@ultrasecularlib if that hippy parts the Red Sea, prays and mana drops from heaven or strikes a rock and water pours out, then what more would one need to see before believing his credentials?

Keres, a story for history supported by several eye witness accounts as well as documented by historians of that time outside of scripture. DO I think it is proper vetting? I have taken the time to vett this, I have looked at it from the perspective of history, which continues to support the events and science. The other option you are telling me, which can not be vetted, is that out of absolutely nothing, life began. That is an absolute impossibility. We have never seen life begin from nothing. There is also our own personal encounter that neither I nor my wife can explain away. Nothing can strip from us that God is real and that his love is unfathomable when seen in the light of his son’s sacrifice on your behalf.

Pascal wager is pretty much the way it goes. I mean only a fool would deny that there will be answers in the end. I think it sucks for you because of the two options, one of them is not a good outcome for those who rebel against God.
 July 17, 2016 at 1:02pm
Then read the Bible. I would recommend the book of John. The only empty tomb is that of our saviour, Jesus Christ. All others who have proclaimed are still in their tombs. There is nothing wrong with what you state, it is important that you read the word yourself rather then take it from a second hand source and ask God to reveal himself to you.
cclevel,.....you think that is "proper vetting"???.......Your holy book??? :-/
Not even remotely close enough. And as for "reading the bible", have have....and extensively. I even asked on countless time for "god to reveal 'himself' to me". Nothing ever happened. So, a book,....or the strong certainty of a believer....will not cut it in my vetting process. And this is the ONLY way I can be honest about it.
As for "an empty tomb",...that is a story in a book without corroboration of any sort.
'Then read the Bible'
I do not believe in the god of the Bible precisely because I know all about the Bible.
It's obvious to many here, that you're just not praying hard enough!
Come on !
Put your back into it!
You're obviously praying about the wrong things !
Here's how to get the attention of God ;
Tell him how much you have sinned and how badly you need to be forgiven ...he likes to hear that stuff...
Tell God how you wish you could be perfect like his son and it wouldn't hurt if you smacked yourself around when you're doing it...God loves pain !
Finally, if all else fails,
Get yourself a poisonous snake to carry around...
That will ensure you'll be with him in no time !
I even asked on countless time for “god to reveal ‘himself’ to me”.
He has revealed Himself - Hebrews 1:1-2
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
Please do not think that TBN, DayStar or 99% of what is on television is actual Christianity. The majority are charlatans. Check out Justin Peters Ministries or NoCo Radio, John MacArthur, or CrossTalk radio. These are solid Bible teachers that know how to accurately handle God's word.
What exactly makes you sure your vetting process is fool proof?
In the Bible, in Exodus I think, God kills the first born male in every home in Egypt that hasn't marked their house to show they are Hebrew.
Does this mass murder of innocent people show proof of a loving God?
I can do without that kind of tough love.
I am slowly working my way through the Bible with guidance provided by the amazing polymath Isaac Asimov, famous for his science fiction. He was also a professor in biomed at Boston U. He (now deceased) provides a respectful even handed treatment of the subject and appears to be fluent in Hebrew.
I am learning quite a bit. Some topics he rejects as fantasy.
Try to keep some perspective.
If some person dressed like a hippy came up to you and told you that a burning bush had talked to him, would you believe him.
I respect Jesus' message of love your neighbor as yourself. Obama is closing out 8 years as our president and has been one of the intelligent and honorable presidents in our history.
He faced 8 years of racist bigotry from people who call themselves Christians. I was stationed in the segregated south. One of my assignments was to Dobbins AFB, in Marietta, a suburb of Atlanta in 1959. If that is your version of Christianity, you can keep it to yourself.
I found it despicable.
Why do we always get that question? Why is it his vetting process that is called into question while theists get to just keep screaming 'I just know!' louder and louder?
spankylistens2u, not sure that will even work. hehehe
Otayref,....again, you are expecting me to believe what other PEOPLE have claimed about something. Hebrews this or John that....it doesn't matter. You are speaking to me from a book. That, once again, is not going to be any use to me in a vetting process. The actual "god" must show up and dialog with me. Only then can I make an informed decision about it.
I don't base my knowledge of christians or christianity on TV preachers. I also would not be moved or affected by any of the radio suggestions you gave....because I already know what they state,....believe,....and expect us to believe about the Bible. I was a part of that life for a couple of decades. And as for "Bible teachers who know how to accurately handle God's word",.......when you learn bad form in seminary,....you'll preach it to others.
I never claimed that my vetting process is "fool proof", but as of yet, I've not even been given the opportunity to utilize it. All I have ever seen in my life is what others expected me to believe.......from pastors, Sunday school teachers, youth leaders,.....family members,.....all the way back to ancient writers. What do they all have in common? Humans with an opinion and/or agenda.
Blinky says: "I do not believe in the god of the Bible precisely because I know all about the Bible."
Bwahahahaha. This is the same Blinky that swears there is a verse in Hebrews that praises King Jephthah specifically for murdering his daughter.
Of course those that really do know the Bible also know that Blinky doesn't. Case in point, not only is what Blinky claims is in the book of Hebrews, NOT in there, Blinky goes on to expose his ignorance by swearing it is in Hebrews 31 and 32.
Now I'm not going to give it away, I want all of you to go look up Hebrews 31 and 32. Then you will know the truth and will know Blinky doesn't.
Blinky not only lies about things he claims are in the Bible, but he also lies about his half-vast knowledge of it.
Hi Keres, you say: "The actual “god” must show up and dialog with me. Only then can I make an informed decision about it."
God did that with me (and of course the naysayers mock that "happening"), but it didn't happen that I demanded his presence and honored my demand.
