  I’m someone who knows a bit about computers, and no, it is not “stupid” to try this out. Turns out this article is slightly true, it does cause freezing. But it will only affect the application you type it into. Thank’s OS X “sandboxing”, every app is an island, and the issue does not spread to the OS. All I had to was force quit and relaunch (Safari for example). If a bug like this existed on a Windows computer, there is no doubt it would have frozen the entire operating system.
