One player indicated that his parents had attended one game, but were too busy to go to others. Therein lies the problem with our public schools. A local (NY) story about under-performing schools suggested that more funds be spent on these schools, that the teachers be given remedial programs to follow, or outside organizations be given control of the administration. Taken point-by-point to give each theory equal time…Bull****. Bull****, Bull****.
You could take the faculty of Harvard or Yale and put them in front of these kids and get equally poor results. Stories abound of middle school students who are attending their sixth or seventh school, parents who not only don’t know the teachers name but don’t know the name of the school their children attend…”The bus picks ‘em up in the mornin an drops ‘em off at night.”, or of teachers sending out invitations to parents to discuss students progress and receiving not one response.
Look to the schools that do perform well and you’ll find the same budget and the same mix of teachers. Find a way to give incentives to parents and the problem will disappear.
the attendance at Tornado games has nothing to do with the problems our public schools have.
It's not a "public school".
it's a correctional facility for youth felony offenders.
it's a prison. these kids don't go home at night. the prison is their home.
I agree, except for finding a way to give "incentives" to parents. It is the JOB of the parents to participate, and they should WANT to participate for the good of their child. Incentives are what you give to children not to grown adults.
Also, when my kids were in school, the teachers were moaning and groaning about the lack of parental support. The teachers needed "help" doing THEIR job, so I'd volunteer, but when I showed up at the designated time the teachers didn't have diddly squat for me to do. I drove out there to make 6 (SIX!) copies on their copy machine!!!
Bottom line is EVERYONE needs to do their JOB!

I suppose I’ll have to give you that one…

…so the mother, with the best of intentions, goes overboard on discipline, and the first thing the government does is humiliate the mother (and the child), by splitting up the family and locking mom in jail rather than providing both with the counseling they need.
I didn’t always agree with my parents methods, but I knew that they loved me, and that bad behavior and failure in school disappointed and hurt them. Sure, I got a swat in the seat of my pants when appropriate, to get my attention but that’s all that is necessary whether you’re teaching a child or a racehorse. Pupils will always respond one way to loving correction, and a distinctly different way to humiliation and beating. Which way do you think the government applies corrective measures?

I would bomb them back into the 10th century….but they’re already there. The only weapons they would have are their knives…everything else has been brought in by otherwise civilized people.
So THAT'S where 0bama's trying to take us!
This is his latest attempt to make our AR’s useless–or at least much more expensive to use.
BATFE TO DECLARE .223 BALL AMMO IS ARMOR PIERCING & THEREFORE **BANNED**
Bombing them back into the 10th Century might cause $1000's of Dollars worth of improvements...

If Orville and Wilbur had to put up with all the government restrictions we have now, passengers would be sitting on the wings on straight backed chairs, wearing leather helmets with silk scarves…but we would probably have train-following radar…just not the right train.
Looks to me like he made a finger gun, he should be suspended for that.

I find it hard to understand how Obama can inject himself into another situation, for about the fifth time, before the results are in. He has been on the wrong side of every argument so far…

The DA’s office will probably allow him to plead down on most of the counts, and be sentenced concurrently on the others….so what’s the use , he’ll be out in 3 to 7 anyway. This isn’t the last the cops have seen of him.

If he was a Canadian vet, why would he be in a private hospital in the first place. Secondly, many Canadians cross the border and gladly pay to go to physicians and hospitals in the U.S.. The wait time for elective surgery in Canada can be counted in months.