I had reached a point in my life where I had all I thought would make me happy, (college degrees, great job, great marriage, 3 kids, nice home, 2 cars, money in the bank, etc.) yet I was unfulfilled.
I was able to open my mind to the possibility that God might exist, and I went searching. It says if you search for him with your whole heart, you will find him. I did, and I did.
Those who have a relationship with the living God, really do appreciate it. They get so much out of it and want to do as he requests, and one request is to tell others about him and what that experience can be like.
Because of my experience of being apart from God, and then finding him, I can see and feel a positive difference that I believe you would enjoy and appreciate. Of course I want you to be able to develop a healthy relationship with God. If it helps me, why would I not want you to experience this?
Please understand that this comes from my heart. Reading the book of John once again, was good suggestion - if you can be truly open to the understanding that he might exist.
Please search for him with all your heart.
Keres, a story for history supported by several eye witness accounts as well as documented by historians of that time outside of scripture. DO I think it is proper vetting? I have taken the time to vett this, I have looked at it from the perspective of history, which continues to support the events and science. Oh did you miss it the last time I proved it?
Hebrews 11:32 Jephithah is mentioned, by name and is placed along side many other famous names about whom is said in Hebrews 11:38 that "the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground."
Go ahead, read Hebrews all all the way from the start.
Jepththat is mentioned by name and praised in the New Testament.
You got owned again on this subject so let's see what else you got.
By the way, creating a screen cap of this post in case you need to be reminded again that the New Testament holds up a guy who engaged in a human sacrifice of his own daughter in the name of your god as a 'hero'.
Blink don't let hate control your mind. If you really didn't believe in God why do you spend so much time fighting against him.
I am with you 100% when someone uses God name to force their evil onto someone, but if someone sees the true message of the Bible, and tries to love his neighbor, and you mock them and shout them down. I will be on the side of love.
The first time I realized Blinknight's error regarding the Book of Hebrews, I was amused...by the tenth time however, I was embarrassed ...for you ,
Give it a rest already and stick to the topic at hand .
While Blinknight mixes Biblical knowledge together with common sense, you just stick to recycled arguments of articles and posts passed...and it just sounds so darn petty of you.
I'm disappointed in you.
You could be contributing so much more.
How did you learn in school? Did your teachers dictate all of their knowledge to you verbally, or were you given reading assignments? Did you believe those reading assignments? Have you ever read anything that you believe? If so, why not scripture?
I will pray for you, Keres. I don't know if you have hardened your heart or you had some bad experiences in "church".
God's word is truth and will not return void.
Blinky first made his erroneous claim back in early December by stating Jephthah was praised in the book of Hebrews, SPECIFICALLY for the murder of his daughter.
When challenged, he originally said that in Hebrews 11:32 it did exactly that.
I pointed out that it did not say anything about Jephthah's supposed murder of his daughter, and certainly did not specifically praise him for that supposed murder.
So Blinky said it was elsewhere in Hebrews. I challenged him on that for 7 months, and he finally claimed it was in Hebrews 31 and 32. Another Blinky boo boo.
To clarify, no where in the book of Hebrews is Jephthah praised specifically for the supposed murder of his daughter.
His daughter's name is not even mentioned in Hebrews, nor anything about her supposed murder.
Blinky has had plenty of time to be honest about this.
So, we are back at square one with Blinky claiming Hebrews says something it decidely does not say, not being able to support his claim, and yet somehow, with Blinky's blatant scriptural errors aside, he "owns" me.
I know he exhibits all 9 characteristics of a narcissist, and this inability to not only support a wild ass claim, but in the face of all evidence to the contrary, can't even admit he made a mistake, only supports it.
Sorry Blinky, you couldn't even own a fish.
??? I think my post got deleted. I'll have to respond again.
cclevel, the "eye witness accounts" are a story in a book. They cannot be corroborated. The "extra-biblical historians" are not that credible when you really look at what they said....and WHEN they said it.....as well as the distinct probability of their words being added to later by believers to further their case.
I'm not one who believe "out of absolutely nothing". In fact, that is a theist position.
That we may not understand a process doesn't mean "therefore a god".
Someone's "personal encounter" is but anecdotal.
How I learned in my past is not relevant to whether a god exists, nor whether the writings of ancient people are factual,.....especially the supernatural claims. Aspect of known history, sure, but supernatural claims cannot be corroborated.
Why are you going to "pray for me"? Do you think I am in need?......because though I did have a bad experience with religion, that was not the reason I left, and is not the reason for my current worldview.
As for "the word will not return void",......I don't know what that even means. Of course I know what it means in the context of christianity [since I was in christianity for a couple of decades], but it makes no sense in non-religious reality.
Oh,.....and about this:
"...and that his love is unfathomable when seen in the light of his son’s sacrifice on your behalf."
Not everyone sees the Jesus story as you would expect them to.
 July 17, 2016 at 1:00pm
Well, you can mock the word of God but it will not change the outcome. In the end we will know one way or the other if God is true or we vaporize into nothing as many seem to think. What have we lost if we vaporize into nothing? On the other hand you risk God’s eternal judgement if you are wrong. The Bible states EVERY knee shall bow and every tongue confess Jesus Christ is Lord.
I'm not mocking God .
I'm mocking your belief in a fictitional God who has never existed and never will.
I do not nor have ever hated God.
I hate that you folks use your dogma to discriminate against folks who don't share your absurd beliefs.
I don't fear God.
I fear that if you folks had your way, America would turn into a Theocracy.
Pascal's wager is a lot of crap.
' In the end we will know one way or the other if God is true or we vaporize into nothing as many seem to think'
