  • I think he’s pretty accurate about a coming frontier where technology and humanity come head-to-head. This has been my mindset for almost 2 decades–when I first started getting online via BBS and Telnet:// before hardly anyone besides Tim Berners-Lee gave much thought to a World Wide Web. Psst, FYI, www is only a part of the Internet, it is not the Internet.

I question whether we can even still technically refer to ourselves as ****-sapien. My thought is that as technology & humanity reach this “singularity” that we will essentially become either an extinct species or a new species–I will coin: “Techno-Sapien”.

I forewarn people against the taking up the old argument that machines will never be able to think for themselves; that a computer can only do what it is told; that AI is a lie–a misnomer perhaps, but what is it to be human if not a thinking machine? A feeling machine?

My point being that your body runs on electrical impulses, as does a computer. Is it such a far stretch to draw comparisons?

    Human | Computer
    ————————————————-
    Short Term Memory = RAM
Long Term Memory = Hard Drive
    Intelligence = CPU Speed
    Seeing/Eyeballs = Monitor
    Hearing/Ears = Soundcard
    Speaking/Vocal Chords = Microphone
    Touching/hands = Keyboard, mouse, screen
    Moving/Feet = Networking
    Healing/Immune System = Virus Scans/Removal

Is it such a stretch to see a world 50 years, 100 years from now where these become synonymous? One and the sam

  • I’ve looked at these machines for awhile. …I think the point is that they are becoming more mainstream and the trend with technology is that it gets cheaper, better and more available to the public–this was simply an example of another cross-over in technology.

  • “One thing I will not compromise over is whether or not Congress should pay the tab for a bill they’ve already racked up,” You spent $6 trillion dollars. I don’t like congress’ out of control spending, but you are a pathetic excuse for a person, let alone a president, for trying to blame everyone else.

  • There does seem to be a certain degree of faith in Atheism. Faith that the Big Bang is correct and that the something of existence was formed out of nothing. Faith that their empirical science will not be overturned tomorrow as their old science was replaced with new science & discovery today, etc.

Surprised that nobody as pointed out that there is a “First Church of Atheism” w/ 7 thousand or so ordained ministers? Curious as to whether they are: 501c3 tax exempt or not?

I really do not see the problem with Christians having nativity scenes on public land. If it belongs to the people, with the correct permits and is within the law, they should have the ability to use it. My warning to Christians though, is that Athiests share that same right and you may not especially like their public displays…

It seems to me to be a big waste of time and tax payer dollars. The nativity scene is not causing anyone harm. The only examples anyone ever comes up with are absurdities. Why is it so important for people to want to “destroy” tradition instead of “create” it?

  • @RJJinGadsden Pretty sure you hit the nail on the head.

  • @searcher619 Yes, certainly I am concerned about the freedoms of all of those who fight against tyranny and the country as a whole and the impact on the entire region and the entire world and the U.S.

The reason I honed in on Women’s suffrage is because I think it’s a poignant enough issue to tap into and persuade women that they were duped. It’s a specific issue and not just a general “this is bad” statement. I believe the demographic percentage gap (women who voted for Obama) was 11 or 12% ? Picking up just 1 or 2 percentage points could potentially be huge.

  • Through my other online channels I keep re-iterating “Women are becoming slaves in Egypt! Women’s equality removed from the constitution. Don’t any of you care about real women’s suffrage? Why is our President and why are you, especially women on the left who voted for Obama, remaining silent when an actual real war on women is occurring?”

The dialog has gone something like that for the past four days or so.

Is it because it’s not right in front of their faces? …because it is not packaged up with a pretty punchline? …because they weren’t told what to think, so they think nothing? …well, gee…

If you have female friends on the left, like I do (I live in the real world), I recommend you start phrasing those conversations. Hopefully a small percentage of them will at least start doubting the reasons the voted for this guy and maybe start to realize they got duped. Doesn’t change this election, but hopefully 2014.

  • Do any of these people have a middle school education at least?

  • Shouldn’t there be some question of “Child Abuse” here which supersedes your religious freedoms in a secular society? If a Christian were to convince their child to nail their hand to a piece of a wood… pretty sure people would be crying foul!

  • You are despicable. Our battle of values has never been about race.
