  Clearly, this form was designed to discourage people without birth certificates to apply for passports, born of too many days at the counter the clerks are sick of trying to tell people they cant get an american passport without an a birth certificate.
  This smacks of: “Oh really, obnoxious customer? you really can’t get your state birth certificate and you think raising your voice and insulting my education and breeding will change the law?? *drops form on counter with a smack* Here ya go! have fun.”

  I’ll give them kudos when they actually change their employment practices such as demanding off the clock over time. My local store however is under good management and I hear great things form the employees there, so I am actually looking forward to the new products they’ll be getting. (Buckeye, Arizona!)

  The point of raising awareness for a cause like this is to increase the exposure of the charities and services for the victims to the public eye. When the need is common knowledge, it’s more likely to get the donations of time and resources than not.

  Fact: people give charitably, and are more likely to champion legislation of an issue they know of than something they don’t.

  Most precincts in the US have a backlog of rape kits that have never been submitted for DNA testing against the database. If you know anything about the humiliation and difficulty involved in collecting this DNA evidence from the victim to identify her rapist, you would agree that having the evidence sitting in a warehouse untouched for 10 years in unacceptable, and you too would push to heighten the priority or processing this criminal evidence.

  See what I did there? It’s called raising awareness. And all because of this news article discussing men wearing stilletos.
