  if someone decides to live in an alternate reality, we usually call that person insane.

  if i were to decide tomorrow that i am trans-species, and tell all my friends that i am going to legally change into a cat, and i am going to act like a cat, and i am going to live my life like a cat… and go so far as to believe that i am really a cat, i was just born in a human’s body, i should hope my friends would have me committed. it is absolute lunacy for me to deny the reality that i am a human, because i was born a human.

  why is the same not true for gender? why is it ok for a person to deny the reality that they were born a male or a female? being attracted to the same sex, or dressing like the opposite sex are separate issues… believing something that is contrary to reality indicates that there are mental issues at play.

  if we are going to accept that this man is really a woman because he says he is a woman, then we need to put every lunatic who thinks he is adolf hitler on trial for crimes against humanity. we need to give every person who believes they are Thomas Jefferson of Ben Franklin the chance to explain the constitution, so we dont keep getting confused…

  but we dont do that… because we know that just because someone says they are Ben Franklin, that doesn’t mean its true. Just because a man says they are woman, that does not make him a her.

  but maybe i really am a cat.
