@floridafarmgirl, I too am from Florida – conservative and Southern Baptist-raised. Yes, I do things in the bedroom that are not approved by the Baptist Church… but only with women. But I don´t go around throwing this up in peoples´ faces, demanding their approval and respect. I don´t talk about it – like any Southern gentleman or lady. @ThirdArchon says we conservatives lost the battle ten years ago. If this is true, why haven´t the weirdos won the battle in the past ten years?

Who declared an “LBGT History Month”? Somebody had to start the entire idea before anyone else can share in it. Who was it? Who decreed that the Broward School Board must get on the train?

Their children are not obligated by law to go to your house and listen to your opinions.

There are only nine months in the school year. We now have Black History Month, Hispanic History mMonth, Women´s History Month….ad nauseum. Now with LBGT Month. What comes next? Sheep-lovers´ Month? Little Girl Fantasy Month? Take-your-daughter-to-bed Month?

The Third Archon, in response to your pot, says there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. OK, sez me, take a hand-full of crap and wipe it on your winkie. That seems natural, no? I agree with you ,WTM: we tolerate personal preferences as long as it remains inside the bedroom. The problem with homosexuals these days is that want to throw it in our faces and demand approval/respect. I will never approve of or respect their behavior but as long as they don´t strut it in public, I won´t condemn them.
And Third Archon, before you fire off an indignant response, I say to you “Bite it”.

No, there are other ways to solve the problem…

““Administrators, teachers, staff, parents and students are encouraged to take part in LGBT History Month in any way that is most positive and uplifting to their schools and communities,” the [resolution] states.”
Why doesn´t the resolution also invite dissenting opinion? I can assure everyone, having grown up in Central and North Florida, that most folks are against the LGBT weirdness. Can you imagine a Good Ol´ Boy from Ocala saying, “Hey, buddy, how ´bout stickin´ yer thang in my butt? Then we can go hunt some ´coon”?”

There are two possibilities: One – he is truly afraid of a little hurricane What a twinky. The other: he´s concerned about yhe drain on “local law enforcement and emergency management resources”. He’s vice-presidential window dressing. He needs no more than two or three Tampa cops along with his Secret Service contingent to protect his fool ass.

How was this policy ever enacted in the first place?
Who enacted this policy?
Is it for one county only or the entire state?
is this policy supported by some law that gives the authority to the policy-making entity to make this sort of policy?
Why has this policy been in effect for seven years without review or revision?
Gangs don´t use OK college clothing? That is, the gangs decided that any athletic logos or names are fair play except Oklahoma´s? I seeeeee…..

A voice of reason, EH? Yes, we are birds of a feather and in almost forty years of wonderful experiences in Canada I can say you Canucks are better friends than the Pommes – at least in Western Canada and CAF nation-wide. And those curling tournaments in Greenwood!! When people see the smile on my face in my casket, it will will be evidence that I died with Greenwood, Halifax, Bamff and Victoria on my mind.

Canada has its laws and any visitor should respect them. Judging ONLY by the contents of this article I see two possibilities: the kid thought he might be able to sneak through without mentioning the pistol or he truly didn´t know/think that he needed to “declare” it. I always thought “declare” was related to Customs concerning new purchases. As a frequent international traveler I have learned to respond to the question with “I don´t know. What sorts of things am I required to declare?” This establishes that I am not a border agent or attorney that knows the law.
What I find hard to believe is that an open-and-shut, slam-dunk case requires six months to bring to trial. He cannot leave the province yet is not allowed to work. Begging for money is illegal and it is a crime to steal food. He will not be able to pay for lodging during the frigid winter. It´s as if Canada is saying “Do us all a favor and just die of starvation before the trial.” If Canada wants to wait until 2013 for such an earth-shattering case, keep the kid in jail and provide food, water, shelter, heat and security – the basics of life.
By the way, I dearly love Western Canada and am not being critical of her. Just thinking rationally…
