• Is the ‘Common Core’ Initiative Dumbing Down America’s Students?

  I’m an educator in Ohio. I teach 3rd grade students. Common Core is FAR more rigorous than what we currently have in Ohio. My issue is that there are only two companies that are creating the tests. Our state has signed on with PARCC. With a monopoly like that, there is no way to ensure quality products or competitive pricing. I will tell you that the difficulty of the released questions is much greater than current OAA testing. For example, a released 3rd grade Common Core question is: You have to build a fence around the perimeter of your property. The front of your property is 53 feet long. The sides of your property are 252 feet long, the back of you property is 50 feet long. Fence is sold in 3 lengths: 8′ sections, 10′ sections and 14′ sections. 8′ sections cost $50 each. 10′ sections cost $75 each and 14′ sections cost $100 each. What is the most economical way to build the fence? Prove how you know below.

  This video is confirmation that there is an entire population and it’s culture that in no way could I understand or identify with in any way. I couldn’t imagine living that lifestyle or seeing and listening to that everyday of my life. I realize times are always changing but this is devolution at it’s finest. From the drug dealers to the women in the video and their kids. It’s most interesting that the “baby daddy” didn’t seem to be at all concerned that his kids were screaming you’re gay and his “baby mama” was being violent and cussing in front their “babies”. In fact, we only see him AFTER she got knocked out. Maybe if he were there diffusing the situation and being a father and husband this would have been avoided.

  Marriage is an institution that was created by God. This is the reason that the government should have NEVER gotten involved in a religious practice. Tax breaks are not worth the headache of being dictated to how my faith is to be practiced. Please remove all government incentives to marriage. Separate church and state here. Allow the government to recognize “legally” two people deciding to join financially together and therefore protecting them from each other when they inevitably decide to leave one another but PLEASE get out of my faith. Religion and MARRIAGE is a GOD instituted ceremony. If I were an atheist, I would NOT want to be married. I may want the benefit of taxes, a partner or companionship but why a marriage? Please separate church and state here. The state has no business in my church. Take away my tax breaks for tithing and donating, take away filing my taxes jointly for marriage, just get out of my religious freedom and take your atheists and the ACLU with you. I don’t get married for tax breaks, I don’t tithe to have a write off in April. I married my spouse because God has brought us together and we want the world to see the picture of Jesus and His bride in our life as a testimony for what God has done through Jesus Christ. I tithe to give a portion of all that God already owns back to Him out of obedience to Him. This makes me sick.

  OK, I’ve watched both video’s 3-4 times each. I can’t see ANYTHING in the original SOHO video, no matter how much they slow it down. At least I can’t until the very end when it zooms into something red and streaky. Let me get this straight, something red and streaky is seen near the sun? Earth shattering.

  People, we are alone in the universe. We are alone in creation. If you are looking for a higher purpose look to God. Stop looking for answers in space. Unbelievable. Literally.

  Who cares. Apple was king, not any longer. The new Galaxy S3, HTC One X and most likely 10 other Android phones will be ahead in technology by the time this phone comes to the market. Don’t get me wrong, it will be built beautifully, people would buy it even if it smelled and looked like a turd just so they could get that little apple on the back of it.

  “Faux War” sounds to me like she fired a shot expecting to be backed up by an army only to realize everyone had stepped back after she fired. She started the war with her words and now asks for a cease fire.

  When you fire a shot, and he get badly outgunned and out positioned, don’t expect courtesy and a mulligan. You should expect to be blown away and made an example to everyone else that would ever think of firing such a stupid shot again.

  @DEAVONREYE I say those purposefully hardened are without hope of salvation and will spend eternity in hell. It is God who chooses those for heaven and God who chooses those for hell. Humanity tries to place itself in the greatest position of importance in all things.

  Humanity is ONLY placed in the highest priority when it comes to created things. Humanity is God’s greatest creation and therefore is the highest on earth Lording over all things here. God is higher than man. Just because we are the highest here, does not mean we are the highest in eternal things. For a man to go to hell and burn because God willed it, if it is in the mind of God to be so, then it will be so and without remorse or regret.

  Yes, God created some for heaven and some for hell. When Christians come to terms with this, they will spend less time arguing with others and more time evangelizing.

  Now you will say, why evangelize if God made some for heaven and some for hell and we have no say. I say I want to glorify my God in all things sharing the Gospel. It is not for their glory and edification, it is for my pleasure to bring God glory. It pleases God for me to proclaim his name, therefore I share the Gospel. Praise God that I am not responsible for souls that are lost. It is His will and His purpose that is being fulfilled, therefore it should be Him that makes that decision.
