Tragic: 2 Children Killed, 5 Injured in Kentucky School Bus Crash
October 30, 2012 at 10:29pm
This style of bus has seatbelts. These children (ALL of them according to first responders and state police) had those seatbelts on. The nature of the collision just made those seatbelts irrelevant for those two children.
Tragic: 2 Children Killed, 5 Injured in Kentucky School Bus Crash
October 30, 2012 at 10:25pm
Just for clarification, this bus did have seat belts and it’s been confirmed that all of the children were buckled. Unfortunately the type of impact that this was, where the tree nearly embedded itself into the cab of the bus, wasn’t one of those accidents where a seat belt would be of any use to the two little children that were killed.
That being said,I don’t disagree that all school buses ought to have seat belts.
Creator of Batman Villain ‘Bane’ Calls Democrats’ Batman-Themed Attack on Romney ‘Ridiculous’
July 17, 2012 at 4:57pm
Lehane is so far off its almost laughable. He’s entirely wrong here and doesn’t know enough about the character to realize just how far off he is.
Just to touch on one point that the article itself didn’t:
‘ Clinton aide Christopher Lehane. “Whether it is spelled Bain and being put out by the Obama campaign or Bane and being out by Hollywood, the narratives are similar: a highly intelligent villain with offshore interests and a past both are seeking to cover up who had a powerful father and is set on pillaging society,” he added. ‘
Character biography on wikipedia:
“Bane’s origin story is established in the story “Vengeance of Bane”. He was born in the fictional Caribbean Republic of Santa Prisca, in a prison called Peña Dura (“Hard Rock”). His father Edmund Dorrance had been a revolutionary and had escaped Santa Prisca’s court system. The corrupt government, however, decreed that his young son would serve out the man’s life sentence, and thus Bane’s childhood and early adult life were spent in the amoral penitentiary environment.”
DC Comics Relaunches the Original Green Lantern as a Gay Superhero
June 1, 2012 at 9:58pm
First of all you’re all thinking of the WRONG CHARACTER. This Green Lantern was the first character by that name and he is quite different than the one you’re thinking of.
This is not the GL that was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, this GL is not a member of an intergalactic police force, this GL was not given his ring by a nearly dead alien.
The character in question is shown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Scott
Honestly though,DC is patting itself on the back for taking a character that has very, very, rarely been in the public eye for the last 40 years and is NOT a mainstream character and making him gay. They act as though this is a brave decision but it isn’t. Taking a character that is almost completely unknown to those outside of comics fandom (this article & many of the responses to it demonstrate that point) is not being bold;it is taking the easy approach to solving a perceived ‘problem’. Remember that this is the “New 52″ version of DC,a brand new interpretation of the DC Universe where the back stories of the characters have been altered/erased just because the writers didn’t want to work very hard to tell interesting stories anymore. When the company decides to switch back to the original version of the DCU they’ll make Alan Scott straight again and none of this will have mattered.
“Brave” would have been taking one of their mainline characters (Superman,i.e.) during the original timeline and revealing them as gay. They couldn’t easily change t
Donations to Mercury One Help Victims of the Indiana Tornadoes
March 6, 2012 at 12:00pm
Thank you to The Blaze for trying to help with the relief efforts. As a resident of the affected region I can tell you that it is appreciated!
POPESTER7,
The DHS spokesperson quoted in this article is my sister-in-law,her sister,my wife’s other sister, resided in Henryville and has suffered some damage to her home,I live in adjacent Jefferson County and I can tell you that although I greatly dislike MSNBC they are correct to say that those wanting to help should take a moment and assess what help they can offer. The local Red Cross AND the Salvation Army chapter’s here in Jefferson County are coordinating relief efforts with those in the Henryville and Greater Clark County area and they stated yesterday that they no longer are taking material donations for the disaster relief efforts but are instead now in need of monetary donations.
The Jeffersonville(Indiana) Red Cross site is: http://www.miltonfireandrescue.org/donate.html
This is the Salvation Army’s website: http://l.wbx.me/l/?p=1&instId=f39bafd4-eb04-4e08-80de-140316bf73d0&token=5437b2cc2e30d5b85c73b039cd1c5e7d2274d13400000135db5662d0&u=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.salvationarmyusa.org%2F%3Fp%3D10424

Amish Men Jailed for Refusing to Mark Horse-Drawn Buggies with Orange Reflective Signs
January 13, 2012 at 10:30am
The Amish choose to live simply, according to the rules of their specific order and they hav every right to do so. However although their lifestyle is not illegals that doen’t give them the right to decide which laws they’re going to obey. They don’t get a pass on this issue just because their order doesn’t like the signs,Amish must obey the law just like anyone else and the law states that slow -moving vehicles must carry these signs.
This article doesn’t discuss the fact that there had been a compromise on this issue but for some reason that solution is no longer acceptable:
“Gingerich keeps a file cabinet drawer full of court papers on his farm. One is a 2004 letter from Cunningham, the Graves County Attorney, who said the Amish buggies could use gray reflective tape and hanging lanterns.
That’s just what Gingerich and his friends did, but he said they began receiving tickets a few years ago.
Cunningham “says he sent letters out to let us know that law is not validated anymore,” Gingerich said. He said he never received the letter.”
The idea that this band of Amish aren’t hurting anyone by not having a light source or a reflective sign on their buggies is foolish. By not dong so they are putting themselves and other users of the public roadways at risk of serious injury or death. Their decision to not abide by the law in this instance is selfish.
DNA Analysis Debunks Long-Held Belief on ‘Yeti Finger’
December 29, 2011 at 2:01pm
Elephants, gorillas, and many, many other animals were considered to be made up by attention seeking loud mouths at one point in history too. There’s nothing inherently unbelievable about the idea that there could be a large primate out there that science refuses to consider as real. Science and our understanding of the natural world is always changing so ridiculing the idea of yeti’s/sasquatches being actual animals is rather silly.
By the way those familiar with previous yeti relics will recall the story of the yeti scalps that were housed in a Hiamalayan monastery that, when tested and thourouhly analyzed, were found to be something more akin to a reindeer. I’m not dismissing anyone’s religious beliefs but just bear in mind that things like the shroud of Turin has it’s believers and detractors too. The shroud itself is real(tangible) but the long held belief that it once covered Christ has yet to be verified by science.
Lack of proor is not proof itself.
These Are Some Of The Biggest Product Flops of 2011
December 28, 2011 at 11:25am
The bailout was a bad idea no matter which president or political party backed it. Electric vehicles are NOT practical, yet. There’s no reason not to continue to work to develop them but the crap that was put out there surrounding this ill-conceived notion that the Volt was somehow better than any other electric vehicle that had preceded it in the market was just that, crap.
I would like to think that by this point in time everyone understands just how environmentally destructive hybrids and EV’s are. A vehicle that causes more pollution to be created BEFORE it’s various parts are even assembled is not the kind of thing the world needs nore of.
By the way congratulations on not being a parrot of Glenn Beck’s words, although I hate to inform you that there is a certain resemblance between your comments and those of talking heads that sit on teh other side of aisle. I’m sure that somehow exempts YOU from parrot status though.
The End? Sears to Close 100-120 Kmart and Sears Stores

They already have Sears Hardware stores. Stand-alone stores that focus on hardware and appliances. I dunno if any of those will be affected by these planned closures.