Or it could be something else entirely. The idea that either the Christians or the atheists are the "only options" is a false dichotomy. The Hindu could be right. The Muslims could be. We could find out that that whole Valhalla thing is for real after all. It could be a god or gods we've never heard of in all of human history.
Or indeed, it could be that we just die that's the end of us.
Nah, Spanky, I see what you do, it is counter to your words, but it is explained in scripture.
You are an enemy of God (according to scripture, and according to my experience with you).
Oh lookey, Ultra vomited once again.
Cleanup in aisle 4, cleanup in aisle 4.
Pascal wager is pretty much the way it goes. I mean only a fool would deny that there will be answers in the end. I think it sucks for you because of the two options, one of them is not a good outcome for those who rebel against God.
Once again: There are more than two options, there are thousands of them.
While I'm sure even I will be surprised by some things when I die (or else am transported to the clouds before that), it won't be that the God of the Bible is not the God I'll be with in Heaven.
The more I learn and know about him, the closer I desire to draw near to him. If this relationship is anything like what I'll experience in the afterlife, then I'm truly at peace because I know I cannot fully envision how special it will be.
I asked some of the questions Blinky asks, but that was long ago when I was actually searching. When I found him (actually he found me), those questions got answered in short order.
 July 17, 2016 at 10:00am
My friend, God’s word never changes. You may think it does not apply to you but the Bible tells us in the end he will judge us all according to his word. What you call strict God calls holy. You are setting up a false god to appease your lifestyle which violates the second commandment. God hates sin no matter how much we attempt to reclassify it. Good people are not good by God’s standards/ If that was so he would have never had to send his son to die onour belhalf. The Bible say ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. NONE ARE RIGHTEOUS, no not one. So you claim you are good but God states no one is good. Read your Bible and learn what God says about sin and what one must do to be saved. Your very soul depends on you knowing this.
Question for you sir or Madame ...
Why did your version of God have to send anyone to die for our sins?
Why didn't he simply decide to forgive everyone that had " sinned" just like we are all capable of?
In all my experience of choosing to forgive someone for their transgression against me. Or someone choosing to forgive me for all my transgression against them, it has never come up that a human life needed to be taken as a sacrifice to appease either one of us.
So why does your version of God have this great need to have anyone to sacrifice their life?
Just forgive already !
Let me show you how it's done God !
The Old Testament was written by the Hebrew victors.
If Hitler had won WW2, he would have written something very similar to the Old testament.
The bible is not a credible source.
In science, verification comes from repeatable experiments, not by unfounded assertions.
Most cultures have their special holy writings. Some of these writings influence or are influenced by neighboring cultures. The Greeks believed that their gods had sex with human beings. So does the Bible.
Ultra asks: "Where does the Bible address quarks and gluons?"
Apparently Ultra hasn't read even the first sentence.
Spanky, your questions and statements indicate a general ignorance of scripture.
You tell me you were raised as Christian, and yet you seem to have an extremely superficial grasp of some of the most basic Christian tenets.
Your sin is against God. This is made even more apparent in the interaction between Saul and Jesus.
But since you don't believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and have not honestly looked into their claims, why do you presume to be able to tell them a thing or two about how they should have done things according to Spanky?
I'm sure after reading your questions, they will come right down and apologize for doing you so wrong.
Actually, I think it will have to go the other way for you to experience or give true forgiveness. And that does not seem plausible at this time.
Here Ultra, let a truly honest man correct your inaccuracies (parenthetically):
The Old Testament was written by the Hebrew "victors" (I think, I mean I heard that somewhere but can't prove it and I don't even know how I'd begin).
(in my rich but biased imagination, I believe that) if Hitler had won WW2, he would have written something very similar to the Old testament (but in reality, I know I'm just trying to be as insulting as possible to hated Jews and Christians).
The bible is not a credible source (for me because I am not a Believer, however I know I should respect that it is sacred to many - I am just too bigoted to do that).
In (natural) science, verification (should) come from repeatable experiments (except where that is impossible), not by (what in my bigotry I consider to be) unfounded assertions.
(I've heard) most cultures have their special holy writings. (I suppose) some of these writings influence or are influenced by neighboring cultures (but I can't prove that either).
The Greeks believed that their gods had sex with human beings. (And because of my deep-seated bigotry, I say) so does the Bible (but again I'm just trying to be insulting because I know it doesn't say that anywhere).
You have failed to answer the question of why a sacrifice from Jesus was necessary...I suspect because of my ignorance of Scripture I was unable to phrase the question to your liking...so perhaps someone more patient and less condescending would be able to help me...by the way...if I have harmed or bothered any person or animal, I have sinned against them , not some mythical creature...
My duty as a moral being is to make amends and apologize to the person or animal I have offended, not to go to a Catholic Church and say 10 " Hail Mary's " to a " priest of God "
Sorry Spanky, I foolishly attempted to honestly answer your question (and I did) you simply rejected any scriptural answer before you even asked the question - such is your dishonest nature.
So how do you handle those things for which nothing can restore the original condition, when simply saying "I'm sorry" just doesn't fix it, when you don't have the money to begin to repair the damage?
Whether or not you accept it, Jesus made it possible for you to be in the presence of the Great I AM. Nothing you can do will make that possible for you, except to accept what Christ did for you.
Just because you reject that, does not make it false.
You asked, I gave you an answer. Why did I try? I do not know. When you ask any question, I should understand you are not really asking for an honest answer, just for an opportunity to display your pride.

