  • My five….(six actually)
    1. Ron Paul
    2. Andrew Napolitano
    3. William Lane Craig
    4. Thomas E. Woods
    5. (tie) Walter Williams and Ben Swann

  • As a longtime, devoted Penguins fan, this was devastating to see yesterday. This was such an exciting time for Pens fans with the recent additions of Morrow, Murray, and Iginla and a long (and continuing) winning streak making Pittsburgh the heavy favorite to win the Stanley Cup. I’m confident that Sid will be back by the play-offs though and I still like our chances.
I’ve been watching hockey for over 30 years and there are only 3 players that I would describe as unbelievable and amazing players – Gretzky, Lemieux, and Crosby.
    Speedy recovery Sid!

  • Check out his statements on gun control and then make up your mind. Personally, I’ll pass on Dr. Carson.

  • I predict that he will do a couple of years getting exceptional privileges in prison, he will then be released and be re-elected as Detroit Mayor.

  • It’s easy to fall in love with just about any dog you own, but once you own a German Shepherd you realize what an incredibly special breed they are. Truly exceptional animals and my home will never be without one.

  • When it comes to crimes committed with a gun, leftist logic is always to punish the people that didn’t do it.

  • I think a much better rating system is this one.

Scores each member of Congress based on Constitutional fidelity on every vote.

  • Thank you for your kind words Flyer. We (police officers) are sometimes our own worst enemies. I know that with so many viral videos of reprehensible behavior it can seem like the majority of cops are like that but it’s not the truth. The bad actors get all of the attention while the good cops (and there are many) do their jobs quietly and without any expectation of attention for the good things that they do. I promise you that no one dislikes bad cops more than good cops do.

The comments sections of the online stories about bad cops sometimes make me think that cops are almost unanimously hated and actually I can understand how these stories and viral videos can cause such outrage (I feel it myself), but hopefully when the anger and outrage subside, I hope people realize that of the 800,000 cops in America the majority behave much better than the ones who we talk about online.

  • Occasionally cops do or say something so wrong and so ignorant that it makes me embarassed to be one. This is one of those times. This chief is so clueless I don’t even know how to respond to such nonsense. I’ve said it many times on The Blaze (and with all of the bad cop behavior stories, it’s becoming more and more difficult to be convincing) but believe me, most cops are not like this one.

  • I’ll probably tick off both “sides” on this one. I’m a cop and a libertarian (aka Paulbot). To some that seems like an oxymoron but the fact is that there are many cops who have a very strong conservative/libertarian philosophy.

Statements like those above, that cops are 90% arrogant and 10% bully or even statements that cops are heroes are both ridiculous. There are almost 800,000 cops in America today and so, like in any profession, there is the full gamut of personality types. There are some cops who are horrible human beings (those are the ones that turn up on viral videos) and there are some cops who are among the finest people you could ever hope to meet (those are the ones you rarely hear anything about).
Anyone who implies that all cops are bad or likewise that all cops are good is making a foolish statement.

In Dorner’s case, it’s possible that he was wrongly fired for being a whistleblower. I don’t know and neither do any of you. If he was, it certainly doesn’t justify the homicidal rampage he apparently resorted to. In my 28+ years of experience on a fairly large city police department, I’ve seen that the really bad cops weed themselves out and rarely have a full term career.
