Which Republican Senator Is Offering a Shocking Endorsement of Gay Marriage After His Son Came Out?
March 15, 2013 at 10:48am
@EnemiesWithinWillNOTPrevail
“That’s your hypocritical opinion. You are condemned for judging. There is only one God and he makes no mistakes! efu.”
I am assuming Matt 7:1-5.
It is impossible to interpret the passage that way. Jesus was speaking to his disciples and a crowd (5:1). He tells them that they should not worry about the speck in their brother’s eye, while there is a log in their own (7:3).
If you try and say this is about not talking about the sin of others, then there is no possible way to point at a speck. Everyone was already declared to have a log.
Rather is the same teaching as the king who pardoned a huge sum (log) while his slave did not pardon a person who owed him little (speck) Matt 18:23-35
And the same teaching as found in the Lord’s prayer “forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors” (Matt 6:12).
Not to mention the sense of judging is wrong as Jesus isn’t going to come back and say what you did was evil… He is saying that now. Rather He will come and deliver judgment upon those who are practicing evil. You are confusing throwing stones with saying “sin no more” (John 8:11).
Or to mention that this passage would not be profitable for teaching… as you couldn’t use it without condemning yourself. If someone truly believed this passage to say ‘do not point fingers at people’ you would never hear them speak.

@00100111
“That’s between him and God. It is not the role of Federal Govt to have anything to do with marriage.”
But it should be as a government which does not “bring wrath on the one who practices evil” is immoral. Just as people through whom stumbling blocks come, like a government who upholds evil, are immoral (Matt 18:7).
If your position is to uphold immorality… that just means your position is immoral. Pointing at a manmade law won’t be an excuse as the question will arise “Why did you support an immoral law?”.

“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:26
If one truly follows Jesus he not only can, but must follow Jesus despite of family or self. If you can’t deny yourself or your family… you aren’t following Jesus and its time to double check exactly what path you are on.
Cupp: Is the New Pope a Blessing for Republicans?

@ carbonyes
Yep.
It is about not giving to Caesar what is God’s (Matt 22:21).
So Who Exactly Is the New Pope Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina (Pope Francis)?
March 14, 2013 at 12:41am
No alarm bells so far (besides the protestant ones involving the charge traditions of men (Mark 7:8)).
I am praying for the man and keeping my eyes open.
Since it was mentioned in this thread….
Rome cannot be the “Rock” upon which Christ built His church (Matt 16:18) because not all of Christ’s church was built upon Rome.
The foundations which involved Peter and all of the church were related in Acts 2 and 10. Pentecost (for the Jews) and kind of a mini Pentecost with Cornelius and his household. All churches (from Israel, Antioch, Ethiopia, name favorite place mentioned in Acts or the letters) stem from these two events where Christ did build upon Peter.
So while Rome is built upon the foundation of Peter (as are all churches) it is not the foundation upon which Christ built (and is building). It had to come from Jerusalem (Pentecost Acts 2)(Mic 4:2 Isa 2:3) and moved from there as described by Jesus (Matt 13:31-33 mustard tree seed to a tree/leaven working its way through dough).

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” Matt 6:24
Their love is clear. If they say they love Jesus, they are just lying to themselves.
Unfortunately this is not confined to just those who are confined. Most of so-called “Christianity” today is also lying to themselves. One cannot both love the world and God.
Illinois Republicans Cancel Meeting to Oust Chairman Over His Support for Gay Marriage
March 9, 2013 at 4:40pm
Let me add this for those who I am sure will point to democrats, like Obama, who say they are Christian and have/can win nationaly.
“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” Matt 7:22,23
Just because one calls himself a Christian, calls Jesus Lord, does not mean they are a Christian. The fruits reveal the wolves in sheep’s clothing. Jesus said not only can we know them, but that we would know them (Matt 7:15-20).

“he will speak out against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.” Dan 7:25
“It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him.” Rev 13:7
It isn’t a bitter pill to swallow. It has all been foretold. It requires faith and endurance (Rev 2;2,3,19 3:10 13:10 14:12) but I don’t have to swallow anything the world puts forth for me to swallow.
It is the separating of the wheat from the tares (Matt 13:30). The tares must be separated first and we are seeing that now. Good luck being a Christian and owning a business to sell or buy. And there is no way a Chritian will ever be elected in a national republican primary, let alone a national election.
But it is also a time of expectation; a time of joy in our faith and perseverance.

@soybomb315_II
Jesus did not come to fix the laws of that time (or today) for immorality or any reason.
That does not equate to anything resembling support for those governments or laws.
In fact His support for governments is the opposite of immoral laws (Rom 13:1-4). Governments with immoral laws just means they are immoral governments (notice nothing said about Christ’s saving truth, but rather truth about creation). Good for Christians personally (give to God) is to not take one’s own revenge (Rom 12:19). Good for governing authorities is to be an avenger against those who practice evil (Rom 13:4). Those laws which governments have that are against this, are evil, and will be punished. Governments which try to mix the two, giving to Caesar what is God’s, will be held accountable.
You do not have to voice an opinion, you do not have to vote. But if you do, if you are a Christian, it will match up with the same Spirit that says “sin no more”.
As a Christian I am not trying to change the world, this country, or even my city… because I know it will not happen, nor is that what we are commanded to do. But I uphold Christ in my voice, vote, living and then look around and see what God is doing. But my message doesn’t change because of laws, polls, or the situation. We are supposed to be light in darkness; by necessity our voice will be against the darkness, otherwise we aren’t actually light.

I wasn’t going to reply to this.. but I changed my mind.
The reason why governments do not conform to what is the Godly function of government, even though God appoints them?
Because God is directing the nations to destruction. They are appointed to be destroyed.
The governments have never been meant to be perfect, but to fulfill God’s purpose.