I am just curious, what was Frances problem when they were attacked since they have very stringent gun control laws. Are their laws not tough enough? Remarks like these reflect the foolishness of the left.
 June 12, 2016 at 3:05pm
So if the NRA is to blame here, who do the libs blame in France who has stringent gon control laws? Their argument is so full of holes yet they can’t even see their own foolishness.
As usual Progressives propose exactly the wrong policies. Almost always their responses make things worse. Just like turning the depression into the 'Great" Depression. Just think how different the outcome of this tragedy could have been if there were a few armed citizens in the bar?

EVERYBODY was in the wrong here. You had wreckless driving by motorcyclist that jepordizes public safety, you had an enraged driver who should have never got out of his vehicle. The woman, now that is questionable, 3 on 1 is cause for serious concern or fear for life and once they struck (another criminal act) she had fear for his life. No one here can state one way or another if they would have stop at that point and left the scene. Of course the only ones who can determine this is a jury but a bunch of testosterone raged men with high flying egos that allowed a situation to get out of control. Adult behavior was absent in this case.
Look at that little gun she pulled, probably didn't have enough power to penetrate their riding gear, and the way she was waving it around, she never could have hit anyone with it in her condition. No not me, man when I pull my sidearm, you are looking down the barrel of a .45ACP M1911A1, the gun that the military relied on for more years then I can count. Biker was in the wrong, so was the BMW driver in my opinion. NEVER take the law into your own hands, it can only end up bad. Call 911 and drive on. If the police need you to testify they will call you. Still I believe that after things went south, the lady had a right to defend her man. I used to ride, loved every second on a bike till an accident put me in a car seat and I had to sell my bike.

