  So it’s true-the Democrats really do want to impose a Fascist regime on America. And most of them are just too dense to know what that means: government control of industry (media) without necessarily owning. BTW Mussolini called it Totalitarianism.   I first crossed here as a college student in 1973. They had a bear chained up outside the Boquillas bar who would chug beers for you. When I returned in 1975 in the Spring the bear had died but the open air restaurant, I noticed, had a tendency to recycle entrees from table to table that weren’t eaten. A ranger with binoculars waylaid my buddy and stole his tequila as soon as he waded back over. In 1988 we took landed in canoes and rode into town in the back of a pickup as the driver scattered the burro-bound tourists to howls of laughter from his “shotgun.” They had opened the little curio shop by that time and sold tacos for a quarter. Bringing back the kids in 2000 we bought some switchblades, stalactites and rattlesnake rattles. The biggest problem was the javelinas who rampaged through Rio Grande Village campground breaking into coolers and snarling. They’d eat a dog that was chained up. The skunks were pretty aggressive too. We got into an argument with the Dutch ambassador to Mexico sitting in the Hot Springs upstream on the river. He didn’t see how a Republican could ever get elected President again.

  So I was pretty excited to hear they’d opened the border again. I may canoe down to La Linda again and walk back up the side canyons.
