  • Similar comments are made after a number of the books in the bible and were written before the bible was ever even compiled. That reference refers only to the Book of Revelation and not the bible in its entirety. Perhaps you should be a little more thorough in your scripture studies if you are going to use the scriptures as a weapon to bash others. Or perhaps I am just misguided. After all, I follow the instructions of that man… what was his name? Oh yeah, Jesus Christ, the son of God, who said things like “Judge not lest ye be judged”, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, and “Love thine enemies?” Your comment sounds more like it came from a Pharisee than a Christian.

  • Thank you Shasta. It is the seething hatred posted on comments from this specific site that transformed me from a life long Republican to a Democrat. They are doing their cause no justice. The rampant intolerance of people like this are what is driving hordes of voters, like myself, to the other side.

  • Amen, JP16!

  • This has to be one of the most ignorant comments I have ever read on the Blaze. What makes “American” culture superior to Native American cultures? I read so often on “The Blaze” how Christians are fearful of Muslims taking over America and stripping you of your freedoms and religion. Yet, that is exactly what the American forefathers did to the Native People. Europeans came here, slaughtered the indigenous population, drove them off their lands, rounded them up and placed them on lands so barren they could not even feed their people, then imprisoned and/or killed them when they left their prison (aka Reservation) in search of food, and finally took their children forcibly from them and sent them to boarding schools where they were renamed with Anglo names and denied their language, history, and culture.

Do I agree with this woman’s opinion? Heck no! I think Native Americans would be far better off spiritually if they let go of the anger, accepted history, and moved forward. BUT!!!!! Do I think they should assimilate? NO! NO! NO!

Who are you to demand that they abandon thousands of years of their culture just to become like you!!?? How they choose to live their lives is none of YOUR business. You want to retain your freedom? Then respect the freedoms of others! You want to worship your god according to the dictates of your own conscience? Then allow others the same.

I learned that she is a young woman with a great deal of anger who, like all of god’s children, deserves our compassion and love. And, while I personally attribute most of what she said to a lack of life experience and growing up as a repressed (arguably a somewhat self-repressed) minority, some of her points are accurate. I agree with her that we live in a society that throws away billions of dollars to special interests while we continually fail to educate our children. I also agree that it is a sad testament to our society that it is cheaper to eat at McDonald’s than to feed our children healthy meals. And what I know from experience is that you can not educate a person by attacking them, ridiculing them, or posting condescending comments to or about them. To “re-educate” someone, you must first understand them. To understand them, you must listen to them. To gain their trust, you will need to show them respect.

  • That’s the problem… all any side ever hears from the other is blah blah blah… we never listen to each other.

  • I have to tell you.. when I first started reading this site I was a die hard republican. But the rampant small mindness spewed amongst the comments on this site have really pushed me more toward the middle. I’ve lost respect for Beck as a result of many of these articles and the shameless scam advertising & I’ve lost respect for my fellow republicans due to their blatant hatred for anyone different than themselves. I certainly could never call myself a democrat.. but I’m ashamed to call myself a republican after seeing the kinds of responses posted here. As a result of this site, I’ve gone from being a die hard “listen to Beck religiously” fan to a “whatever, next channel” fan.

  • Are you listing the correct email? Due to the holiday, all of the school offices are closed. So, I have not been able to confirm this information without contacting the individuals at home which I am reluctant to do. But, I believe you are targeting the wrong person with your emails.

Although the Lee County School’s website still lists Rob Dietrich rdietrich.sl@lee.k12.nc.us as the Principal, that same website has a page of employee profiles that lists Rob as the Director of Accountability, Testing and Records. If you click on the link to the official website for Southern Lee High School, the principal is listed as Bonnie Almond balmond.sl@lee.k12.nc.us .

For good measure, I will be contacting both Rob and Bonnie as well as the superintendent, Jeff Moss jmoss@lee.k12.nc.us

    In reply to poverty.sucks.

The only thing I’ve read on this page that sounds “confused” is your comment, poverty.sucks.

  • Christine, if I lived in Delaware you would have my vote. :)
