  @Ramonpreston Your Jehovah Witness lunacy is in opposition to history. So, Constantine made Christianity pagan? Are you saying that the bishops and other Christians who were persecuted and nearly martyred for the faith suddenly decided at Nicaea to become pagan because Constantine said so!? That is absolutely absurd. So, Constantine made is so that we are justified by faith and works and the bible really says faith alone? The ONLY place in the entire Bible where the words faith and alone appear next to each other is in James 2:24, which in the KJV reads “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”

  The idea that Petros is a stone and Petra is the rock is absurd, as that would be the only place in the Greek language for the word petros to be used that way. The Koine Greek word used for stone in Revelation 21:11 is Lethos, not Petros. The fact of the matter is that Christ could not call Peter Petra because Peter is a male, and so Petra had to be converted to Petros to have the correct ending. In John 1:42 rather than using the Greek translation st. John uses the original Aramaic which Christ actually spoke, and says that Christ called Peter Kephas, the same word used for the rock upon which the Church would be built. This is because Aramaic, like English, had neuter endings.

  @Max Jones I was a protestant, a devout protestant. I believed all the propaganda that the Church was pagan and the antichrist, then I actually learned the truth about it.

  Justification by Faith and Works is not works salvation, as Grace comes by God’s love alone. If Justification by Faith and Works is works salvation then so is Sola Fide, because under that doctrine there are people who are damned for not having faith. “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” James 2:24. We are given faith by God and if we abide in him and in that faith we will do good works. This justifies us to the grace of God which comes by his love alone.

  We do not pray to saints for help, saints cannot help us directly. They can pray for us, just as the angels and elders in Revelation offered up the prayers of the saints to God “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.” Revelation 8:3-4

  Eventually the continent would have been discovered (and successfully colonized, sorry Vikings). The history of the continent might have turned out differently, but it definitely would have been discovered. Ultimately because of the sentiments of the time of the American Revolution a revolution was going to happen somewhere, so history may not be radically different.

  There was no chance of Nazi Germany winning World War II, even if the United States did not exist. By letting British Troops escape to Britain at Dunkirk and allowing Göring to head the Luftwaffe the Blitz failed, thus preventing Operation Sea Lion from coming to fruition. Even if Hitler had not invaded the Soviet Union the Soviet Union would have eventually invaded him. The scientists who escaped Germany to the United States to develop the Atomic Bomb would have likely gone to Britain if the United States did not exist, and so the Manhattan Project would have been inevitably completed which would decimate the German war machine.

  @desertrose Barton is not a liar, he is just extremely incompetent. He couldn’t even manage to be historically accurate when trying to prove that John Locke was a Christian (which he is, there is no debate on that. His non trinitarianism is irrelevant to whether or not he was a Christian), so I wouldn’t expect him to be factually accurate when trying to prove that Jefferson was a Christian (at least in the traditional sense. He considered himself a Christian deist because he believed in the moral teachings of Christ but he did not believe in the deity resurrection of or the atonement of sins by Christ, nor did he believe in Yahweh (he believed in a God, just not Yahweh)). He probably honestly believes what he rights and honestly believes he is right, he is just incompetent.
