  • I often pray to God that we may see his hand in our lives, for I know it’s there if we just look. We have just witnessed God’s hand.

  • I must admit, I will never, ever understand the pro wrestling crowd. Reality TV gets its roots from pro wrestling and soap operas. All three being complete fantasies. My heart weeps for my country.

  • I work for an electrical co-op in Ohio, and i install and maintain these “smart” meters every day. Firstly, people sign a contract for power which means we own the meter, always have, and on occasion we need access to it. I hate being in anyone’s yard and these meters are meant to save us all money. Labor costs on my end. They send an ultralow frequency signal over the power lines to a collector at the substation. Satellite then sends reading to our office. They are no more dangerous than any electronic item in your home. And why would anyone want to hack into your power meter. Cant be done for that matter. We cannot selectively cut your power from a remote location through your meter. Oh, the option is there but it was extremely cost prohibitive as a cost per unit. Nearly triples the price of 1 meter. If someones account is in arrears, i will be out to try and collect, and if unsuccessful i will turn off the meter the old fashioned way.

  • Well said Ralloh. I install these meters every day and believe me they are not that “smart”. Ideally we want to run field audits once a year, but the communication aspects of said meters are not that tight. We must read approximately 3-5% because of their failure rate. And i change them constantly. I don’t like being in peoples yards but they did sign a contract. Lastly, I do collections also. Standing on anyone’s porch trying to collect money is no great fun. Our meters have a complete OFF option but is entirely cost prohibitive as cost per unit. So i pull and boot the meter the old-fashioned way. The only way your power will be selectively turned off is if you don’t pay your bill

  • ” smart ” meters require a “smart” house. Others cannot willy-nilly turn off anything selectively in your house unless your house is wired to do so. Now the meters I am familiar with have an option to cut your whole house power from our office, ( I work for a co-op in Ohio ) but the price of that option is extremely prohibitive as a cost per unit. We considered the option for habitual non-payers but it was still not a practical cost

  • I am a meter-tech for an electrical co-op and i suspect these particular meters are called AMR’s. Automatic Meter Reader. They are not the so-called ” smart meters ” that eco-geeks want us all to have. I am in Ohio and should not speak for Illinois but smart meters require smart houses also, no matter what state your in. No one can turn off your A\C, your appliances or anything else in your home without your home, with all its myriad of breakers and switches, being compatible to your meter. The option is there to cut your whole power but that option is quite expensive and extremely impractical. ( per unit costs ) If it is an AMR, these meters have an approximate failure rate of 5% per month causing folk like myself to go out and read them the old-fashioned way. When people ask, I merely tell them that technology isn’t all its cracked up to be.

  • Responding to JROOK. Are you sure you want people to study the history of unions? They may find out about the communist connections. Particularly at the turn of the century thru FDR. I welcome all Americans to know the history of unions. Find out why the AFL and the CIO battled for 2 decades before consolidating. Understand how unions destroyed our manufacturing base during the depression and nearly sidelined the U.S. after joining WW II

  • I live in Lancaster Ohio and was there at the event. I guarantee you this gentleman would have heard it from me and I’m sure all others would have done same. Secondly this mans face would have been plastered on all media avenues. I was looking for goofs like that and didn’t spot any. The event itself was great. Three different groups of protesters and maybe 100 people between them all. My guess is between six to ten thousand attended

I’ve gotten the Glenn Beck endorsement.

  • Snork, no disrespect but i am Catholic. The one time i had a “Hand laid on me” by and evangelical, all I felt afterwards was relief, gratefulness and the grace of God. I certainly wished it happened more often. In no way do I feel like a bad Catholic. I hope that was not your intention.