Let me offer up a suggestion to the pro-choice crowd. Go watch the movie 180 on you tube, actually I would recommend everyone to see it. Excellent argument about abortion.
Go compare Roe v. Wade to Dred Scott v. Sanford. Both say humans are property.
 March 29, 2016 at 5:05pm
So we should go ahead and kill the baby because we are not sure about their future? I argue that the callous one is yourself for deciding that their future is uncertain and thus unviable and should be terminated. We have no moral authority over the life of our most innocent to decide who is and is not viable out of the womb. It is insane to think we will simply kill the child because people like you feel that their uncertainty of quality of life should lead to their death by cruel and unusual punishment on an innocent soul. We are living in very, very evil times.

Are you a Christian?

Isaiah 53 describes the messiah which perfectly matches who Jesus was and his suffering
Jesus is found throughout the old testament if you carefully study!

Having vended at tattoo and bike shows the problem is glaringly obvious. Colors. Every show I have dealt with except for one always made it mandatory no colors. When you allow for colors, you are simply asking for a fight at your event. The people who sponsored this should have known this very basic rule when dealing with these clubs.
Colors??? Seriously? You mean to tell us that the problem that should be respected is they don't like someone elses pick out of the Crayola box? How sad for them, go back to kindergarten and learn the basics of polite life in society. If that is the case then they aren't grown up enough to have a conference let alone let out to roam polite society. Please!
Plus adding alcohol to the situation. You always have those " couple loose cannons" so there is bound to be conflict.

What is so difficult in obeying orders?
 November 26, 2015 at 6:53pm
My son was asked to run at a friend who is a ccw permit holder. He covered 21 feet in two seconds. His reponse time for pulling his weapon out was over two seconds. People do not understand how quickly things can turn with a knife and how much ground a person can cover in such a short time. It can turn deadly very fast in what would appear as a safe distance. I am not defending the cops actions as I was not there but I also know how deadly a knife situation can be.
The cops all ready had there weapons out and ready. I don't think the 21 foot rule applies here
Actually it still does, because anywhere inside that 21 feet is still a danger zone. Basically less than 21 feet is even more dangerous, this kid was more like 10 to 12 feet from the officers, a distance he maintained throughout the video. So being closer than 21 feet can effectively negate the advantage of having a firearm unholstered.

Wow, so many of your pro Trump remarks remind me of the same over the top remarks from the Obama bot supporters. It is amazing to read.
 June 2, 2015 at 9:24pm
Interesting responses but off target if you claim the name of Jesus Christ. Love Your Enemies
Matthew 5…43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.’ 44 “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.… My flesh says blood for blood, an eye for an eye but my Spirit says that I should exhibit the same love as my Saviour did when he was taken away as a prisoner facing death. Our own brothers in the Middle East are showing us the true love of those who follow Christ. They are the victors because the enemy can not conquer them. I want to take up arms and deal justice but that is God’s role, not mine. He commands me to love my enemies and that is something I pray I can do. AS hard as it is in the flesh, his own disciples showed us what it really meant to be disciples of Christ. My prayers to those facing persecution and to our enemies that they may see the one true God.
Please explain this to me. How do you help people that do not want to be helped by non-Muslims? In this case I'm referring to the Sharia Law Muslims? I think most people here are on target and would like to see the Christians and Jews helped because they want it. You can pray for God to help them but that's not you directly helping them.
@cclevel -----------Geez! Good thing you weren't around when this country declared its independence.
But no worries, someone else will step up and fight for you.
May 29, 2015 at 7:13am
So on one hand they defend the right of so called artist who paint disgusting images of Christ and on the other hand attack Geller for insulting Islam for cartoon drawings and you can’t see the hypocrisy? Interesting how blind people become with the shoe is switched.
 May 29, 2015 at 7:09am
I am simply amazed at just how far the media is going, in order to side with Muslims on this issue. They argue with such passion in defense of Muslims and their rights to not be offended and yet I never ONCE saw this sort of debate on behalf of Christians during the so called piss Christ art and the elephant dung Mary. The double standards by the press NEEDS to be called out by Mrs Geller. I want to hear why the double standards! Why is there a need to come to their defense and yet they promoted the same free speech for those who insult Christ. Simply amazing to witness their hypocrisy.
