to be saved and certainly no chance to be baptized. You keep quoting that same verse, but that 1. Doesn’t prove you must be baptized, and 2. The rest of the verses talking about salvation mention nothing of being baptized. If we HAD to do it then it would have been mentioned, especially in those verses I gave you about how to become saved. I don’t think you understand 1 Cor. 15:29. Paul is referring to what they (the pagans) were doing (baptizing for the dead) and using it as an example as to how they didn’t think the dead would rise yet preformed the baptisms anyway. This is NOT biblical whatsoever and has zero support from the Bible. You can’t honestly take one verse and say that somehow is proof God says to baptize for those who have already died.
No one is spinning it. This has already been explained to you by others.
