I remember that day very well, however, the gravity of what happened didn’t hit me for about a week. I was 2 weeks over-due for the birth of my first child and was more concerned with myself. I had a healthy boy 5 days after the disaster and then it hit me….WOW, all those lives lost, how utterly sad! Then the Columbia disaster was the day before my son’s 17th birthday, we watched it happen from here in Texas.

The cover was vandalized, so that means they probably secure it over night nearby. So they wouldn’t have been standing there. I’m sure they felt if they gave them free food, they would be left alone. But of course these are not rational people they are dealing with. We used to own a hot dog cart business and would secure it at the location at night. Also they probably couldn’t just go somewhere else, when you are permitted it’s usually for a specific location in order for the health dept. to do their inspections. By the way, these mobile food vendors are usually the cleanest food servers in town because everything they prepare is in front of everyone. You’d be surprised at what a restaurant looks like in the back!

Not Funny……If you means test SSI then you must admit is had become nothing more than another welfare program, unless you let those people out of paying for it. Besides, there aren’t enough “rich” people for means testing to save SSI. Get rid of the whole program, come up with a private retirement program. There are families, friends, churches and charities to help those caught in between, but we have to get rid of the problem, not just the symptom. The problem is this dependency on government for everything from cradle to grave.

My mom was a feminazi-liberal and a child raising a child during the 60′s. She couldn’t believe it when I voted for Reagan in 1980, we went round and round about politics ever since. I made it one of my life’s goals to “turn” her. Hell officially froze over back in 2008…she voted republican for the first time in her life! It took her living with me and my family after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and seeing conservative principles lived out. We took care of her through all 3 cancers over a 6 year period when doctors in CA told her to go home & get her “life” in order, “she wouldn’t make it 2 yrs”. It was funny listening to her talk about “those” liberals after so many years. She passed in my arms last year and I was comforted by the fact she also regained her faith before she passed! I am very blessed to have had her as my mom! We also took care of my husband’s mom before she passed, it’s just what we’re supposed to do.

Social Security is a tax, not an insurance policy. As FDR said, it’s a way to “sop up” excess money. The only problem is the people started living long enough to collect. The Ponzi Scheme is over and means testing won’t save it. I’m self employed and have paid in both parts for 25 years and don’t expect a dime back. The sad part is I’ve known this for over 30 years, why is everyone else so surprised?

I’d say that if you have 50 semester hrs past a M.D. + 29 yrs experience and making $30,000, you’re not too bright and all that “education” wasn’t worth your time or money. After all you CHOSE to stay in a job that didn’t pay you your “fair share”! In the private sector we don’t get paid “our fair” share, we earn our income based on our output and not some share of the proverbial pie.

Obama must now realize that it might not be a good thing to throw his support their way. After him going on about his report of OWS, this morning on the news they said “Obama has “tolerated” OWS.
