  • Anybody ever been to Paragould? It is approximately 94% white and is mostly low-income. Most of the crime in that town is drug related. The reason you don’t see the typical liberal race-baiting groups screaming about racism, nazi-ism, police state, show me your papers, etc is because is it mostly white and doesn’t fit their narrative.
You can bet if this happened in a town with a higher percentage of non-whites, then it would be plastered all over the state run media.

  • You’re not the only one. I have no intention to ever buy the new Fisher-Price operating system. People who buy the brand name computers (Dell, HP, Acer, Compaq, Gateway, etc) will be stuck with Windows 8 unless they have a Windows 7 disk. ;)
Microsoft has declared that this is the new look and you will like it. Um, no thanks, a touch screen interface in an office environment is not what one could call productive…besides, wouldn’t a person’s arms get tired from reaching across their desk to use a touch screen monitor or how about the people who love to eat cheetos while gaming (or other things), just imagine all that orange dust all over the screen. lol.

  • I think many people would be more accepting of Windows 8 if Microsoft had allowed the option for users to switch from a touch screen interface to a regular desktop interface. Microsoft has virtually removed all abilities to change the interface. They have decreed that this is the new look and you will like it. I think I’ll stick with Win7 and see if Windows 9 is any better. :p

  • I would really miss the clicks too. I got out of my way to find old keyboards with the clicks and tactile feedback. Since I switched to mechanical keyswitch keyboards, my typing has improved and I type faster and with fewer mistakes. But I guess it’s to each his own. I prefer my noisy keyboards and mouse over a rubber dome keyboard and touch pad any day.

  • I use an old IBM model M keyboard as well. Mine is dated 1993 and I love the clicky sound it makes when I type. That clicky sound really helps when typing essays, reports, and research papers. I find I can type faster and with fewer mistakes with a clicky keyboard like that.
If you think the Model M with its buckling springs is a great keyboard, you should check out a northgate omnikey evolution keyboard with its ALPS switches. Man, talk about clicky and noisy, lol. Both these keyboards are heavy and built to last. If a switch ever goes out, it’s easy enough to fix or replace the individual switch. That’s not possible with the “quiet” rubber dome keyboards that are so prominent these days.

  • Memphis is a city with a minority white population and the previous standards for being a police officer were considered too tough since the city did not have enough *ahem* “minority” officers. The local police unions and the ACLU fought to have the standards lowered so now, no longer is the city protected by the best and the brightest. Instead, the city police department seems to have an unusually high number of officers either being investigated for or have been convicted for crime and corruption.

Memphis just can’t wait to become just like that “thriving metropolis” called Detroit what with the majority welfare entitlement gimmie society that lives here and the corruption and the crooks in local politics for the past 25 years.

~ Just remember, when seconds count, the police are many minutes away. :p

  • Also ixquick does not use search results from google like their twin startpage.com.
Even though startpage claims the search results are anonymous, I feel better just avoiding anything to do with google. ;)

  • @ WTD
I cannot recommend Dogpile for a search engine as they use search results from the borg entity that is google. Dogpile happily proclaims it right on their site:

“Dogpile aggregates the most relevant searches from Google, Yahoo! and Bing…”

I recommend DuckDuckgo.com or Ixquick.com as neither one obtains their results from google, or yahoo/bing. ;)

  • @ M1A2_Tanker
The problem with startpage.com is that it obtains search results from the google borg. I find it better to use it’s twin ixquick.com instead. Ixquick obtains it’s own search results and does not use results from the borg.

  • @ TomFerrari

If you want an alternative to the google borg try Zoho.com for email. It caters more towards business but they do have free personal email for individuals. I have used it for over a year now with no problems. Short of hosting your own domain and email, Zoho seems like a really good alternative to the borg.
