  The mistake Polk made was giving Mexico back. If the US had kept it, those people would live in the United States, not a third world toilet. The best thing we could ever have done for the Mexican people would have been to incorporate Mexico into the US, Instead, they criticize the US for buying the southwest, and helping those people. Stupid is as stupid does.
